Default Questions about Flax

I remember when I was dieting a few years back I'd read a lot of great things about flax. Sometimes I'd use the oil, sometimes the seed, sometimes the grounded-up seeds.

I'd like to pick some up again, but was wondering what everyone's preferences and opinions were on the different ways to buy it and what they'd be great to use them in. For example, I used to put the seeds on my salads, but I can't even remember what I did with the oil and grounded-up seeds, lol.

Maybe I'm looking for some ideas?

I plop the ground seeds into most of my baked goods - muffins, pancakes, yeast breads. You don't even know it's there.

From what I've read the seeds are more beneficial when ground up, whole seeds just go through the body without release of the goodies.

I sprinkle a couple of teaspoons of the ground flax in my hot cereal each morning.

We buy the seeds and grind them in a coffee grinder. We then mix them in baked goods, peanut butter, salads, sprinkle it on our cereal, etc.
