Refined flour
I'm starting a dextox next week, and in preparation I'm not to eat any refined flour for a couple of days (amongst other things). I'm kind of new to eating whole and healthy foods, and I guess I don't know what that means. Can I eat any types of bread at all? Toasted oatmeal (non-instant)? What should I look for on the package when I buy it? I've got some waffles in the freezer, and the first two ingredients are "whole wheat flour" then "wheat flour". So I couldn't eat it because of the wheat flour, right? I'm going to assume brown rice would be ok...TIA!

Go over to the whole foods thread and read up a bit there and you'll get a better understanding of the whole thing.
Basically, I stay away from foods that have "enriched" or "hydrogenated" in the ingredient list. Some also stay away from High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) or try to not eat it if that is in the first 5 or 6 ingredients listed. Whole wheat flour is probably better than wheat flour (because it says "whole") and yes, brown rice is better than white rice. |
All flour is refined. You want bread with whole grains, not flour.

ah, I see...thanks! I think I'll just eat veggies and fruits all day :) My hubby keeps saying he's "preparing for the famine" by saving all his left overs for next week, lol.
