Sugar Free Cereal?

I'm looking for a cereal to have in the morning that has a good amount of fiber and protein, but doesn't have any added sugar. I've been trying the Kashi brands, and they taste good, but they all have added sugar, and I'd rather not waste added sugar on breakfast cereal! Also, on a side note, I've also tried plain oatmeal, but for some reason, I find that I'm hungry 30-60 minutes after I eat it, so that's a no-go...

Any suggestions?

How about oatmeal paired with protein, such as eggs, egg whites, cottage cheese, turkey sausage, or yogurt? Some people even stir protein powder or natural PB (which is more than a fat than protein, but it's good!) into oatmeal. Oatmeal is a daily staple in my diet but I must have it with protein for it to have staying power. :)

That's a really good idea, thanks! I've never had turkey sausage--what are some good brands?

I'm currently in love with Jimmy Dean turkey sausage. It's in your grocery store with the bacon and only has to be microwaved for 50 seconds. It's 120 calories for two patties (it also comes in links), 13 g protein, 2 g carbs, 7 g fat. My usual breakfast is 1/3 cup (dry measure) oatmeal (100 calories) with two sausage patties = 220 calories. :)

Thanks, I will try it out!

I was thinking the same thing. The reason cold cereal works for you may be the protein in the milk. You could try just drinking a glass of NF/LF milk with your oatmeal.

That's a really good point, yoyo. Unfortunatly, I really dislike the taste of milk on it's own...I could add some to the oatmeal instead of water though. Thanks!

Shredded Wheat and Uncle Sam's Cereal are two cereals with no added sugar.

There are a few cereals without sugar. You just have to look for the most plain looking cereals and read the labels. You could also try some unsweetened almond milk and some shredded almonds with your oatmeal?

Also, I highly recommend trying steel cut oats which I think helps me feel fuller.

There's no added sugar in Fiber One (the original variety, not the newer varieties). It does have artificial sweetener, however (not sure if you care about that).

I am very picky about my food... I love brand flakes with a banna, splenda, and milk mixed in that always gets me going for a long day of school and I never feel hungry in between classes so I would try that and see what you think :)

I second steel cut oats.

I think that cottage cheese and oatmeal with a little cinnamon and blueberries is delicious. Or the combination of yogurt and oatmeal is fantastic as well. Sometimes for more savory scrambled eggs taste good in the oatmeal too. Its good to get protein and complex carbs in the morning to keep you full fo rhours.
