Wednesday (19th) to Tuesday (25th) Week of clean eats challenge!

Last week I managed 3 days outta 7. :o This week I'm aiming for at least double that!

Today not off to a bad start, some cereal with soya milk and protein powder

Tonight I've got the groceries being delivered, so I shall have plenty of lean protein, fruit and veggies :D

nicole79 07-19-2006 07:07 AM

okay i will join you. last week was 4 clean out of 7. good start this morning; egg beater omelet with ff cheese and turkey bacon. good luck the rest of the day!!

softballmom 07-19-2006 08:45 AM

I had my official weigh in since vacation. It looks like I gained about a pound over last week. Could still be water since I am just this morning officially off TOM. Will drink the water and contine the cleaner eats, hopefully seeing a decrease next week.

Yesterday's tally was low in calories due to not being hungry.
Cals: 1,042
F: 18% (Sat: 9%) Need to work on the saturated! New guidelines say <7%.
Cb: 59% Need to get this back to < 55%
P: 24%
Fiber: 12g
H20: 48 oz. Need to get this back up to at least 72oz, which is doable.

Thanks for keeping me accountable this week!

srmb60 07-19-2006 09:22 AM

I'm a glutton for punishment. Let me try this again.
no more than 1400 cals/day with more than 30% protein
100 minutes weights
60 minutes walking
60 minutes biking
60 minutes gardening (I've got some dirt to move)

2frustrated 07-19-2006 09:41 AM

Whoops! I slipped up and ate 3 biscuits at work! I don't know how I managed it AT ALL! They just fell into my mouth! I went to have 1, then the next thing I know, I'm eating a 3rd! BAH! I don't think I'll be too bad on calories, and I'll factor them in so that I don't have too bad a day, but jeez! What is with me?

Still going to have a nice healthy dinner tonight and I DID go to the gym at lunch and attempt some pullups, so can't be all bad!

alinnell 07-19-2006 10:46 AM

I'm starting my day 3 of clean eating. Last week was vacation, and since others were in charge of food, I had to eat what I was given--there were a few meals where there was nothing clean!!! I have dropped 1 of my vacation pounds since Sunday!!
yesterday:
1134 calories
28% fat
33% carb
22% protein
18% alcohol (that darned wine again!--I'm going to abstain today.)
I left home this morning without my water bottle or my lunch!!! Aargh!! My car is in the shop getting new tires, and if it is done before lunch, I can run home and pick up my lunch. Otherwise what will I do????

3fcuser1058250 07-19-2006 12:10 PM

Today is looking good...
m1 -- oatmeal and eggwhites
m2 -- oatmeal and protein shake
m3 -- salmon and salad

exercise has been excellent last couple of weeks, exercising is not the problem with me... it's the food :hun:... arghh....

alinnell 07-19-2006 12:36 PM

Ilene, I have a question. My DD wants to try protein drinks, her trainer suggested whey protein. What kinds do you (or anyone else who uses these) recommend? We're going to go shopping this weekend and I know we'll be confronted with a large selection to choose from.
Thanks!!!

nicole79 07-19-2006 07:21 PM

okay lunch was healthy; lean flank steak sandwich and carrots and cucumbers. snack =chocolate darn it!!!! still noit bad on calories. dinner was pot roast with potatoes and carrots. calories are around 1400 right now. tomorrow will be better!!! oh yeah, exercise was 25 min. on treadmill at 3.0 speed and 2.0 incline. excellent for me!!

srmb60 07-19-2006 09:36 PM

Wednesday's tally ....
about 1100 cals 32% protein
15 minutes weights
22 minutes walking
0 minutes biking
90 minutes gardening and I haven't moved all the dirt.

3fcuser1058250 07-19-2006 10:39 PM

Total: 1659
Fat: 21%
Carbs: 31%
Protein: 40%
Alcohol: 8%

Today was good, worked out back and did some cardio, plus I cleaned the pool and siding on the house, I was active and that feels good...

2frustrated 07-20-2006 03:48 AM

Total 1931 - not BAD but not great either, I'm counting it as a high zig zag day. I did eat those bloomin biscuits though, and a little ice lolly slipped in at 83 kcals :halfempty F 31% (bit high!) C 49% (ok) P 20% (a little low)

I was waiting for a grocery delivery for my tea, but I was getting hungry and he was later than expected so I had to have a slice of quiche for tea which was all that was left in the house!

Today I've had raspberries and cottage cheese and strawberries for breakfast, snack is fromage frais with raspberries and pears and banana, lunch is chicken stir fry with lots of veggies and brown rice, afternoon snack is turkey pitta with salad. :T I'm feeling healthy today! :D

softballmom 07-20-2006 08:22 AM

Again my calories are lower than I like, but I just haven't been hungry. Possibly due to too much food last week on vacation, and it's just too dang hot! I've been eating salads (no meat) for dinner this week which are good, but not high calorie food without the meat.

Cals: 1,058
F: 15% (Sat: 6%)
Cb: 57%
P: 21%
Fiber: 14g
H20: ONLY 36 oz. (ugh! - I just didn't drink much either. The only other beverage I had all day was 8oz of 1% milk with dinner)

nicole79 07-20-2006 07:37 PM

today's been pretty good. high fiber cereal and fruit for breakfast. veggies and sandwich for lunch. apple and wheat thins for snack. lastly, chicken with teriyaki sauce and rice for dinner. exercise was 2 mile WATP and 25 min. on treadmill. calories are about 1550 right now.

srmb60 07-20-2006 10:07 PM

Over calories and a wee bit under protein. But I did walk and bike :)

2frustrated 07-21-2006 04:00 AM

Yesterday I was an  :D :D :D

1574 kcals (a bit low, but not too bad) F16%, C43% P40% <---- lookit THAT! I don't think I've ever had a 40% day!

Scales are being kind this morning too! :dancer:

So that's 1.5 outta 2 days (Weds scores a half, because of all the biscuits!)

softballmom 07-21-2006 08:37 AM

Good job Frus! I love the 40% P; how did you do it? I need my protein higher.

Yesterday's tally:
Cal: 1285
F: 22% [Sat. 6%]
Cb: 58%
P: 21% (See, I told you)
Fb: 17g
H2O: 64 oz. I'm getting there...

Yesterday was mostly a fruit/vegetable day. I did have tuna for lunch and my 1% milk with dinner. My fat stats are about the only thing that came in good. Carbs still need to be lower and of course, protein higher. I did get my calories up a couple hundred.

lessthansign3 07-21-2006 12:40 PM

I'm not really sure where I landed calorie-wise yesterday. I think around 1200, but I'm not entirely sure. I often don't count exactly because I get frustrated trying to figure out EXACTLY how many calories things are, so I just eat healthy things and get in my six mini-meals a day. I ate good stuff, though! Plain whole wheat toast, fish marinated in sesame sauce and baked, cauliflower, a medium carrot, protein shake, more wheat toast, peanut butter and flax seed sandwich... Whoo. I don't worry too much about getting enough water. I drink a LOT of water and diet iced tea. I've already had four out of the eight recommended cups and it's only 11:30 :)

Thanks!!!

Hi Alinnell  I use GNC products most of the time because that's all there is in this town... I use GNC Whey Iso Burst, I like it, it easily dilutes in water or milk I always buy vanilla and mix frozen stawberries or mangoes with my handy dandy Braun hand mixer. I also have EAS AdvantEdge Whey Protein in chocolate at the moment, when shaken with the shaker it foams up like a real milkshake, so depending on your DD's pickiness , she may like this one better. Taste in protein shakes is strickly a personal thing, what one person may like the other may hate. At GNC you can buy one serving pouches to try different brands and flavours.

Ilene,
Thanks so much! This will probably be the perfect choice for her. I'll go to our local GNC and let her choose a couple. We're also heading to Clark's Nutrition and I'll see if they have some sample sizes as well so she (and maybe I) can try a few different ones.

2frustrated 07-22-2006 03:04 AM

Another clean day under my belt :D

I'd ran 4.7 miles in the gym and left my post-workout snack at work, so I got something at the petrol station. After circling the shop twice and being sorely tempted by the (low calorie) chocolate bars, I found a small packet of nuts and raisins. :dancer: I'm so glad you can get stuff like that now. 5 years ago it would've been sweets or cakes or crisps and nothing else in the shop.

nicole79 07-22-2006 04:29 PM

yesterday started off clean and went down the drain that night. exercise was 30 min. water aerobics. today has been pretty good. but will be going to a cookout in a hour so kinda worried. i'll let you know.

srmb60 07-22-2006 04:40 PM

Yesterday just was messy for me. Cals are OK but the percentage of calories from gumdrops and wine was not healthy!
And this morning, a lovely man kissed me awake and invited me out to breakfast. So, I've got some correcting to do fat and protein wise :) A little weight lifting wouldn't hurt either.

srmb60 07-23-2006 01:16 PM

Saturday was better. Cals good and 32% protein. I biked and lifted weights.

I've got some things I need to do today but sooner or later I'm going to go back and see what I said I'd do this week and see where I'm at.

2frustrated 07-24-2006 05:08 AM

Saturday - CLEAN
Sunday - CLEAN (and very low calorie :o but was asleep for 4 hours in the middle of the day, so I probably didn't need too many calories!)
Monday - Lookin' good so far... :D

srmb60 07-24-2006 07:28 AM

Yesterday was Ok. Some chips and ice cream, but OK. Protein was only 29%.
DH and I got into the gardening, so I didn't get any gym-style exercise in but it was work!
I'm going to reassess my goals for this week in just a minute here and see what I have to do to come up about right.
My first challenge will be to find a little cash for the neighbour farmer who has a box of green and yellow beans for me.

srmb60 07-24-2006 07:52 AM

Here's where I stand with two days to go.
average 1389 cals with 27% protein
37/100 minutes weights
47/60 minutes walking
39/60 minutes biking
waaaay more than 60 minutes gardening

Apparently weight-lifting is what goes the way of the buffalo if I'm busy outside. Today, I'm going to move broken concrete chunks to the rock pile in a wheel barrow. In my head, I'll know that's good too.

alinnell 07-24-2006 12:49 PM

I don't even want to talk about the way my week ended! My DS was in cooking camp and invited us to lunch Friday--spaghetti (not whole wheat), garlic bread (ditto) and salad. At least I loaded up on salad! That night, the family opted for macaroni and cheese. Ugh!
Saturday and Sunday were better except for the fast food at lunch.
At least my weight did not go up!!!! I'm still looking to lose those last two pounds I gained during vacation.

softballmom 07-24-2006 01:03 PM

Weekend looked good.

Both days averaged out right at 1200 cals.
Yesterday's fats were high, but only 7% Saturated. Ate sunflower seeds watching dd's ballgames. I finally got my Carbs less than 50%, but Protein is still low. Water intake was also pretty good.

2frustrated 07-24-2006 04:57 PM

A whopping amount of protein today :o Carbs approx 30 ish % - that's probably the lowest ever! Fat 28% and probably not much saturated in there - just avocado and salmon that I've been eating!

Feeling virtuous :D

If my eating gets any better I'm going to start linking my fitday so I can brag about it!

3fcuser1058250 07-24-2006 06:48 PM

Today has been good...
1596 cals, a little high, but not bad, it was clean stuff, I think the 6oz of steak I had for supper made it higher than what I like...
22% fat
34% carb
43% protein :D

2frustrated 07-25-2006 04:00 AM

My actual totals for yesterday were...... DRUM ROLL PLEASE!

1673kcals
28% fat (5% saturated)
29% carbs
44% protein :faint:

Today is proving rather difficult - I've run out of veggies :yikes: I'm nibbling carrot sticks now! I've also run out of defrosted meat, so I have BfL apple pie for lunch!!! Meals today are so far consisting of a whacking great omlette with tons of mushrooms and quorn sausages, then for morning meal I think it's going to be a protein shake - or laughing cow cheese with some carrot sticks. Lunch is BfL apple pie. Then I need to go to the shop and get some fromage frais, and some chicken bite things and some vegetables. If I don't have the protien shake in the morning, I'll save it for around kickboxing time. I feel wierd without a plan! I just have to remember protein and veggies, protein and veggies! Oooh I have an avocado too! I should have that somewhere! :dizzy:

srmb60 07-25-2006 08:42 AM

I must work on my protein a bit. Yesterday I ate lots of fruit and vegetables but I probably should have slipped a serving of ff cottage cheese in there somewhere.

alinnell 07-25-2006 11:30 AM

Three days of clean eating and I've finally gotten back to where I was before my vacation! 10 days of vacation damage corrected in 8 days. Not too shabby! Now I can start adjusting my ticker as soon as I lose a pound!

2frustrated 07-26-2006 04:08 AM

Hey I did it! I did the WHOLE WEEK clean! :faint:

Carbing up today ;) Treating myself to some cheesey bread and malt loaf - tomorrow I will be back to being UBER healthy! :D

softballmom 07-26-2006 08:08 AM

I still need to get my carbs down and my proteins up. Calorie intake for the week averaged 1250. But my carbs avg 55% while proteins avg 19%. I had a few good days but the averages speak for themselves :(

I am ready for a new week challenge!

srmb60 07-26-2006 09:19 AM

I'm having trouble with this thread today. This is my third shot at posting my summary for last week. Oh well ....
1449 cals with 26% protein. Not bad.
I did mess up the exercise stuff but have been very active around the house and yard. That's good too.
