Too funny.. I don't like the name brands, but I love our harris teeter store brand 2% I got some of the breakstones because they were out of the store brand and thought it was too sour. So you definitely need to shop around and find the brand for you :)

I buy the Breakstones for Digestive Health (basically just has added fiber in it) in the little individual serving cups, simply because if I buy a big container I know I'll be too lazy to measure out the correct portion size. I eat it plain, with fruit of all kinds, and sometimes with some chopped tomato and italian herbs. Very versatile and very yummy. I always get the 2%, simply because that's what comes in the little cups. I've tried the nonfat and I wasn't crazy about it. I also wasn't too crazy about the large curd because it seemed more watery, I guess because the small curds weren't there to help smooth out the texture. I'm really interested in that protein pancake recipe, though! I might have to do breakfast for dinner tonight! I might add in some vanilla chai spice I bought last night at the store. If only I hadn't just eaten lunch... haha.

I just went and looked up the Breakstone's nutrition info and all of their cottage cheese products have 0 fiber. Am I missing something? |
I like cottage cheese. My preference is the whole fat (only 10cal more per 1/2 cup than 2%) Scotsburn (I'm in Canada). The curds are better and it's not as watery than others.
I find no name to be gross, as well as no-fat . I find it best with canned diced peaches, or blueberries! YUM! Take some frozen blueberries, sprinkle them with splenda granular, put them in the microwave to warm, and add cottage cheese to it. It is so good! One thing you don't want to do is add raspberries to it as it'll seperate and be really unpleasant looking. Other things you could do is put it in the baby cuisinart and make a high protein dip for your veggies (add ranch spice, or seasoning salt, dill, garlic, whatever you have) Or smooth it out and put it with your smooothie ingredients to vut the carb count. |
Cottage cheese and tomatoes... absolutely beautiful. I actually love it on my sandwiches for lunch. Slice the tomatoes thinly, spread the juice from them over the bread, spread some cottage cheese and place tomato slices on top. DELICIOUS :D And fairly filling.
