Use a crock pot liner or spray really well. Seems like they set up like glue, but oh so good.
Cooking oats in the slow cooked:
Adapted from Church Potluck = Linda Larsen
With 3 TBSP of butter, toast the scotch oats or steel cut oats for about 6 or 7 minutes and throw them in the crockpot
1 1/2 c. steel cut oats
2 c. water
1 c. milk
1 1/2 c. apple juice (no added sugar juice)
1/2 salt
1/3 c. sugar (I use Whey-low)
Stir well and cook for 7-8 hours on low.
Opt: After the oats are done cooking, Ms. Larsen adds in 1 c. blueberries and 1 c. toasted walnuts and cooks for another 1 hour
