Default Wii exercising - BL, EA Active, DDR, MFC anything

I'm new to this site so what am I doing starting a new thread? How brave...but I couldn't find an existing support group for those who like to work out at home using the Wii. I have spent probably WAY too much money on a variety of Wii games but I do love most of them and switch between them a lot. I have recently started the 6 Week challenge using EA Sports Active and looking for others who are either doing that, have done it, or doing something else using Wii.

I have about 30 lbs to lose and can't make it to a gym due to my work and family life so always looking for other alternatives. Weather is beautiful today so may just go out for a plain old walk!

I'd love to find like-minded people to workout together with.

Hi there, let us know how the weightloss goes using this method. I have thought about buying a wii for this reason too.

Hi!!

I am doing the EA Active 30 day challenge and the EA Active More Workouts 6 week challenge, and I also love them both. I think I am about halfway on the 30 day one. I have several other games also but haven't really tried them out. I did get the Wii Fit Plus but didn't care for that one as much.

I am doing Weight Watchers and have lost 38lbs so far and need to lose about 16 more to reach my goal weight. I just incorporated exercise into my daily routine not too long ago so I am a beginner lol!

First of all, thanks for posting. Do either of you know how to set it so that you will be alerted of a response?

I've had my Wii since Christmas 2008 and even though my eating has been on and off, the Wii has kept me from swaying too far off track so I recommend getting one. I know it's a bit expensive but for me, it's less than a gym membership yet I still feel it motivates me the same way.

Congrats Lilmommie on your weight loss to date. Weight Watchers does work and I think it's a great program. I see you joined this site recently too. With the Wii Active, have you noticed it sometimes doesn't track your movements. I can get completely frustrated by it. Everything will be going just fine on the one side but when I switch to doing the strength training on the other side, the on-screen coach just sits there and I can't just skip over it and I end up doing maybe 10 more reps trying to get the screen to register.

That said, I really enjoy the game overall because I love that it mixes things up and you never know what you are going to get.

I also have the Biggest Loser but I found it was pushing me too hard to lose too much weight at once. I believe in smaller lasting changes rather than radical diets....at least for me and I felt like it wouldn't have been happy had I only lost a pound a week but I will go back and try it again...this time I might choose Jillian over Bob as you have the option of both.

Wii fit plus is nice as it can create routines for you to do based on how much time you have. You can choose to have a routine of yoga, strength training or a mix of both. The routines can definitely get you sweating.

I find that my legs get a really good workout. Wii fit plus has also added a really good mini game for the arms.

I find the wight tracker really helpful although hate how wii fit plus switched over to kg for measurement - with no option to have your weight displayed in pounds.

Overall, wii fit is good - your looking for an exercise game wii fit plus is a good one to start with.
I have just recently bough my personal trainer and sports active (waiting for them to arrive ^_^)

I tried to do EA sports for like a few days. I just don't feel like I'm getting a good workout. Sometimes my movements aren't tracked and it pisses me off so much. The last two days I didn't do it cause I wanted to relax/workout, not get angry.

Hello all! I'm back yet again. I can't seem to stay with something, but I'm trying yet again. Today I started the rotation diet and I'm combining that with my wii fit. So hopefully I get some results so I stick to it. It's gotten to the point where my grandmother tells me how heavy I am every time I see her. And apparently makes up outrageous things and tells people that I'm doing or eating them... so this might be a little bit of revenge too. But mostly its for myself.

I bought Jillian Michaels Fitness Ultimatun 2010 last night. I had previously raad some favourable reviews on it. From what I had read before (shortly after its release) it was improved from the previous year and wasn't a bad game. After purchasing it last night I read some reviews and it seems the critics didn't like it too much. I don't often put all my faith in what the critics say and prefer user comments. Have any of you used it and if so what was your impression of it. Honeslty I only got it because it was $25. but it's still in its package and I can return it if I decide to. I was thinking on the Biggest Loser game for the Wii instead. Thought?

A new game came out a few months back for the Wii, called Just Dance. It's like DDR, but you use your whole body. And you only need the Wii Remote, not a mat. It's really fun! Even my mom was enjoying it. It's got some good songs on it, old and new. Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, I Get Around, Hot 'n Cold, Mashed Potatoes... I recommend it. Not sure if you have to unlock songs. I've only had it a few days. :P

I have DDR and Just Dance. I tried DDR admittedly only once but was so frustrated with my lack of coordination I gave up. Just dance is fun and I found it very easy to play. Love it. I will eventually try DDR again...someday

I have been trying the Biggest Loser Wii game for weeks. I can't beat a single challenge. I am in the "obese"range according to Wii fit, but am a fairly active person. I just can't beat them and get voted off the island! Anyone else have this problem or know what I am doing wrong?

I have so many fitness dvd's is not even funny. Mind you I barely exercise but I love collecting fitness dvd's!

Anyway, I have the BL Wii game and I can't beat that game either, but I am so uncoordinated. Now that I know I can come here and talk about it I am going to give it another try!
