Sometimes berries are irradiated like they do to ground beef to prevent salmonella and e coli. I know they did this back in the 90s, not sure if they are still doing it. Strawberries that lasted a long time were irradiated, and as a result the mold didn't grow as fast. I think generally, fresh berries, like fresh shrimp, just have to be used as soon as possible.

Keep them in the original container and wash them only when you're ready to eat them

I recently bought a set of Kinetic Go Green Premium containers that claimed to help keep food fresh longer. It really works! Everything that I have stored in them have lasted so much longer and I'm not throwing anything away.

I have tried raspberries in them with great luck. No mold and the looked and tasted fresh after nearly a week vs a day or two. I don't know how much longer they would have lasted because I ate them all

I recently put strawberries in one and I swear three weeks later they looked and smelled just as fresh as the day I put them in.

I also store cucumbers, peppers, and lettuce in them and nothing goes bad.

They offer several configurations of sets or you can buy individually. I was lucky enough to find a very large set at TJ Maxx for just $19

It's one of the best purchases I've ever made.
