Galeos Miso Dressings
I like my salads with LOTS of dressing (those of you who know me know I'm not a huge fan of veggies, so if I can really taste them, then it's a bad salad for me ). To lose weight, I've been coutning calories and limiting my processed sugar/processed carb intake. In doing so, I was using quite a bit of artificial sweeteners like Splenda, which I wanted to try to get away from. I also had high blood pressure the last time I went to a doctor, and sooooo many salad dressing low in sugar are sky high in sodium.
At Whole Foods the other day, I discovered Galeos Miso Dressings. I got 3 flavors: Caesar, Sesame, and Dijonnaise. They are all natural, sweetened with honey, and check out these stats:
Sesame Dressing, per Tablespoon
22 calories
2g fat (.2 saturated)
0mg cholesterol
35mg sodium
.5g sugars
I actually have 6 servings on my salad (hey, it's a big salad! ), which is 6 servings, or about the equivalent of 3 servings for most bottled dressings. In 6 Tablespoons, I end up with only 132 calories, 210mg sodium, and 3g sugar. ANd, the best part is, it tastes good! I get a bit of sweet Asian flavor, which I love, without any soy sauce, which I avoid due to sodium.
I was making my own Asian dressing at home, but it used soy sauce and lots of oil, so, even when I watered it down a bit, it was very high in sodium and calories.
The dijonnaise flavor has been AWESOME on sandwiches and burgers, and I'm using it on chicken tonight.
I haven't tried the caesar one yet.
