Default Favorite breakfast cereals?

I'm looking to try a new cereal for breakfast. I like to try to stick to low calorie stuff first thing in the morning so I have a little wiggle room for snacks. I know the Kashi brand is pretty popular but what's good? I want to get the best bang for my buck, you know? Fiber, low cal, protein...all the good stuff....I don't want to buy 12 boxes to try as I am the only one that will be eating it. What do you guys like?

I don't eat cereal but DH snacks on them. I buy two things, Trader Joe's Shredded Wheat squares and Trader Joe's high fiber O's. I like them because they have good ingredients and plenty of fiber.

Without a doubt FIBER ONE CEREAL. 60 calories, 14 grams of fiber for 1/2 cup. Can't be beat IMO. Although I do mix it with 1/2 cup of Kashi Go Lean cereal, which does have more protein then the Fiber One.

I enjoy Cheerios with a banana cut up in it with milk.

My favs are:
  • Flax Plus (flakes, not granola or other varieties). 130 calories per cup, 7g fiber, 5g protein, 6g sugar. I buy it at Trader Joe's but I've noticed that my Safeway has started carrying it.
  • Trader Joe's High Fiber Cereal (yep, that's the name, just generic "high fiber cereal") 120 calories per cup, 9g fiber, 3g protein, 5g sugar.
  • Kashi Go Lean (the original, not Friends or Crunch) 140 calories per cup, 10g fiber, 13g protein, 6g sugar. It doesn't taste as good as the other two, but you can't beat the nutritionals.
  • Oatmeal, either regular or steel cut (I make a 4-serving batch of the steel cut at once and then freeze or refrigerate it. It takes a lot longer than quick or instant oats, but tastes so much better and is more filling). 150 calories per cup. I add cinnamon, splenda, and 2 oz unsweetened soy milk to it.

I'm definitely with Robin for the Fiber 1, although my box says 100 calories? Also -- NO SUGAR in it! LOVE it.

I mix 1/2cup of Special K plus Protein with 1/4 cup of Fiber One and 1/4 cup of Kasha Go Lean/or Heart to Heart. Then sometimes I add 1/8 cup of Shredded Wheat and Bran.

I really don't have a favorite because if I stick to one for a while, I get bored. I like to switch up Kashi Go Lean, Cheerios, Corn Flakes, and just plain oatmeal with a little fruit.

I don't eat cereal for breakfast but I have it for snack. I like fiber one for all the fiber. Sometimes, when I crave sweets, I would add a 1/2 c of frozen raspberries in it, it tastes great.

I love Special K. And I think I may be the only person in the world who loves Wheat Chex. I can't get enough of the things. Cheerios are another favorite as well. And Kix when I'm in the mood for something sweet.

I'm not overly fond of Kashi, I buy it and eat it though. But give me a bowl of raisin bran and I'm in heaven! Oatmeal (steel cut) is a close second.

My trainer directed me to eat a half cup (measured dry) of steel cut oatmeal each morning because it's a slow burning carb. I'm not an oatmeal fan - I detest regular oatmeal, but this stuff ain't bad. It's more like the consitency of couscous. I eat it with salt and pepper and a little parmesan. Weird, I know.

Wow, thanks! I saw a bunch of those this morning, I just didn't know which one to get. I think I have it narrowed down to 3. I'll just start trying them now. I like the mixing ideas too.

Actually, to me that sounds kind of good. I like weird stuff.
