Western Bagel "Alternative" English Muffins -- FABULOUS!
I LOVE THESE! They have only 100 calories, 5 grams of fiber and 8 grams of protein.
If you split them first they toast wonderfully right from the freezer.
Melt some non-fat cheese on a toasted one, top with an egg, a slice of tomato and a tablespoon of "bacos" or other soy bacon, and you have a pretty good stand in for the classic Egg McMuffin, with extra protein and calcium and a fraction of the fat!
Oh yes, Western Bagel bagels are really good too! Mmmm.
If you can't find them, though (they're hard to find here...I know Western Bagel is based in LA, and Wal-Mart carries the bagels, but I've never seen the english muffins), another good option I love is Oroweat's Double Fiber english muffin. They're 110 calories, 4 g protein, and 8 grams of fiber.
Oh that is nice to know about the Orowheat, I will look for those -- I usually have to make a special trip to the Western Bagel store to get the other ones so it's nice to have an alternative at the regular store!
btw mandalinn I enjoyed your success story & before and after pix, you are looking good girl!
