How do you eat your cottage cheese & plain yogurt?

I love cottage cheese. A half-cup serving + mixins come in under 150 and are delicious. But I'm getting bored with my preparation.

So, inspired by the oatmeal thread, I'm coming to you all for ideas on how to get in my necessary high-protein snacks of cottage cheese or lowfat plain yogurt. How do you eat it?

My favorite of the moment is 1/2-cup nonfat cottage cheese + 1/8 cup (about 2 tbsp) Grape Nuts. ~130 calories.

I LOVE cottage cheese, in fact I just got done with my afternoon snack of it about 60 seconds ago! ;)

I have 1/2 c. 2% cc with mandarin orange segments or pineapple tidbits.
I don't care for it but my mom loves it with just Mrs. Dash.

I love Chobani plain yogurt because it's low in calories(100) and high in protein(18g!) but I can't quite take it straight. I add 2 t of sugar(still less than what's in sweetened yogurt, I figure), or 1 T Trader Joe's Midnight Moo chocolate syrup. If I'm being really good I sweeten it with unsweetened applesauce. And if I can spare the calories I add a T each of slivered almonds and dried cranberries.

I make my cottage cheese into waffles. 1/4 c. cottage cheese, pureed in a mini-blender. Whisk 2 eggs until fluffy. Add together with 1/2 tsp. baking powder, 1/2 tsp. vanilla, 1/2 tsp. cinnamon, few grains of lemon rind, 1 t. fresh lemon juice, and 1 pkg. Splenda. Put in heated waffle iron. Bake. Squirt with ICBNB, and SF syrup.

Yummy -

I sometimes add splenda to my plain ff yogurt.. Sweetens it up w/o calories..

I put pineapple and cinnamon, frozen pitted cherries, Mandarin oranges, peaches and cinnamon in both. If you keep the cherries frozen, and mix them into the yogurt, you get a great dessert.

Sometimes I add a bit of peanut butter and splenda to greek yogurt and use it as an apple dip. I also make Balsamic Strawberries (8 oz strawberries, 1 packet splenda, black pepper, 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar - let sit at least an hour) and eat them with cottage cheese or greek yogurt... These are a bit random :D

Da Vinci or Torani sugar free syrups can make really good mix-ins for yogurt...I like coconut and chocolate, or caramel.

one of my favorite meals of all time is cottage cheese and tomatoes, has been since i was a little kid...i don't buy cottage cheese too often and im scared to right now on my diet, because i have to fight myself not to eat the container in one setting, and even at that it is still gone the same day..

I don't eat cottage cheese but I found that frozen blueberries with a little cinnamon mixed into yogurt is good. Sometimes even slivered almonds or oatmeal is a good addition.

I love cottage cheese with hot sauce like Tabasco. I also like to stir it into a soup like a blended spinach or winter squash to get a melty creamy thing going on

I eat cottage cheese plain.

For Greek yogurt (and I eat the 2%, because it's so much tastier than the FF stuff to me) I add in:
- berries -frozen are good, and fresh are amazing
- uncooked rolled oats (they're fine to eat raw, and give a really nice texture)
- Fiber One cereal if I'm low on fiber for the day - I try to get at least 40g
- vanilla extract
- my newest kitchen love, Saigon cinnamon. It's SO good. Much more cinnamon-y than the regular stuff. I love it - McCormick makes one that is available in supermarkets.
- pumpkin butter
- PB2 powder

Amazing ideas, guys. Definitely trying fruit / applesauce tomorrow. This is so exciting! :)

One of my friends volunteered that he eats his with pepper. Just... pepper. I tried it, and it actually does bring out the flavor in an interesting way.

not sure where you live...when i was living on the east coast, i used to buy friendship whipped cottage cheese. i would mix it with splenda and cinnamon and spread it on low cal toast. yum!

i second the eating cottage cheese by the container. ditto for yogurt. but, now my kids love them both just as much as me. i practically have to hide it if i want either, or portion it out for everyone. not the kinda thing i can have everyday. i would need a truckload for it to last long enough.

we really love frozen fruit with our yogurt. kids' absolute fav. is when i put frozen fruit in yogurt in their lunch box. cherries, blue berries, mango...or whatever fruit is in season when it's warm.

another thing i just started doing. fruit portioned out in little containers, then frozen. then it's like a slushy desert in their lunch. was really great for sore throats too.
