Just wanted to share our love of our Community Supported Agriculture Farm Share. It's our second year - and third season now - doing one and we have gotten the most wonderful produce and have been "forced" into eating even healthier than we have. We just joined our organic farm's Winter Share program - new for them - and today picked up 3 shopping bags full of gorgeous carrots, broccoli, brussell sprouts, kale, cabbage, arugula, broccoli rab, squash and pumpkins. All summer we had fresh leaf lettuce in our regular share, and there was a TON of pick your own organic produce at this farm as well.
We live outside a medium sized city in the northeast hub between Boston and New York and it is well worth seeking out a farm share and trying it for at least one season. We did a half share (we're a family of 4) and that was plenty for us. Our first year, we did the share at another nearby farm, also organic, but this farm let us have a bit more flexibility than the other one.
Cost wise, definitely a bit more expensive than the supermarket, although NOT more expensive than the organic produce at a Whole Foods type market - and nothing is better than fresh out of the ground veggies!
Loving this winter share and so glad I don't have to shop the plastic at the market for produce this year - any other CSA-ers out there?
