Wow, so many people in the 140's! I feel like I'm in good company. I only just started even thinking about dieting, but I have to say, it's neat to "meet" other people who are doing the same thing. I feel overwhelmed, but I also just checked the scale and saw that I'm in the low 140's, so maybe I can just concentrate on "getting out of the 140's" like this thread says for now!
How many pounds are you guys usually losing in a week? Just curious! |
Hi, Jenjen, and welcome!
I am not really aiming to lose any number of pounds a week. I am trying to focus on the process and hope that weight loss will follow. I've been through this more times than I'd like to count, so this time I am trying to make make peace with a livable way of eating (for me), which may mean settling for a higher goal weight than I have in the past. I think a couple of the other folks have managed to move on to a 130's thread. Since you say you only have a few pounds to lose to get out of the 140's, maybe you can join them soon! :) Feel free to post as often as you want. I try to post my progress daily, but others post weekly. I had a pretty good day yesterday, both eating and exercise. The scale clocked in at 142.6. :) I'm glad to see a lower number, because it looks like I'll have to eat a buffet lunch on Thursday so I want to feel like I've been making progress before I hit that bump. |
Hey everyone!!
Sad to see shr1nk1ng has gone, but glad to see a couple familiar faces are still here with me!! I was absolutely swamped with work last week and had no time to do anything other than sleep if I wasn't working, which was so frustrating as I couldn't concentrate half the time and I could have gotten more done if I'd let myself have a half an hour workout and then gone back to the work, but at the time I didn't see it like that. Lesson learned!! However, I still did lose a pound which is good when I'm pretty close and barely did any exercise. Glad I owned my weekend workout before the work came flooding in!! Yoyoma, green curry sauce with salmon sounds divine!! Mmmm, you have the best food in your house! Glad that pea soup's revenge didn't last too long! |
Shrinking, sorry you've been swamped. Getting swamped makes losing weight even more challenging for me with the stress, possibly sleep deprivation, no time to exercise, etc. It's fantastic that you still lost a pound!
Yesterday I didn't have time to exercise but I thought my eating was good. However, the scale this morning was up substantially to 144.6. Boy, this is a very annoying new trend of up and down. |
Yesterday was a pretty good day for exercise and eating. This morning, the scale was at 144.4, which confirms the inexplicable jump up from the previous day. Today is a mandatory lunch at an all-you-can-eat vegetarian Indian restaurant, which is a perfect storm for me. I've decided to attend but just say I'm fasting. I just do not want to deal with this lunch on top of the mysterious weight gain. I had planned on making the lunch an exception today, but that was before the train wreck on the scale. Also, I had zero time this morning for the treadmill so that in itself would be a deterrent.
|
Still hanging tightly onto the 140's. I just can not seem to get quite OP 100%.
144.2 this morning |
Still 143.3 myself this morning....but I'm hoping it has something to do with hitting the gym for the first time in years and getting the muscle water weight I hear people talk about, haha.
Thanks for the welcome! I'm hoping to really push myself for this first week and be out of the 140's by next Thursday, but we'll see! Husband is making things difficult. |
No time to exercise yesterday, but I did go to the lunch without eating. Bizarrely, not only was I not hungry at lunchtime, but I wasn't hungry even at dinner time. I ate some dinner anyway, including more nuts than usual just to make sure I was getting a decent calorie count. Maybe I wasn't hungry because I didn't exercise(?).
Anyway, the scale was at 144.0 this morning, so at least I'm back even with my ticker again. :) |
Hey everyone!! Squeezed out a small 0.7 pound loss this week, so I'll be here a while longer!
Nothing much to report but I am less busy this week so I've had more time for exercise and doing things right, so it's odd I lost more last week. Anyways, have a great weekend!! |
144.4 this am... must really get my act together.
Eating has been Op for three days () and today I will do aerobics and walk the pup. Maybe I'll see a lower number for tomorrow's weekly weigh in :crossed: |
Some exercise but not a lot yesterday. Normal/good eating.
Scale was down to 143.2. :) I really don't like weighing in above my ticker, which is why I'm conservative about moving it. That had been working well for me (since I'm post-menopausal now) until my recent big unexplained bump up. I guess I just have to expect that it will still happen sometimes. As long as the trend is in the right direction, I'm fine. The problem is that it's a lot harder to be sure of that with such a "noisy signal." |
I had a great exercise day; walked 4.2 miles in 65 min and did 60 minutes of step aerobics.
Eating was spot on as well. Scale rewarded me with a nearly 2 pound drop :goodscale 142.6 I feel that my motivation is creeping back in. |
I haven't been posting because I haven't been able to dip below 150!! So irritating...my goal is to be 149 by the end of next week..and 140 at the end of the month....
|
Hi, Zumba! Hope you kick the 150's goodbye soon!
Sum, it's great you're getting your mojo back! Vix, glad you registered another loss! Yesterday was a beautiful day and I had time to take a nice long hike in the woods with DH and our dog. Did well for food too. Today the scale was at 143.0. :) |
141.4
|
Yesterday I had no time to exercise and we ate out and it shows on the scale today at 145.0. At least this time there's a reason!
|
The same as yesterday 141.4
|
Yesterday was great on exercise but not perfect on food (a home-baked dessert made its way into the house last night and I partook of a piece, outside my eating window to boot). The scale was at 144.2 this morning. Unfortunately, I'll be too busy to exercise much today.
|
Yesterday was an "okay" day eating wise...I ate some easter candy. But I worked out 170 minutes!
Scale rewarded me with a handsome 1.8 pound drop which brought me into my 130's; 139.6. Let's hope that it will stick!! |
Hi mind if I join in I've been stuck for a little while now so not weighing in for a few weeks to stop myself falling head first into a tub of ice cream, weighed in at 144.8 on sunday and hoping to be out of the 140's by the 18th May taken up the dreaded 30DS again so fingers crossed i'll get out of my stall!!
|
Well done sum!!
Hey sheena, come on in and join us!! Whats the 30DS? Mmm homemade dessert is hard to resist yoyoma, I don't blame you for giving in!! I had a good weekend, a trip out with my daughters and some friends on Saturday turned into a bit of an unexpected hike with some great views, luckily the girls didn't complain too much and we all enjoyed ourselves a lot, then Sunday was pretty relaxed. How were your weekends? |
Hi Vix, its Jillian Michaels 30 day shred, it HURTS so bad but the results seem to be sooooo goood!! Sounds like you had a lovely weekend!
|
ok day 4 down of the 30DS , 24 more to go!!
Stayed on track with calories and carbs, a little bit on the low side but away for the weekend so it will probably all balance out. I'm just hoping that when my 5 weeks are up I will be below 10 st, it would be amazing, I don't ever remember being below 10! |
Sheena, good on you for tackling 30DS! What a great milestone 140 lbs is when thinking of it as 10 stones!
Vix, glad you had a great weekend :) . Mine was great too... did some hiking on Saturday and a play & dinner out on Sunday (so a good day and a not-so-good day weight-wise). Sum, you're going great! Yesterday, low exercise good/normal eating. The scale is down to 143.8. Whew, back to ticker weight! :) |
Good exercise and eating yesterday and the scale is down to 143.4. :) Unfortunately, I won't have much time to exercise today.
|
Sheena, I've heard of Jillian Michaels, she sounds tough - is it a workout DVD? I might look into doing something like that...
I like the 10 stone idea too, they do say 'a perfect 10', so it'd be great to be smaller than that! Cool how we both got some hiking in on Saturday yoyoma, I think that more than makes up for dinner out too! Great work on the scale! What are everyone's easter plans? I don't have any days off unfortunately but my mom is cooking chicken for the family on Sunday so I'll be round there with a plate of veggies as my offerings! |
Just rejoining the boards after a couple months away due to a big move! And I dropped from 150 into the 140's so I guess I'll make my new home here :)
4/17: 147.0 |
UA, welcome, congrats on the big move and your weight loss. It must have been tough to lose during a big shakeup in your life!
Vix, Like you, I'm bringing the veggie platter (to my brother's) on Sunday. Since the meal is mid-day it's going to have to be an exception day, not to mention the inevitable treats. Yesterday was low on exercise, good-for-the-circumstances on food (a surprise outing). Scale holding steady at 143.4. |
I think I can say good bye... I was 137.2 this morning :) See you all at 130's hangout
|
Bye, Sum! Congrats and good luck in the lower levels!
Yesterday was medium exercise and good eating, but the scale is up to 144.4. I think it's just due the large salad last night but the numbers are clearly not trending down these past few weeks. Today is an outing, with dinner out baked into the cake and I will be celebrating Easter tomorrow, but come Monday I will be retooling my eating rules a little. |
I kind of cheated on losing during my move... right after I got to NH I got a bad stomach bug one weekend, so that's where about 3 lbs went. But the lower number on the scale spurred me to start tracking my food again and jumping back on here to keep it off :)
This morning I volunteered with a community cleanup group, so instead of a regular workout I did three hours of yard work! Whew! 4/17: 147 4/19: 147 |
Hi, UA, sorry about the bug but glad you were able to use it to get motivated. Nice that you could combine exercise and volunteering!
Yesterday we walked around a college campus and did some shopping. Then we used a soon-to-expire Groupon for a fantastic dinner; too much food porn to list the details but my entree was braised duck. Despite having a cocktail and dessert, the scale was down from yesterday to 144.0 this morning, so I'm even with the ticker again. Originally I had a very modest goal of 144.0 for Easter, so I'll take it gladly. :) I'm sure my luck won't hold out after another day of off eating today (not only will the food be off, but my schedule will be off), so I'm already planning some tweaks to my eating rules starting tomorrow. To make sure I'm moving (albeit slowly) in the right direction, I'm going to set a goal of 143 (on the ticker) for Memorial Day. It that doesn't happen by then, I'll re-evaluate what I'm doing. |
I am finally able to join the 140s group. I have had 12 straight days without bouncing back to the150s and my weight was at 146.6 this am.
|
Hi, BB, and welcome! The scale has been bouncing a lot for me too lately. I don't mind it so much when I understand the cause, but sometimes it's a complete mystery to me.
No mystery today, though. The scale was up to 145.8 but after Easter celebrations that was no surprise. So, I'm going to start with less lenient eating rules today so I can actually make some progress in shaking off some weight. |
Good exercise and eating yesterday (I love how easy it is to get back to my WOE after an off day). :) Scale improved on yesterday to 145.0, but there's still some Easter excess left to shed.
|
Hi everyone,
I've been around this board on and off for years - I got married and got a desk job in December and have managed to gain 10 lbs. I'd like to join this thread while I try and get it off! I am working out 5 days a week - spinning, bootcamp, weight training and trying this new diet called the NOSDiet - basically you eat no snacks, no sweets, and take no seconds except sometimes on weekends or holidays. Calorie counting tends to make me obsess and binge eat so I am giving this a try. Nice to 'meet' you all! |
Hey and welcome to buddha belly, underanalysis and LisaTCan!!
Sunday was pretty good, my veggies were a hit and I avoided chocolate woo!! Lisa that diet sounds good, and pretty simple to follow!! |
Congrats, Vix, you were strong! Sunday was an off day for me.
Welcome LisaT! It's great that you are taking care of that ten pound gain now. Sounds like you have a sensible plan and plenty of exercise. Yesterday was good on exercise (for a work day) and food. I've basically gone back to my original food rules. I retroactively calculated my calories at around 1400 (just for a sanity check; I'm not CCing) and the rule tweaks saved at least 150 calories, probably more. This morning, the scale was down to 143.8, so I'm back in ticker territory. :) Time to make some progress! |
Great news yoyoma!! If those tweaks don't feel much different and save cals then that's good math!!
|
Had a good day yesterday; the scale is up to 144.2, but I think it's because I ate a ginormous salad yesterday for dinner so there's some extra roughage in the pipeline (sorry if that's TMI). Unfortunately, not much time to exercise today, but I'll get in what I can.
