Ok, yesterday was low-cal high-fiber - and weight is up again today. So I do seem to experience some bloating from my high-fiber days. So maybe what I should be trying to do is alternate high-fiber days with high-protein days, I'm not sure. The weight does seem to drop when I have a high-protein day, even though those are usually higher in overall calories than my high-fiber days.

SusanB - that mold? That was a SIGN from GOD. :)

BetsyZ ... hi and welcome! We're glad you're here!
In another thread some asked if anyone else had a speedbump weight. That no matter what happened they just could get past it. I hit 129 or 130 and bounce back up ... it takes concerted effort to get any lower ... that's my speedbump weight.
Is that clearer?

srmb60 10-26-2006 09:31 AM

Su-Bee ... Varnagirl? As in the Varna that's that way about 15 miles ...that way ... toward Bayfield?
Yes, I was nosing around your fitday :)
I'm not a big fan of wheat. I think more people are sensitive to wheat than we know. Is there another kind of fibre that you'd like? Have you tried psyllium?

Su-Bee 10-26-2006 09:40 AM

Wheat, you think? My only regular wheat is from my morning AllBran (on both my "protein" and "fiber" days) - although I did have a thing going on with crackers this weekend! Most of my fiber is actually fruits & veggies. But maybe I will try oatmeal in the morning for a while & see what happens. I like psyllium - mixed into my yogurt - just haven't done it in a while. (Mixing psyllium with oatmeal, on the other hand, is just SCARY. Oatmeal + psyllium = glue!)

There's a Varna in Ontario? I had no idea! :) Nope, my Varna is the one in Bulgaria, where I used to live.

srmb60 10-26-2006 09:44 AM

Oatmeal generally needs a little something, yes indeed!
Yup, there's a Varna just up the road here. It's two stop signs, a church and a feed mill :)

I also weigh less after a high protein day. I had a lot of protein calories yesterday and my weight is down this morning. And starchy carbs made out of wheat and corn are death for me, not to mention the salt. I never did the Atkins diet, but I think that was the basic premise.

I've discovered that wheat is a trigger food for me, gives me headaches, and bloats me up like crazy, this I've discovered in the last 3 weeks... On the days I was really careful, on the lo carb side that is, I felt lean and my fingers where not bloated at all... As soon as I added wheat or of course white stuff, I bloat... I love oatmeal :hun:, but I've also been taking it easy on that carb and have it only in the morning. I can almost be certain of a gain in the morning after an evening meal of whole wheat pasta, or popcorn while watching TV... Another carb I really like are chickpeas or beans... I've been eating them pretty much daily these days...

I love psyllium, I've been feeling really really cleaned out since I have incorporated in my plan... One teaspoon in the morning either in my water or cranberry water and another teaspoon just before bed in water.... I also have Bran Bud with psyllium and oatmeal in the morning, a 1/4cup of each with 1/2cup of soy milk and a bit of splenda, I let it soak in the milk while I make my omellette...

Jazzbird 10-26-2006 11:22 AM

I love chickpeas (we call them garbanzos here). I hadn't thought of them as carbs, but I looked it up and yup, they're mostly carb. Still, they've got a lot of fiber, so they're on the whitelist. My problem is getting enough veggies. Too many days I'm going to bed and realize I've only had 2 or 3 servings. I think that's part of my speedbump.

Hi SusanB, Sue-b

Hi ladies..I am new to the board. I read this thread and I just wanted to respond. I have a lot in common with you gals. I also am a nurse. Our weight are or have been in the same time zone..I weigh 153, my goal is 125. I also LOVE my wine at bed. In fact, i think thats my whole damn problem. If I could just have the will power to lay off the wine, then not only would i be consuming fewer cals, i also think i would have less incidences of pm binges. Anyway, i am here at rock bottom. I need to make changes. I used to love to run and I hope to get some motivation to get back into it. Need to start slow. 2 days ago i walked on TM for 25 minutes:) :)
Isnt chilly up there in Canada girls? I'm on east coast of USA.
Nice to meet you all.

Well, I was doing really great these last few weeks, but then super stress reared its ugly head, and I headed straight for the refrigerator. I seemed to forget everything I learned. Instead of exercising my stress away, I saw myself adding calories to an already tense situation. Like that's going to relieve stress. It never does. Yesterday I came to my senses and finally stopped the stupidity. And today I'm back here in the weekly challenge. It's back to the gym, aerobics and Tai Chi.

You gals are an inspiration. And I feel so muck better when I do the right thing. So today it's going to be more protein and less carbs, more water and exercise. I'm back, baby. :D

Have a great day.
Dena

Dena ... part of the right thing is not going away! Stick with us Baby!
It is an absolutely gorgeous sunshining day here 45 degrees your scale ;) I walked in a windbreaker.
I did an awesome arm and chest workout this morning. I'm making protein pancakes. My batch turned into 6!!! Now I'll have to refigure my fitday! I may or may not have to pick my car up. And I have to go to work. Busy day but good so far.

Are you working right now Healthywtloss4me?

Don't kick yourself too hard over it - although some of the ladies here do find that wine stalls their weightloss, I am more likely to be down a pound the morning after I've had several glasses of wine than I am the morning after not having any. There's a thread in the SBD section somewhere about how having a glass of wine with a meal actually helps you metabolize the food. . .mind you that's ONE glass, not the couple I like to have in the evenings. . .

Anyway, welcome! We are glad to have you aboard, and hey - now that you've "hit rock bottom," there's noplace to go but UP, right? :)

Jazzbird 10-26-2006 02:50 PM

:welcome: healthy! Su-Bee's right--don't get too down about things. This is a really supportive group and we all have our issues. I hope you'll come back often!

Dena, I was wondering where you were. Glad to see you're back.

I did an awesome upper body & ab workout this morning. I think I'm going to be sore later (the good kind of sore). Had roasted chicken and a HUGE plate of vegetables for lunch.

srmb60 10-26-2006 08:39 PM

Evening ladies. I'm home from work and I think I'll go curl up with my book. The fella's were already watching a movie when I got home ... I hate missing the beginning of a movie!
We got this fabulous basket of goodies from a patient today but I was good. I had an apple and a pear ... and two Turtles.
So I'm off to bed at about 1400 calories with lots of good activity!

healthywtloss4me 10-26-2006 11:29 PM

Hey SusanB

Yes I was at work earlier. We do 12's. NOw here I am posting at 1130 pm. I ah a great day food wise before I got home from work. I actually wasnt hungry until... I walked in door. Hubby had bought McDee's food kids so there i was at 9pm. Had 4 Nuggets small fries, oh just a ferw pepparoni ( sp) sticks, according to FitDay total cals like 1500. Good thing is I see my mistake...i should of not of let myself get so hungry in the first place. even though i wasnt hungry at the time..by waiting i was famished by the time i walked in the door.

also, i can relate to family members bringing in treats, for 11 years i worked in small community hospital in an italian community. Little old italian ladies LOVe to feed people!!!
