Good news, scale dropped back down this morning.
138.4
I’m planning to watch my meals but also starting exercise later this week.
This Friday I have a dinner at a friend’s so I will have a cheat night. However I will need to watch it.

It’s mid month; I’m hoping to drop to at least 136 by end of Feb.

Nice work, Panda! I'm a huge fan of exercise. I know that it doesn't just help me with my calorie counts, but it also just makes me feel better, physically and emotionally.

I don't have a weight from this AM. I actually left the scale I was gonna grab at my folks' house because I'm heading back there for a long weekend tomorrow. I figured it would be annoying to bring it back with me for 2 days and have to haul it back. I did take my weight at gym this evening though, and that was about 143, so I'm pretty sure I've dropped close to 140. Maybe even under. My gym weights have been around 146, so I've gotta be pretty close to the decade cutoff.

That being said, I amazingly stayed below my calories today. I ate at Chipotle tonight because it was my last day at my current place of internship (I have a series of 5 week internships this year). It is absolutely stunning how high-calorie Chipotle is, considering that it's generally thought of as a "heathier" fast food place, what with the whole, real ingredients. My dinner was 1,100 calories and I honestly didn't eat that much. I got a burrito with steak (it was the lowest calorie meat option), brown rice, salsa, and cheese. I skipped sour cream, guac, corn, queso, and a bunch of the other things. I did have about a half a bag of chips, which are pretty high-cal. But still, it's just astounding that that much food, in what looks like reasonable portions, can be that many calories. I mean, my burrito was probably about the size of one and half of my fists (quite a bit smaller than others, since I left so many things off). For something with rice and meat in it, that doesn't seem like an overly large portion size to me. Of course, a pretty sizeable (~300) portion of the calories come from the tortilla, which I probably should have skipped, but... I wanted a tortilla, knew I could keep to my calorie deficit, and it's important to me that I don't feel tooooooo deprived.

Anyway, in order to keep under my calorie goal, I had to have a pretty small lunch (protein shake and cheese stick) and also did 5 miles on the elliptical at the gym. Sheesh, though. It's no wonder almost everyone is a bit bigger than they'd like to be!

Matinee-my weight always goes up a bit with my period. The first time I noticed it (year's ago), it really confused me, because I had never felt like I bloated when I got it, but then I had been weighing myself regularly for a few weeks and my weight went up by like 4 pounds overnight after having a good day of eating/exercise, and I finally figured it was the good ol' TOM. Reading the different threads here too, I believe the bloat is true!

Flower-133 is barely up and from everything I've read you're doing great! Not even half a pound, and it's most likely variations in water. Keep at it! And yes, I thought it would be fun to join the Olympics thread. I do love a good challenge (I had to take a strengths test for school awhile ago, and competition was in my top 5 strengths!), so I should spend more time on that sub-forum, but I'll work my way into it. And thanks on the elliptical comment. Exercise is definitely one of my strengths when it comes to this. I have always been a pretty active person, doing lots of sports throughout middle/high school, college, and even after. That was actually probably the "last straw" that kinda set me on this journey. I always get a bit out of shape over the winter then start up running again in the spring/summer. Well, last summer I went for my first run and was just going to do a quick 2 mile run to get back into gear. IT WAS SO HARD. I barely made it even going at a jog-walk pace. It hadn't been that hard to run that far since I was in elementary school and I've had this little saying for a long time that it doesn't count as a workout until it hits 3 miles, and not being able to do that kinda scared me, so I got my butt in gear!

Panda-Congrats on the scale drop! It sounds like you have a good plan in place for this week! As you can see from my reply for Flower, I'm a huge fan of exercise, so woohoo! I know it just makes me feel a lot better (emotionally) when I'm consistently exercising. What are you planning to start?

As for me, I was 141.2 yesterday and 141.4 today. I'm pretty happy that I only went up a tiny bit today. I may or may not have gone into the fridge and eaten scoops of cookie dough multiple times yesterday and we had turkey teriyaki rice bowls last night. Granted, the turkey teriyaki was homemade, so the rice was brown rice and it was really pretty healthy, but it was definitely still loaded with sodium. And I didn't exercise.

Down to 131.4 today. I increased my water intake from 2 to 3 liters a few days this week. I walked about 5 or 6 days this week but I also added the stationary bike once this week. I'm going to do 2 days on the bike this week plus my walking. The bike is a better cardio workout for me.

fofo bunny: you sound like you are in great shape and very athletic I enjoy exercise as it makes me feel better emotionally as I struggle with depression.

I’ve weighed the same 138.4 for the past seven days.
I am glad it didn’t go up, but need to try harder.

Oh wow, matinee! That is a huge drop! Yeah, that was definitely some bloat right there. I'm glad it ended up coming off so rapidly for you and that you feel better without it too! And congrats on that workout too!

Flower congrats to you too! I love water as well, and think it just makes me feel better overall when I'm well-hydrated, even if I'm not thinking of it as helping with weightloss much. And yes! Exercise really is fantastic. I am fortunate to lucked out on the genetic lottery and don't suffer from depression, but even so it's amazing what it can do for your mood. I'm just less cranky. I truly believe that almost every one's life would improve with exercise. Still, even if you enjoy it like I do, it can be hard to go do it. I'd much rather be outside and when the weather is cruddy, it's sure hard to get motivated.

Panda, I know it's rough, but you are doing great! It is nice you're staying steady instead of going up. Hopefully your body is getting ready for a big drop. Now, as far as I'm aware, this doesn't have too much scientific backing, but my anecdotal evidence agrees with it, but I read a thing once where what actually prompts our bodies to drop a bunch of weight while dieting (if you're stuck plateauing) can often be a day with an increase in calories. It mentioned one study (I don't remember the details, and didn't read the actual study so don't know how good it actually was), but it compared two groups of men on the same low-cal diet, however one group of men got a large "celebratory meal" type thing about halfway through the experiment and those men dropped a lot the day after the meal. Anyway, I know that I'll frequently be eating really well for awhile, then have a pretty big cheat day with lots of fat and sugar and salt (like going to the state fair....) and then drop 3 pounds the next morning. Anyway, I'm not suggesting that you should definitely try this (unless you want to), but more saying that you're probably losing fat, but your body is holding on to a bit of it and water and just not wanting to let go at this time.

As for me, it was my birthday on Sunday and I definitely did not eat well over the last weekend. But, kind of running off of what I said to Panda, I think I actually dropped a bit of weight. I forgot to bring the digital scale back with me (ugh), but the regular scale had me around 140 and from trying to compare morning weights on that one to the digital one, I think they're at least fairly close. Of course, part of that drop could be that yesterday was pretty stressful (small car accident, no injuries) and I didn't eat much. I sometimes pull the "eat everything in sight" when I'm stressed and sometimes the "don't eat much of anything" and yesterday was a "don't eat much of anything" sort of day.
