I need veggie dip?
Okay so... Ranch dressing has quite a bit of calories... that i'd like to cut down. So I tried hummus and I just can't ... well, I just don't enjoy it. I can eat it, but I don't like the flavor... it's just weird.... i'm sorry I wasted my money on hummus, lol.
Any other suggestions for a low-cal, healthy dip? I mainly dip things like celery, carrots, tomatos, peppers, etc. I usually use vanilla pudding for dipping my fruit, and don't plan on changing that (as one of those little ready made cups is only 80 calories) But I really don't like how much calories is in ranch (1 tablespoon is like 70 calories) |
I found a low fat hummus for very low calories, browse a health food store/section, the brand I got was Oasis Classic Cuisine and its 24 cal for 2 tbsp! I also use salsa! (its very low in calories as well!)

If I really want that ranch-dip sort of taste, I get a packet of the Hidden Valley dressing mix and mix it up with fat free sour cream. All of the ranch flavor, no fat, very few calories compared to regular ranch.

I mix a 1/4 cup of salsa with 1 Tablesppon of lite Ranch dressing. Tastes good and is low calorie.

Mandalinn that's a great idea!! i will have to try that.
Jane - that's interesting, I hadn't thought about salsa. for some reason I think salsa must strictly be eaten with only tortilla chips... that's silly of me though! lol |
Try baba ganoush which is just roasted eggplant, garlic, lemon juice, olive oil & tahini.. so yummy.

Nonfat greek style yogurt, lemon juice, lots of black fresh ground pepper, but of minced garlic, whatever fresh herbs are available- good with basil and mint. I usually add a trickle of very green tasting olive oil. When I eat this with veggies I feel like I am also getting in some wholesome nutrients.
