Trader Joe Best Buys?!
 

I'm going to Trader Joe's today just wondering does anyone have any fav buys that are healthy and you just can't live without on your diet, that I should check out. I don't get to go that often it's kind of far so just wondering for more ideas don't wanna miss anything :dizzy:

Canned beans.
Goat cheese.
Barbara's Bakery cereals.
Organic milk & yogurt.
Olive oil.
Tomato soup.
String cheese.
Whole wheat cous cous.

Their peanut butter & almond butter. I get like six jars every time I go there.

Also, their nuts & trail mix.

Eggs are priced well there, if the local grocery stores don't have them on sale.

Sometimes their bagged salads are a good buy.

Also, maybe this is weird, but I get my cumin & my cinnamon there. (I wish they carried more spices ...)

Oh also has anyone had Brie cheese I never did just wondering what it tastes like I was thinking of maybe getting some

Here is what I get each week at TJ's (LOVE it)
Kefir
carrots
eggs
milk
creamer
frozen edamame
salmon patties
chicken sausage with mango
bagged southern greens
frozen broccoli
turkey meatballs
seaweed snacks
organic whole wheat pasta
organic marinara sauce
sliced cheese (different kinds)

sometimes I'll get other things if I need them...bread, bagels, peso sauce, soy sauce, other kinds of meat. I find TJ's is at least a dollar cheaper than the supermarket for anything I buy there, and most of the stuff is at least organic or all natural (although can be high in sodium).

When I lived in CA, I thought the TJ's cottage cheese was head and shoulders above the brands I could get in standard grocery stores. Dairy more generally, but it was the cottage cheese in particular that I noticed the difference.

Mmckellen where are the seaweed snacks I really wanted to try some seaweed, heard how good it is for you but I can never find any. Is it by the chips? Maybe I just have never seen it.

love the olive hummas, and Tandoori Naan (kinda spicy) - not sure how healthy, but its good

Brie, is a soft cheese kind of like cream cheese but not really. I like it a lot, with out the rind (hard outer shell) You can eat the rind but it has a much stronger taste.

For Christmas we cut the Brie in half the long way (if its a wedge) horizontal to the table, so you have to big flat surfaces, place in a baking dish and pour pepper jelly over it, (made with jalapeno's) and bake. The cheese gets all yummy and soft and melty, the spicy jelly goes well with the cheese, we eat it on whole wheat ritz, or Acmack (sp?) would be good.

almond butter with sea salt (it is the best in the universe)

I love to buy:

unsalted PB (I buy like 3 every time I go)
dried basil & cinnamon spices (because cheaper than at my regular grocer)
great bottles of wine for around $5.99
cheese -- chive cheddar & hunks of parm which are a good value there
shelled edamame, when they have it
bag of mache lettuce
orange bell pepper (because my grocery store doesn't carry)
frozen mahi-mahi burger patties, which I love and haven't seen elsewhere

There's great spinach and chive linguine (bags of dried pasta) that I like to get there sometimes.

My TJs has great frozen, prepared foods -- here I'm thinking of the frozen appetizer-type things in particular. I love to try them sometimes, but note that most of them are regular-to-high in calories for what they are.

The best buys?

Yeah that just about wraps it up. :)

laughing cow cheese wedges are ALWAYS cheaper.
their bagged baby spinach (12oz) is like $1.99 here in seattle
their brand of greek yogurt
they'll often have bags of clementines/apples for cheap
canned goods
crackers and such
morningstar products/dr. praegers veggie burgers are cheaper there than in regular supermarkets
also, check around the bagged salad/produce section- they have a stir fry mix that i love! and it's pretty cheap. i live alone, so 1 bag will last me about 3-4 meals (just make sure you use it before the expiration date)

TJ's low sodium and tomato soup is fantastic.

THe 94% fat free mini bags of popcorn are very good too.

Their salads are good too, The reduced fatgreek salad, the chopped chicken sald with coucous are my current favorites.

I also like the muiltigrain chips, better than Sunchips.

Wow, I think TJ`s is crazy expensive!?

i like to get:
frozen french onion soup
spinoza bagels
frozen bagged chicken fried rice
chocolate sorbet
sourdough bread
scallops wrapped in bacon

their produce is usually cheaper than regular grocery stores have to be careful with the packaged stuff though that can get kinda pricey but I mostly buy the produce when I'm there, condiments and some packaged things.
