Miss Fit - my scale does that all the time too!! When it starts to do it repeatedly I change the batteries.

Vix - I have moved the number on a my ticker a couple times also but I've still never got all the way there. Giving yourself a 5 lb maintenance cushion is a good idea.

I had horrid week, or 10 days. I barely worked out and ate and drank... so I am above 140 :cry:... But I refuse to post at the 140's thread!!! :lol: -- I am hoping this will be a brief visit to the 140's and I will be back soon. -- I really need to get closer to 135 that I would not have these up swings.

Toni I am totally addicted to my fitbit. -- It certainly does motivate one. I did not wear mine last week; I did not workout etc...and it shows :(

Weighed in at 139.4 this morning. I guess I must try harder. I have a Fitbit, too. I've had it for 6 months now. Unfortunately, I haven't lost anything since getting it. It's probably because I always eat over my calorie allotment. Just the other night, be were out for a family walk and my son was walking behind me. I was talking about the Fitbit, and he piped up and said "Obviously, it's not working." Kids, brutally honest.....but, he's right.
Yes, maybe I should change the batteries in the scale. When I first stepped on it this morning, it said 143 - I flipped! I also refuse to join in the 140's thread! I'm dangerously close.

Back from the Swiss Alps. Had a fabulous time, ate reasonable amounts of delicious food. Walked and hiked over 90 miles in 9 days, woohoo! I see and feel changes in my body- several people have commented as well that they think I've slimmed down a bit since June. I feel it in my clothing too.

The scale hasn't budged an inch though. :dunno: I'm slightly mystified by this, but honestly I'd rather celebrate my slimmer, fitter body than a number on the scale. So here's to an awesome July for all of the Featherweights- let's get to it ladies! :cp:

Loves to travel - 90 miles in 9 days, that's amazing!! You should feel so good! I've heard that a drastic increase in physical activity can increase your blood volume and it takes a few weeks to level off so that might account for the scale not budging?? Unless you were just as active before.

I'm also refusing to go to the 140's thread, hoping my numbers will drop again after TOM.

Wow Loves to Travel, sounds like a great trip!! All the walking, wow, very impressed!! You have probably toned up so much and built lots of lean muscle, so that's why the scale is the same, but underneath that number lies the true story that you've lost fat and gained muscle. A number on a scale can be pretty arbitrary sometimes, your body is a much better guide. Well done!!! Did you eat ALL the cheese?! I know I would!! Hahaha

I reached a milestone today, I met my target!!! In fact, I was 0.2 under. But where were the balloons and congratulations on my ticker?! Nowhere! It just said very matter-of-fact, '0.2 below your target' Distinctly unimpressed, I moved my target down to 130 so now it says 4.8 to go. I just wonder how long this last 5lbs will take... groan!

I weighed early as I'm off on a trip tonight with my girls, sister and mum to visit my grandpa as it's his birthday tomorrow too!

Toni, I wish I was that active all the time! My sibling and I were remarking at the end of the trip that we'll need to enjoy our new legs of steel while they last. :D And I'm sure once TOM is over you'll see your weight drop again if you're sticking with healthy habits. Hang in there.

Vix, a little cheese and bread everyday! I especially love the hard crusty bread they use, I'm not sure I can happily go back to "regular" bagged bread again. Definitely in agreement about using my body as the main guide and not the scale number.

And congratulations on hitting your target, that's fantastic! Maybe no balloons, but I hope you gave yourself a big pat on the back for all of your hard work. From the info in your signature, it looks like you've lost the weight pretty quick so those last 5 pounds might not take as long as you think. Safe travels!

I am still not quite back officially, but hoping to be in my 130's in a day or two...

I am super motivated right now; I am going back home (Finland) for a visit in early September, in 8 1/2 weeks to be exact. Last time I was over 170 pounds, slow and sluggish. I have lost 30 pounds, but another 10 would add a real wow factor. -- Now the sizing is starting to run by. I would love to be a SOLID size 6 for my trip; 130 pounds. So I have 8 1/2 weeks to lose 11.8 pounds. Can I do it??? :eek: I know I can if I really try hard.

I was 140 this morning. I could not get the scale budge to 139.8 :lol3: Well there is tomorrow.

I feel super motivated; I have stayed OP now 2 days in a row; ha! It is just cutting the binge cycle that is hard, once it is broken the OP days become easy. I told one of the members, Rennie, that the OP days almost become an addiction after awhile.

Miss Fitt How old are you? -- I will be 47 this year (OMG that sounds REALLY old; I feel like I am 30-something)... it definitely is an uphill battle...but doable. If I put my mind to it, I do lose weight. I just have to be more diligent now-a-days.

No I'm still 140.something :( but I have a renewed sense of motivation today. When that happens I usually have a good couple weeks of losing weight. Its blazing hot out today and I feel like a cow in my swimming suit and I don't want another day to go by like this. Enough is enough!!

I am here to stay, I keep saying that, but this time I mean it, really mean it! I lost another 0.8 pounds of bloat, yay me! I have lost 5.6 pounds of bloat since last Monday. I think the weight-loss will come to a crawl now, but as long as I go downwards, I won't care. I can't wait to be below 135, then I will feel like that I can breathe. I bounce up so easy; I can go from 137 to 142 in one day :no:

Today is a fast day; I follow the 5:2 plan. I am not expecting any drastic losses because last week was so whirl wind. If I stay at 137.x, I will be happy... if by some miracle I get to see 136.x, that would make me joyous!

Hi all...I'm finally back in town after 2 weeks in Europe. It was a blast, and I was pleasantly surprised to see I had not gained weight. Weighed in this morning at 134.6. Though I did a fair bit of walking I had done a fair bit of eating too, so I hadn't figured I would stay in the middle of the 130s.

I'm trying to get back on the healthy diet wagon today. I was too exhausted/sickly to go grocery shopping yesterday so unfortunately I'll have to go after work today. I fell in love with skyr in Iceland so it's my mission to find some state-side! Plus I feel the need to eat lots and lots of fresh vegetables.

I'm dreading dance class tonight. I do love dancing, but I have been off it for 2 weeks without much rigorous aerobic activity, am now back at 5000 ft above sea level (lacking oxygen), and I picked up a cold from my travel friend the last day of our trip.

Hey everyone! Hope you all enjoyed a nice 4th of July. I had a quiet relaxing weekend with my family and it was lovely, lots of fun times!

Loves to travel, mmm hard crusty bread, and cheese, so delicious!!! And how great to be able to eat (almost) what you like and still come back with luscious legs thanks to all that walking, this is how life should be I think!

It doesnít feel like itís gone that quickly, but then I guess 35 pounds in around 8 months is ok, I expected it to be quicker but I havenít exactly been starving myself, I have just upped the fruit veggie intake, swapped all white carbs for whole grain ones and have less treats and less wine and more water. I was always thinking long term so I didnít want to go too drastic and I think this is definitely something I can keep up for good.

Well done Sum for getting back to where you belong in the 130s! Sounds like youíre on a roll!!

Atmos, how lovely going to Iceland! I always wanted to go there! Was it beautiful? Very intrigued to find out what skyr is too...

I'm 51, so yup, it is a battle. Sometimes I wonder if it's worth it. Maybe I should just be happy where I am...as long as I'm not gaining.

tonimaroni - Skyr is traditional yogurt made in Iceland. It is a strained yogurt so similar to Greek, except it is made with skim milk so it is nearly fat free typically. I found it less of a sour taste and much creamier than Greek yogurt I've had in the states. I ate it for basically every meal I could while I was there!

vix - It was very lovely! I was only there for a couple days as a stopover on the way home from Europe, but we took a tour of the south coast. Lots of mountains, volcanic features, tundra, etc. Black sand beaches. We got to walk on a glacier as well. It was all very beautiful, but it was very cold! When I left Reykjavik to come home it was 45F and very windy. Our guide for the tour said that wasn't typical, and July usually isn't very rainy and that the temperature is more in the 60s. It was a shock coming home to 90F after that.

Sum - Well done on your weigh in! My trip was mainly to Scotland and northern England. We took Icelandair which has a direct flight from Denver to Reykjavik, so on the way home we stopped over for a few days. They run a deal where you can have an extra long layover in Reykjavik for the same price as a normal one hour-ish layover. It was an okay airline, not bad but not great. It was nice to have a direct flight back home, though. I'm pretty much in love with Scotland now.

Yesterday I ended up not minding my calories nor going to dance on account of feeling bad with my cold. Much better today though, and I must go to my teams class tonight, so I'm just trying again. I think I may finally be over my jet lag, which helps immensely. I must get myself groceries and finish unpacking/putting away Sunday's laundry. A clean environment helps me so much. I've been a mess since getting home.

atmos Was this your first trip overseas? -- I am assuming that you live in US? -- We lived in London for a few years, unfortunately the kids were quite little so we did not do that much traveling around the Great Britain. We traveled to Portugal a lot because my sister has a vacation home over there, and it was easy to hang out on beaches with young and active children.

sum - Yep I'm from the US. I've been out of the country 6 times now if I remember correctly. This was my second trip to Europe. Last time I went to Sweden, Germany, and Italy.

Went way over calories today but had a good (hard) dance class tonight. Finally replenished my groceries so tomorrow should be easier.

I weighed-in at 139.6 lbs yesterday and 138.6 lbs this morning and I don't plan on going back to the 140s so I'm gonna join you all :) I actually hit 138.2 lbs about 2 weeks ago but then PMS/TOM took over and I overate for about a week which, obviously, led to weight gain. Most of the bloat is gone and I've been back on track!

I'm hoping to see 137.8 lbs on Saturday. I don't know if it's doable since I already lost a lot of water weight but I'm gonna eat healthy and hit the gym, so we'll see. As long as the scale shows a downward trend, I'm happy.
Saturday will be a very high-calorie day since it's my brother's graduation. His school is hosting a fancy ball and there will be an all-you-can-eat buffet. On top of that, DH will be taking his final exam that same morning, so it's just gonna be a day full of celebration :)

Hoopty - Welcome! I loved visiting Germany. A good part of my ancestral heritage is German. I visited first a very small town near the Schwarzwald called Bickelsberg. This is where some of my ancestors were from. I visited with the pastor and got to see my ancestors' church, plus he showed me the old church books and I found the family in it!

We then spent time in the Schwarzwald at a town called Lenzkirch. Then off to Munich to catch the train to Italy with a stop at Schloss Neuschwanstein (we didn't go in but saw the landscape around it). Munich was a bad experience trying to drop off the rental car among a bunch of one way streets, plus our German friend being cranky from driving for 5 hours (which is not too much to someone from the US, but I guess in Germany you do not need to drive so long very often!).

I'd like to go back to Munich to have a positive experience. The city looked neat, but we were just there one night and to catch a train. I'd also like to see more of Bavaria and also see Mecklenburg, where my paternal ancestors are from. We didn't spend a lot of time in Germany on our trip. Our German friend we were traveling with didn't really seem to understand why we wanted to see it. :) She didn't want to spend much time in Germany over Sweden and Italy. Most of our trip ended up being Italy/Sicily.

It's the traveling conundrum - Do I go see one of the many, many places left on my travel list, or do I go back to see the beautiful places I'm missing but have already visited?

Sum, thanks for the encouragement, I guess it is pretty quick, maybe I've just been brainwashed by advertising into thinking weight loss is typically about 10lbs a month, but that is more likely to be with people starting out at 300lbs and whatnot. Yes I am still taking the phen caps. A couple times I have missed them and noticed more the next day that I was lacking something. I am thinking of halving my dose from two to one per day to see if I can come off them slowly as although they're natural and no side effects, I want to be able to manage on my own too.

Loves to Travel, your trip sounds amazing, I bet you saw gorgeous scenery in Scotland and Iceland, and the skyr too sounds great, if you do find it here let me know which store!

I know what you mean Atmos, I wonder about if I should revisit places I loved and see more of them or with a different person, or explore new places. My main idea is, if it's somewhere I could visit when I'm older and still have a great time (more scenery, walks etc and not too harsh) then it can wait and I'll go somewhere new, but if it's more for a younger person then I should revisit sooner rather than later so it holds the same appeal and I get to re-experience great memories.

137.6 lbs this morning, which was a huge surprise. I don't usually drop this much unless I hit the gym, which I didn't last night and I won't be today since I have to work late. Calories have been low these past 2 days, so I'm gonna up them today. Hopefully the scale stays at or below 137.6 lbs tomorrow and Saturday as well! :crossed:

atmos - Munich is absolutely beautiful. Very expensive if you wanna live there but it's worth it. My brother will be moving there this fall to attend university. 5 hours is definitely considered a long drive over here. It would take me 8 hours to get to Munich by car. In the US, that's nothing. DH drove 14 hours from Upstate NY to Florida and I thought that was crazy, lol. If I were you, I would come back to visit again and then do what you want to do without someone holding you back.

vix - I remember you too, woohooo! :D Yes, this is my first time here even though I have weighed 138.2 lbs a few weeks ago but I thought I'd wait until I see 137 lbs on the scale. Then I overate, gained, but now I'm back. How have you been doing?

Sum38 - You drop weight really fast though, you're probably gonna see a lower number on the scale very, very soon.

sum - You seem to fluctuate a bit due to your fasting diet (is fasting the right word for it?). Have you considered doing a moving average? It would capture upward/downward trends and perhaps wouldn't lead to feelings of bummed out-ness.

Hoopty - Absolutely. I have nothing against Munich, I just didn't have the greatest time personally! I would want to visit Bavaria again if I get back, so Munich could definitely be on my list as well. My driving record is 15 hours in one go, anything longer than that gets spaced out between multiple days or at least switching drivers.

Of course, there are all those other places I still want to go. Peru, Spain, Norway, Finland, Russia, Japan, Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Antarctica, Tanzania, Egypt, Nepal, Mongolia, Thailand, Cambodia, Papua New Guinea, Turkey, Czech Republic, Poland, Greece, Croatia, Latvia, Denmark, Portugal, France, Morocco, Mexico, Panama...I'm sure some of the list is missing! And that doesn't even include my desire to return to Canada, Taiwan, Iceland, Scotland, and Germany, as well as many places still in the USA!

So much travel, so little time/money.

On the diet side...I totally did not exercise and binged out yesterday. I don't know if I'm coming down from the travel high or what. I just really didn't want anything to do with anything after work. Binge eating is my way of escaping both simple responsibilities (like how I needed to clean, cook dinner, and exercise yesterday) and ignoring emotional issues. I...really have a poor opinion of myself.

I totally share this conundrum. Certain places and I have "unfinished business" and the itch to return ASAP is strong. Switzerland was one of those places, this was my third time visiting in 3 years. Next stop is Peru to hike the Inca Trail while my knees are still in good shape. :D

Vix, 35 pounds in less than a year is an achievement you should be proud of, particularly because you made healthy, sustainable changes. That seems to be a really important factor in keeping the weight off.

Miss Fit, keep up the good fight- even if it's simply to maintain your loss!

atmos, you keep on keepin' on too. We've all got our personal demons, it's tough. I hope tomorrow is better, go easy on yourself. :hug:

Yesterday went well. I actually stayed in calories and of course had a 2 hour dance class. It was tough because I was learning all new steps, but I'll get over it.

Hey everyone!! I'm down another pound this week!! I thought it would take a few weeks to pass this 135-ish stage as I'd heard that our bodies like being certain weights and I don't remember going below that, like EVER! But wooo anyway!!

Oh atmos, so true, so little time and/or money to do all the travelling! I have a friend in Tokyo at the moment and since Japan has been on my list for a long time I'm thinking I should go while she's there as I haven't seen her for a couple years - she says spring is beautiful but her visa expires in April so it seems that next March is the best time to go. The flights are actually not as bad as I expected, a good $400 less than I had in my head, so I think I will go for it!

Keep going Sum!! 135 will be yours again!!

vix - Well done on the loss! You should definitely go for the Japan trip. It's important to grab travel opportunities as they come.

Over weight loss but within maintenance calories yesterday, and 1 hour of practicing for dance. I'll take it. Tomorrow is my weigh in day for the challenge I'm doing. I have no idea what to expect as it has taken me a while to start easing into the swing of things after my trip. I'll be happy if I stay under 135.

Just a quick update since I'm on my phone (I HATE touchscreens)

I was off plan yesterday, I guess I started my weekend celebrations early. I had lots of chocolate and peanuts and ended the day at about 3400 calories though I did go to the gym. The scale said 139.6 lbs this morning which I was okay with.
DH and I just came back from my brother's graduation party. My whole family was there and we had a really, really good time. There was a buffet and I had a little something of almost everything (curry chicken, beef, homefries, potato au gratin, salad, french fries) plus 3 small jars of raspberry tiramisu. I have no idea how many calories but I wasn't gonna count them all anyways.
So, my weight is going to be back in the 140s tomorrow but I'm sure it'll go back down in maybe 2-3 days. I hit the gym this morning and DH and I plan on going tomorrow as well.

hoopty - Raspberry tiramisu sounds awesome. Sounds like you have a good attitude regarding going a little off plan for a couple days. Makes the whole "lifestyle change" thing easier to live with!

I went for a hike this morning and did some bike commuting today, so I'm a bit tired! I also enjoyed a loss at today's weigh in...down to 133 lbs! I haven't been this weight since before Thanksgiving.

Flirting awfully close to the 140 mark, need to do better. Kinda took latter part of last week off; son had baseball and life in general happened.

I will walk the pup after my volunteer day at the hospital; back to weight lifting tomorrow.

I will focus on 5:2 this week too, today is my fast day.
