Oh, I forgot how chatty you ladies are! :D
Can't keep up right now but wanted to say good morning. :coffee: |
Good morning Feathers!
I am not going to weigh in everyday so I wont have updates on that. I think I will weigh every two weeks. I care more about my clothes getting looser :D @Turbo - Im curious about people who weigh in every day when they dont count calories. The only reason I say that is because my weight fluctuates so much with water weight. Like if I eat lets say 1300 calories and then weigh in the next day lets say its 135.8. And then ate 1600 calories that day and weighed in the next day, my weight would go up to like 137 just in water weight! So how do you all accurately weigh yourselves? You said you started working out which has probably helped with your weight loss. What does your weekly exercise plan look like? @olechat - OH my! I HATE when that happens. You try to be good and then BAM you get hit with a surprise of TWO servings. That has happened to me and being the masochist I am, I binge! Good for you for brushing it off! Not much to report right now. Have a great day feathers! ILl be on here periodically throughout the day! :) |
Just bustin' in with a hearty "Good Mornin'" to all you ladies!
Joss ~ Thank-freakin'-goodness for your weigh in this morning. (I've been spying in the daily weigh-in thread....) Woosh city, lady. We were about to file a complaint on your behalf. ;) Krampus ~ Sorry I missed you yesterday! Sounds like you're starting to recognize your own limits re: nutrition and the gym. Aiming for more protein sounds like the way to go. Hope your friend doesn't end up with the jock strap tool. Yuck! I'm kind of returning to the "IF-ish eating" philosophy, albeit loosely and more for digestive reasons. Dorian ~ That sounds rough w. your mom + sis and the kids. I'm actually roomin' with my mom now. It's not really the ideal situation for either of us, but we get along great and are able to be good support for each other. I was actively looking to move out, but the situation now is that we both had been counting on a contract source for financial support and now that contract is ending. We knew this would happen and honestly, it's about time, but it's going to be rough. (This is the reason for the "rent increase".) She's going to be taking on the mortgage solo and I'm going to be helping... So now the money I had earmarked for moving out/paying down student debt will be going to the mortgage. I'm happy to help out and really again, it's about time, I'm just frustrated b.c it feels like I'm having to work harder just to tread water. Peaks and valleys, though. Diane ~ I only ate four things on Monday, but I ate A LOT of them, so cals for that day averaged out to closer to 1000. I know that's too low to be sustainable, but it goes in cycles. Monday is usually a lower day. Turbo ~ Awwww, Turbo. Re: those cupcakes. Sounds like a lot of work for not a lot of pay off. Was there a sign on them saying: "This is for a good cause"? To my mind, though, it might be that office workers are used to people bringing in "free" goodies all the time, so when they're actually asked to pay for them (no matter what the cause...) it throws 'em for a loop Hurray for Kakers ~ Hunger can be a b*&$%! I just started cutting down my daytime eating (for digestive reasons) and it's a pain dealing with hunger pains (although coming off of close to a month of "big eating", hunger is actually a novelty and shows that we're probably moving in the right direction. Ohlecat ~ Those prepackaged *******s... making themselves feel better about the calorie count by making it for two servings instead of one. *******s, I say! Hurrah for your run. And yes, my weight buddy, if we keep making good decisions, we will get to ideal (in the body's own timeframe)!!! Being "happy" however... shoot... we can have that TODAY. Thebunneh ~ Glad you're here! ~~~ Had an interesting night last night. My limited food list included: bananas (too many) white meat turkey sweet potato cucumber salt and vinegar potato chips (OK, not the smartest, but they were delicious and didn't cause any problems...) Hurray! I'm certainly eating enough in quantity and ended up close to 1400 for total cals. I've also been working in more yoga. Just a few minutes here and there, but it does wonders for my mood. In interesting news, the pics from our orchestra photo shoot are up: http://www.havilandstudio.com/ Enter the site then click Ridgewood Symphony Orchestra. I'm the chick in the very last picture directly underneath the conductor. Hee hee... We call him "Jiminy Conductor" because of his springy-kneed bouncy style. Make it a great day, everyone! |
Alex - Right?! It could not have come a moment sooner either. Yesterday was rough!
I KNOW it's not my coach's fault when my progress slows and that the fluctuations are normal but sometimes it's so hard to look at things objectively and be patient when I'm working so hard. Chalk it up to being part of the microwave generation! Gotta have my results NOW! LOL Dianne - I think a bi-weekly weight check sounds like a great plan. This daily weigh-in stuff sucks sometimes! LOL Do you have a goal size you'd like to be in? I saw your thread about the exercise routines and your question about calories, etc. I would contribute but I feel like mine is an extreme example right now, and I didn't want to make anyone else feel like somehow what they're doing might not be enough. Oh, and I so relate about the all or nothing mentality. I'm getting better about it with time though. It used to be that a single Hershey Kiss meant a massive multi-day binge, and of course I wouldn't workout because "what's the point?" I'm SOOO glad that's not the case anymore! Now I can have indulgent celebratory meals and still hit the gym, stop at one meal, one day, etc. Now I even make healthy versions of things and work chocolate, bacon and other 'naughty' foods into my meals. I know now its just food, and nothing is 'good' or 'bad'. I still struggle with it of course, but not like I used to! Thebunneh - Good morning! :) Hope you're doing well today! Olehcat - Generally I'm really good with serving sizes BUT the dual servings got me a couple of months ago! I found a really awesome looking enchilada pie meal and the macros looked pretty good (about 250 calories, decent amount of protein, etc.) so I bought it for 'emergencies'. One day I ended up missing a meal and came home STARVING and tossed it in the microwave. It was delicious, and I even added a bit of fresh salsa and a dollop of greek yogurt instead of sour cream. It wasn't until after I finished it that I realized there were TWO servings in that tiny little thing. I was irritated at myself for sure, and then because I'm an IDIOT I too (Like Dianne mentioned) decided to just eat whatever else sounded good. Ugh. I'm sure you'll feel better after your run though! BTW, what the heck is your username all about?! I cannot figure out what it means! Ole H*ll Cat maybe? Turbo - Yes ma'am, I made it. I just carried on like normal, had a nice relaxing bath before bed, and when I woke up today the scale was down 2.6 pounds!! I definitely felt better after that! WTF about the cheap wh*res?! LOL I suppose it's all relative but $2 for a cupcake isn't bad per say, but when you hoped to make more, especially after ALL that work, that's disappointing. You probably spent a decent amount just on the ingredients for them all! Whoot for increasing your weights! Thats awesome! Doesn't it feel great to push yourself and see yourself making progress like that? Dorian - I'm glad your BF isn't a pansy! LOL I would hate to think of you sick and taking care of him because he's sick and WHINY! Are you feeling better today? Well, it's Wednesday. Yep. Feels like Wednesday. I'm feeling much better today thanks to that drop, and so glad that I didn't do anything foolish due to my frustration. I even hit the gym hard today and according to my HRM I burned off 1095 calories in my 60 minutes of cardio! Whoot! |
@Alexistrophic - Regarding your vinegar chips, I notice even "not good" foods like chips, breads, etc. arent that bad and dont upset my stomach when there are only a few ingredients. Chips really arent that bad if its just the potato, olive oil and sea salt. I eat things like that to help cravings and it doesnt upset my digestive track!
@Jossfit - Oh man. Sounds just like me (how you used to be). One LITTLE thing off plan and the entire day was blown and yep, had the exercise mentality of, whats the point? This little 200 calories burning exercise is NOTHING to my binge. Then I spend the next hour planning my "new plan". So great you overcame that. I am trying. Slowly but surely. As far as size, yes and no. I KNOW I am meant to be a smaller size. One, ive been there, and two I can just tell. I know my own body. I am currently a size 4. But not really going by numbers. I want to just get to where I am supposed to be. Where my knees dont look bigger because theres too much fat for my structure. I think that size will put me around a 0. So basically two sizes smaller.. We will see though. |

TheBunneh : Good morning to you too! :) Dianne : My weight fluctuates a lot too with water from a day to another. I tried to weight weekly for a while but it was driving me crazy... I prefered WI daily to have the opportunity to see a random low during the week I guess. I do check my weekly loss or gain every friday though, to see if it is clearly going forward :) As for the working out routine, I always did a lot of cardio (running/biking) since I started running 18 months ago. Lately I've added weight training to it to improve muscles definition. I posted more about my weekly work out routine on the thread you started :) Alexis : For the cupcakes : yes, he made up a sign saying for which cause it was and everything (the ironic thing is that it is for the hospital foundation those lab are associated too! it's not like they don't know the institution or anything!). The boyfriend did mention that a lot of people bring free goodies jsut for the pleasure to share on the floor the results of the sale bombed out... Anyyyyways. They are still cheap in my opinion LOL Not even 2$ reached by cupcake.. If you don't want to give money for a good cause, it's fine, just keep your fingers out of the food..! That is a huge orchestra you're part of! The pictures are really nice :) And OMG salt and vinegar chiiiiips. Did you ever tried the Miss Vicky Balsamic vinegar one? They are to die for!! Joss : I saw your WOOOOOOSH while spying the daily WI thread! You must be so thrilled! Specially after having a rough day, talk about a great reward!! Yeah, 2$ for a cupcake isn't that bad, but the thing is that for the one he put on the lower floor, he did not even reached 2$ per cupcake! He hit like 1,60/1,75... I was astonished. The cupcakes were obviously all home made, and it was not some crappy cake mix or something. 1$ is something you give randomly on the street to any cause, and as I was saying to Alexis, if you don't want to give out to a cause closer to you when you actually get a treat in return, at least keep your sticky fingers out of the food :P At least he got close to his goal! OMG, that is a bunch of calories burned for your hour of cardio! GOOD JOB :D *** Hi ladies! Up to 140.6 pounds this morning, but I'm not stressing out much. I did a huge workout tomorrow and I am a bit sore today. Plus I did not poop yesterday, I guess it is not helping. Anyways, I was checking myself out in the mirror last night (that sounds so VAIN bwhahaha) and I was quite please with what I was seeing so far, especially on the shoulders and upper abs (getting flatter, yay). I still dislike the legs though, they are still feeling like big chicken tighs, but I'll get there :) I did had a cupcakes last night from the three that remain from the sale, but they were little cupcakes, so it wasn't that bad. I burned about 600 calories only in cardio yesterday so it probably made it for it anyways :) Plus the dinner was fairly healthy, I had a single WW chicken/red pepper bell fajitas with a bit of salsa and greek yogurt with a green salad and low fat dressing. The plan for tonight is meat/tomatos mac with maybe broccoli on the side to cut down the carb a bit. I'm not sure yet if I'm going to do some workout at home this afternoon, maybe some abs, I feel my legs won't feel cooperative if I squat anyways ;) Have a good day ladies! :) |
Hi Feathers!
I had beer and a burger for dinner and weighed in at 123.8 pounds this morning. Met friends out and it was so nice to hang out with everyone, felt like a taste of spring/summer fun. Some fat man ATE MY BURGER and the cook had to remake it, but it's just funny at this point more than anything. Burger was great - got it with bleu cheese and only ate the bottom part of the bun. Beer was great too, I love how it only takes one to get a buzz going. Have a healthy lunch packed and am planning on making today a cardio day. My roommate's brother is coming over for dinner. He only eats chicken fingers and pizza - wonder what she's going to make? Dianne For me intermittent fasting ish = eating two giant meals starting late in the day. I have coffee with Coffee-mate creamer in the morning and have my first meal at 1-2 PM, second meal at 6-7 PM, but no rules. I have NO IDEA what my macro counts are (sorry!), calories are probably 1800-2000 a day on average, maybe less recently since I seem to be losing. Lifting is good, if I were seriously training and eating for it I'd be doing better, but I have been just tossing weights around since spring 2012 and my body looks SO MUCH BETTER than if I were just dieting and running - and most important of all I can eat a lot! JossFit WOOHOO for whoosh! I don't take any pre-workout supplements or enhancers, maybe that's something to consider if switching macro ratios around doesn't work. I am happy to see you're energized well for all that cardio and making lifting gains!!! Alex Good photos, nice concentration face! Are you first chair viola?? Did your elimination diet day 2 yield the same improvement in gastro results? TheBunneh Morning! olehcat ARGH that is frustrating about the packaged meal. I hate when they do that. Who microwaves a dinner and eats half? You can't refreeze it! Hope you have a good run after work and de-bloat. TurboMammoth Whaaaaaaa? Your boyfriend's downstairs neighbors are a bunch of cheapskates. Hooray for increasing all your DB weights - isn't it nice going to the gym and being able to lift more every week? I didn't do Zumba last night - another time. I'm terribly uncoordinated too and generally a bad dancer. Dorian5 Feeling any better today? Soooooooomeone's going to propoooooooose to youuuuuuuuuuuu! Giada probably only eats the fried wontons with Nutella and starves the rest of the day...seriously very few adult women can actually eat tons of junk and be very thin/lean without effort. |
Joss ~ Even a little bit of yoga can have that effect of feeling *cared for*, at least it does for me. It's just the best thing for me, mind and body. Any time I've lost a significant amount of weight, yoga has been part of my daily routine. I live in my head too much and yoga forces me to come back into my body.
Not sure when I'm going to start adding foods back in. So far, so good with no wheat, dairy, or corn, so I'll probably try to keep it up for a week or so and then gradually add them back in. Dianne ~ I find the same thing about foods with fewer ingredients, except when it comes to sweet. No matter what the form: agave, honey, or haagen daz, sweet foods tend to bring on the cravings. Krampus ~ Yep, I'm 'first stand' viola, but 2 out of 5 really ain't all that impressive. And really the only reason I'm not 3 out of 5 is because the lady behind me "retired" and refuses to sit principal. She's 75 yrs old. She's entitled. Turbo ~ At full strength, we're about 80 people. It's kind of insane. Our personnel manager is a genius. And no, I don't think I've tried the balsamic vinegar potato chips although now that you mention them I'm going to be on the lookout..... |
Happy Wednesday Feathers!
Still pretty sick. I should be staying home from work, but I'm just too busy right now. I can't remember a time where I've felt so congested for such a long period of time. I think it's more than bronchitis because it's not clearing up at all. I've been on antibiotics since Friday, and still no improvements...they should have kicked in a bit by now. I will go back on Friday to the doctor if I don't feel any better. Apparently, there is a respitory "flu" going around...cough, fever, sore throat etc...If that's what I have, the antibiotics won't help at all. I'm still doing my workouts, although they have not been as strong as my energy is low, low and low! No cardio though and I still have a decent appetite. Oh...and BTW, my husband removed my "scale tape". I was pretty upset with him as it's the one thing I asked him not to touch. My weight is all over the place depending where I place the scale on the floor. So, I weigh myself 3 times and go with the middle number. I WILL be putting down another piece of tape! lol! Krampus...How can you eat so much and be losing weight? Send some of that over to me! Olecat...I know it was a few posts ago, but I'm sorry about your ex having a girlfriend. Whenever I broke up with someone (or them with me:), that was THE hardest thing. Not that I necessarily wanted them anymore, I just didn't want anyone else to! This is likely the "rebound" girl, so it wont last! lol! Dorian...Seems like we have the same symptoms! I know how you feel. I could totally take the cough if my head would stop pounding! lol! Now about the ring...it's nice to hint but one thing I totally regret about mine, is that I basically told him what to buy! I SOooo wish I would have let him pick it on his own. I din't even feel surprised by the ring when he proposed because I totally "picked it out", without actually picking it! lol! It would would have been that much more special NOW...(not then when I was obsessed about size, clarity etc..)! LOL! Alex...Those pictures are great! I envy anyone who can plan a musical instrument as I have ZERO musical talent! I can't even keep a tune and I actually make up words to songs, because I never really hear what they are saying! lol! Joss...A big "whooosh" indeed! Way to go! Your hard work is paying off. If I had to do 2 cardio sessions, I would have quit by now! You are a strong and determined person, and there will be more wooshes coming soon! Turbo...When I first started wight training I was lifting pretty light. Not because I could not lift heavier, because I was scared to get hurt. I am fanatic about form, and without some "real" training, I get nervous that I might do damage. My trainer incorporated "Good mornings" and I am still nervous to up the weight to my capacity. I just don't like where the bar sits. BUT...on virtualy everything else, I've doubled, tripled and even quadrupled my weight amount since I started. It does feel great when you see improvements and feel stronger. I can't beleive I didn't weight lift before! I SO wish someone would have told me to try it years ago! Diane...I don't go by size either. I find I can be all over the map depending on the brand, the cut, etc. I love your attitude about scale weight...I SO wish I could break that. TheBunneh...Well I guess it's almost evening...so good evening! lol! Kakers...Sorry...there's so much chatting I can't remember what you posted last! lol! I hope you are doing well :) |
Im just in one of those cranky/whiney moods! I hate those :tantrum:
@Jos - I totally agree. Sizes are crazy nowadays.. You can have a range of 4 different! Its all about how you look and measurements. I dont think a size says anything at all! @Krampus - Oh WOW! 2 times a day?? I dont know if I could do that. But i guess youre not thinking of food all the time which is a plus. Helps with binging. Also, weight training has helped that much?? Do you lift heavy? How long are your weight sessions? Do you lift every day? Youve been lifting for a year now you said? Thats HILARIOUS about the guy eating your burger. MMM I love burgers. How are you losing on burgers and beer?! I guess proportions are everything. And how do you get buzzed off one beer? Waa! Not fair ! @Turbo - Um YUM! Your dinner sounds awesome. I cant wait till I can look in the mirror again and things "not bad". It stinks. You dont know what you have till you lose it. When I was "losing" and "dieting" last time, I was only down like 8-10 pounsd and I wasnt at goal or happy but I was felt, ok not bad. You actually have a decent body now. Man, what I would do to be back there!! My tummy was so little. Damn binging, takes away your tummy no matter what body type you have! I gain in my lower body first but I still dont believe I meant to be "bigger" in any area.. @Alexstrophic - I have to STAY AWAY from sweets. I get the worst and longest cravings. But ironically, I am not sensitive to carbs. I can eat GOOD rice, breads, grains, etc all day long without it hurting my track or cravings.. @Bayzee - Im sick too :) THIRD time this season. I never get sick. WTF hah its been an epidemic!! Hope you feel better! |
wow, normally I do my posting in the morning, haha. I'm still in a bit of a funk, but feel a lot better about things and life. Usually Wednesday night I'm with my writing group, which consists of four of us and we're pretty good friends who are my only real local friends. But it got canceled today, due to my friends all being insanely busy. AND I was preening recently about there being NO snow on the ground for weeks and weeks. So now we're supposed to get a storm tomorrow night, ugh. Well, at least now the timing is that it's waiting until most people are safely home from work/school!
I had a great run today. I did 3.5 miles and I really felt that I was working hard -- my heart rate was up, I felt the burn in my legs and I was drenched with sweat afterwards. Also...you know I've been doing some minor strength training on machines the last few weeks, just twice a week? Well, a minor triumph. We're not supposed to have microwaves in our classrooms because of a supposed fire risk, and so there is only one allowed microwave in the staff break room. There is always a HUGE line for it. The lady I share a classroom with (we teach small groups, that's why there are two of us) has a forbidden microwave, and so in order to keep things super secret, we have to pull it out when we use it and then immediately put it away so nobody catches us with it. So today I was the only one who used it and so as I was putting it away, I realized that it was no strain at all, and that it was easy -- and I realized that I had gotten just a wee bit stronger! :) That was a nice triumph! @TheBunneh - heh, yes this is a chatty group! I love it! It makes me feel like I'm hanging out with some friends at a coffee shop every time I check in! :) @Dianne - I was pretty good today, although I did cave and have a glass of wine! But I did eat minimally for dinner. THe daily fluctuations drive me INSANE with weight, but what I often will do if I get into a good pattern of daily weighing is to take the five-day ongoing average. It's not as flukey! Interesting what you said about sizes -- I feel like I'm meant to be a LOT smaller than I am right now, too. I have been a 2/4 and looked GREAT, and I wasn't even at my ideal weight, so I imagine that if I were my ideal weight, I'd be in zero land, as well! That's an odd thought! (Ugh, right now I'm wearing 8/10, which is HUGE for me) @Alex - YES, happiness today! :) I hope you had a good day! Mine was pretty decent. Work went well and I didn't eat too much. I did have a glass of wine, but I SO WANTED more than a glass and I didn't give in. *feels virtuous* And awww...GREAT picture!!! That's so neat that you guys have official photos! @jossfit - wow, I hear you had a whoosh! AWESOME! :)) That must feel so good after all the waiting! :) And yeah, I was super annoyed about the serving sizes. Stupid. And as for my name? it's my cat's name spelled backward and then "cat," I originally made up the name for diet forums I've been in over the years, hehehe. I'd be mortified if anyone in real life ever "discovered" me on all these diet forums and found out my real weight (haha), I guess that's unlikely, really, so I'm not actually that terribly worried about it, lol. And you are AWESOME with your workouts! @turbo -- I DID have a great run today -- REALLY felt the burn and was sweating hardcore by the end! :) Oh, those little cupcakes sound delicious! @Krampus - LOL on the fat dude eating your burger. wtf? I do feel less bloated after my run, but still really feel icky when I look at myself in the mirror. It's like I'm someone else. It's weird> I really have to crack down on this stuff. At least I need to be back in the 130s, where I was for several years and at least didn't look chubby there! @bayzee - sorry you're still sick! :( I went through that in the whole month of December. Stuff in my lungs-- couldn't stop coughing or breathe right enough to run. I didn't run for about a month and a half because of it! It really sucks. And thank you! Yes, rebound girl. That's what I'm going to call her! :) |
Feeling worse today than I did yesterday. So I've been sick for 5 days straight now. Losing my voice tonight, bleh. SO DONE WITH THIS! Although, because I've been sick I haven't been drinking alcohol at all (save for a shot of whiskey on Sunday to see if it would help the throat -- which it absolutely did.)
Peeked at the scale this morning - I'm up .8 lbs. Oh well, I'll chalk it up to the sickness and dehydration and all that. ---- Dianne042425 - When I'm buckled down and focused, I usually get about a pound a week; I struggled in January to get on track, but February has been great for me so far! YES let's get to 130 together by St. Patty's Day! :carrot: I am counting calories, I make sure to stay around 1200-1300 over the week, but I find my calories closer to 1600/day on the weekend. Haven't been working out except for the daily 1 mile walk with the dog though. :o TurboMammoth - We CRACKED UP seeing that guy catch that puck in mid-air, that was excellent! Sorry about those cheap b!tches cramming cupcakes without donating. I'm sure you're up on the scale because you're retaining water from your workout. Cupcake and dinner sound great, omnomnom. :T olehcat - Multiple servings in a single serving-looking pack drive me CRAZY! The biggest crock is a 20oz soda - 2.5 servings in a bottle!? Enough for you, a friend, and ... what, a midget??! Good luck with your run, sorry you're feeling all bloaty/yucky. :( TheBunneh - Good morning yourself! (well, evening now  ) Hope you made today a great one! Alexistrophic - You are a sweet daughter for helping your mother out. Thank you for your kind words, and I really hope something turns around for both you and your mom. You look so lovely in the orchestra! JossFit - D@MN WOMAN! That is one HECK OF A WEIGH IN! :carrot: Glad it finally turned around for you! krampus - Aw shucks! Guess I really do need to work on getting skinny now, haha -- especially if there are engagement pictures (which I never really understood the point of, is that a southern thing or do people take engagement pictures everywhere?) Anyway, I CANNOT BELIEVE A FAT MAN STOLE YOUR BURGER, omg. How old is your room mates brother? My cousin is like that, he will NOT eat ANYTHING that is a vegetable, he's 35. Phew, I would kill for a buzz after 1 beer. Hope your cardio went well! Bayzee - Yep, sounds like you and I have the exact same thing. It started with this sore throat that felt like I'd swallowed razor blades, then came the headache, now the throat isn't quite as bad but I have a cough and this awful green phlegm-y crap comes up, blech. Pretty consistent low grade fever. I'm impressed you're still doing workouts! That is funny about your scale tape, I move my scale all around the bathroom and take the lowest number I can get! I made it into my kitchen in my underwear once trying to get a level place for the scale -- we have no curtains, if the neighbors saw there's no telling what they thought. :o HOPE YOU START FEELING BETTER! I told beau what diamond shape I like (emerald cut makes me swoon) and that I like 3-stone rings... but after reading what you said, I think I would really like to let him put his own personal touch on it too, thanks for the insight! That would definitely make it more special. olehcat - Almost missed ya! NICE run, I hope you don't get too bad of a snow storm!! I really liked reading about how the microwave was no problem to lift, that's really cool that you're already feeling the difference from weight training. Keep it up! XOXOXO LADIES! |
Dorian ~ YUCK!!! For still being sick!!! (only a .8 gain is a victory in my book. When I'm sick, I tend to eat everything in the house, if only out of boredom.) Hope YOU start to feel better soon!!!
bayzee ~ Oh, the scale tape... lol - the little things that keep us focused... I read about it and was like.. "Oh, that's a good idea." (to keep the scale straight and in the same place, right?) Boo to hubby for moving it. Dianne ~ Interesting thought about the healthy grains... I suppose I'm kind of the same way, although a slice of sprouted wheat, whole grain bread doesn't sound as appealing without a blob of jam on top... (heh) Olehcat ~ High five and way to go on your amazing run. I giggled at your contraband microwave... My goodness... Of all the things to be a fire hazard... and then some kid brings a blowtorch to school or something. Sometimes I feel like the school systems take it to far. Best of intentions, but come on now... I like the sound of your writer's group! How long have you guys been meeting? ~~~ In the food elimination world... *ding ding ding* we may have a winner! I went over to a friend's house for dinner last night and she made (an amazing!) white bean chicken chili. Didn't realize until most of the way through the meal that I was putting cheese on top of it... So since I figured that I already had dairy in my system, I had some yogurt and a bit more cheese when I got home, to see what would happen. Had a little trouble that night, but I was really wrecked this morning. (like MAN was that fast!) Now, I'm not sure if it's only the dairy, or the combination of dairy+meat that did me in. Either way, it feels like a golden clue to what's been going on in my tummy. (If completely cliche... Oh, well...) Even though cals were around 1500, I still woke up with a gain (boo!) but I did eat mostly in the evening (a la moderate IF) I wonder if it was the dairy, the late night eating, or the dates that I added in yesterday. (little calorie bombs, they are...) So I'm cutting out dairy again, eating earlier in the day, but keeping in the dates, so will see what happens... |
Ahhh! Didn't do good last night at dinner. Didnt do horrible but nonetheless, not good. Went to Sweet Tomatos where its a buffet. I got a salad which is great but then I got half a brownie, a big bite of pizza, half a slice of toast, small sweet potato and then I couldnt resist and got the vanilla yogurt with granola. I estimate my daily calories around 2000. Which isnt too bad.. Still at maintenance.
@olehcat - AWESOME on your NSV. I love when you feel and SEE pure evidence of your body changing. Thats so exciting! And PS - I am so jealous about your snow. I have NEVER seen snow. But Im super excited; my boyfriend, sister, her husband and I are all going next month for my birthday to Vail, CO! @Dorian5 - Wow! You have some discipline girl. That means you are eating around 9500 calories a week. Thats a great number to lose on. I just left the counting calories club lol So I dont know if scale wise I will reach goal by St. Patty's day. Maybe inches? HOPEFULLY! And how exciting about the ring. I laughed out loud to your "I should know this stuff" comment. So funny. Are you ready/ excited to get engaged?! @Alexistrophic - Dont worry about the gain. Dairy does that. Makes you bloat! Im sure it will be down tomorrow morning. And yes, I love toppings on my grains but I actually dont mind eating grains without toppings. I just love my breads :D Happy Friday eve everyone! |
Dianne - I don't think you did too bad at dinner at all! There were some things in there you probably could have done without but really, look at your portion sizes; you had 1/2 of a brownie, a BITE of pizza, 1/2 a slice of toast. I mean, c'mon, who has HALF of a brownie and a BITE of pizza?! Thats pretty impressive in my opinion! It's actually easier to not have them at all than it is to have little nibbles and stop IMO.
Where do you live that you've never seen snow?! My husband lives in Colorado (as does my brother and a lot of my husband's family) and I love it there so much! I'm finally moving out there this summer and I can't hardly wait! Alex - Oooh, yeah, definitely could be the dairy! So many people are lactose intolerant to one degree or another, and it tends to get progressively worse with age. The easy thing to do is cut it out or limit it, but the tricky thing is that having less of it actually forces your body to produce even less lactase to break it down, so when you DO have a bit here and there it's much worse and harder to digest. I suggest you keep experimenting with it and then try taking a lactase pill before you eat some dairy and see if that helps. Dorian - Gah, you poor thing! I'm sending you all my good vibes in hopes that you can kick this nasty bug. I'm a big fan of square/emerald/princess cut diamonds as well. My husband actually designed my ring all on his own with ZERO input from me (I didn't even know he was going to propose) and he did SUCH a good job. I'm in love with my ring... totally. Like, given a choice of all the rings in the world I would have picked this one. He went with a princess cut center diamond surrounded by a ring of smaller diamonds, a split shank with diamonds along the splits... all very pretty, blah blah blah, but the kicker is that he had them also add black diamonds in the spaces between the splits. Amazing. Anyway, it just shows how well he knows me and how much he loves me to have put that much thought and effort into it. I'm sure you'll be totally thrilled with whatever your BF picks out as well! You'd better share pictures when you get it!! Olehcat - I hope the timing works out with the snow storm for you! I think we're supposed to get some freezing rain/sleet bullcrap tonight or tomorrow. Blech. We had a gorgeous snowfall on Saturday and that I don't mind at all...but the crap that freezes on the roads and effs things up can go away! Are you feeling any better today? Less funky? :) At least you had a great run! haha, yeah, I can understand the whole anonymity of the forums and how nice it feels. Obviously I share a lot here, and I don't know how I would feel if people saw it, but I also don't hide it and use photos of myself in my profile. I guess I'm just not under the impression that anyone I know will actually stumble upon 3FC. :) Bayzee - I hope you're feeling better today. I know how it is to be too busy to take time off (well, not day to day but when I'm deployed/TDY there is no option... you have to push through it all) but I hope that if you don't start feeling better you do take a day to fully rest up! No use in dragging it out into an even longer healing process because you arent' resting. LOL, dang your hubby and his tape removing! I don't have a mark on the floor, and mine is actually perfectly level, but I do still have a specific tile that I place my scale on each morning. Just a weird habit I suppose! Krampus - Haha you're going to have to explain to me how the fat man got a hold of your burger in the first place! Did the server just bring it to the wrong person and he didn't mind? :) What did you end up having for dinner with the roommie's bro there? Chicken fingers and pizza? :D Well it's Thursday... almost Friday. Not a lot of news here; weight is up a bit which I expected, got my first workout of the day done (Back, bis and abs + 20 minutes on the Jacobs Ladder and 10 minutes on the standing bike). I have to go back this afternoon to knock out the other 30 minutes of cardio, so I think I'll do the stairs, maybe some elliptical? I've been running a lot lately and don't want to do any of that today so that I can 'save my legs' for tomorrow and do a slightly longer run. I'm STAAAAAARVING! ugh... gimme food! I had a huge calorie burn yesterday and was laying in bed in the wee hours trying to fall back asleep and I couldn't because I was so hungry. Normally I would get up and have a piece of string cheese or something but I can't do that now. Now I'm staring at the clock willing it to move faster. It's not head-hunger... this is full on stomach-growling body hunger and I'm going to DESTROY my lunch in about 20 minutes. I emailed my weekly updates to my coach this morning and kicked off my 6th week. This time next week I'll be halfway done! I made sure to ask him about rest days, refeeds/treat meals and all those other little things. Hopefully he addresses some of them, but I also have another phone appointment with him on Monday so I will see what else he has to say then. |
Hi Feathers,
I feel BLOATED today and was up 0.6 on the scale, putting me at 124.4 - highest in a while - I think yesterday was a salty day overall. For dinner I had some chicken tortilla soup my BF made, and it was probably pretty salty + there were a lot of beans in it. I didn't eat them all but I definitely felt bloated and farty a good portion of yesterday afternoon/night. My roommate's brother came over and we sat around playing video games all night which I enjoyed. The dinner issue was solved in that my roommate told him to make his own g.d. dinner since all he eats is junk food and she is generally a healthy eater. He kicked my @ss in Super Mario Bros 3 Battle Mode but we are kind of evenly matched in Street Fighter 2 and TMNT Tournament Fighters (which is kind of the same thing as Street Fighter 2) so that was a good time. Felt bad for my roommate - fighting games are not her strong point. I went to the gym this morning after a 2/5 star. Pooping too soon before a workout tends to equal really tired workouts, but I did all right today - now that my BF is sick (ughh) our plans for the evening are off so I might go again. JossFit It's a bar where they put your food on a counter and you go get it. I guess he just COULDN'T WAIT for his own burger or something heh. Hope you had a nice big lunch waiting for you - being hungry sucks! Dianne Don't be silly, showing any restraint AT ALL at a buffet is much more than most people can say :P 2K is a perfectly respectable calorie count for an active person with a normal thyroid and blahblahblahblah. I don't think about food too much because before lunch it's "not feeding time" and after lunch I'm stuffed...except for days when I am still hungry after a huge lunch of course. I guess I lift heavy by my own standards, I tend to only do 3-4 exercises on lifting days (3-4 days/week) and I try to make it so that I can't perform more than 8 reps of any lift without failing. Alexis I hope you aren't too big a dairy fan if that's the culprit. It would be great if this means you figured out the cause of all the gas and you can incorporate more variety back into your diet! Dorian5 Uuuggghhh feel better girl! Engagement photos are a thing up here too - people always do the campiest poses and look ridiculous. This is on some photographer's site in southern Cali - I think it's a nationwide epidemic! http://www.gavinphotography.com/blog...s/img_8702.JPG (If I ever get engagement photos it is going to involve a buffet, mark my words) olehcat Nicely done on the great run and the "accidental" strength gain! I love doing things and thinking "hey this would be HARD WORK if I tried this X years ago!" Sorry your writing group got canceled - my plans fell through too - tonight might be a double gym then music night for me. Bayzee Stop being sick! like everyone else said hope you start feeling better/take a rest day if you don't. Seems this winter is worse than usual in terms of people getting ill. Why did he move the tape?! EDIT: My roommate packed me a lunch!!! It's about half the size I typically eat and I'll still be hungry after I finish it but isn't that sweet??? https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...26551455_n.jpg |
Krampus - Ahhh, so the fat man PURPOSELY snagged your burger! Well that's just rude! LOL I am getting more patient and a lot more forgiving as I get older, but when I was like 18-22ish I was B*TCH on wheels, let me tell ya. I would have made an absolute scene in front of everyone and let it totally ruin my night. Funny how much I have mellowed out. Now I'd do the same as you; say WTF?! get a new burger and laugh about it. :)
I haven't played any video games in the longest time, except Angry Birds on my tablet. :D I used to get down with some Street Fighter and I still love old school games like TMNT, Super Mario Bros, and Guerilla War. I need to find someone with an old school NES! I DID have a nice big lunch, and it was delish (another chicken and sweet potato salad with balsamic vinegar) but I've just gotten back from completing my second cardio workout for the day and I'm friggin starving again. I hope that it's not going to be like this from here on out, because this is some BULL! hahaha Lets hope you're able to get back to the gym as well! I'm glad to see your workout was a little better today but I'm still crossing my fingers that you'll get your energy and mojo back soon! ------------------------------------ This is totally nerdy but I wanted to share it... my hubby randomly put this on my Facebook page last night; http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:A...9kbYHHHnG5xWiQ How cute is that? I'm going to finish up some crap here at the office, run some errands and then get home to stuff dinner in my face; tilapia with zuchinni, red bell pepper and topped off with some avocado slices. Om nom nom nom... |
Dianne ~ Well done for showing restraint at the buffet! I've found that certain forms of dairy make me gain, too, but others are usually fine... (ha- then again, in the past most of the dairy in my diet has been pints of ice cream... bleh) Can't hurt to stay away for awhile...
Joss ~ That otter pic is TOO CUTE (and so appropriate for where you guys are now, yes?) Sweet hubby. Well done. ;-) I did not know that the body produces less lactase if you eat less dairy, but it makes sense. My digestive enzyme does have lactase in it, but only 5 mgs (some supplements have 125mgs +) I'm going to just try to stay away from it for awhile. It's just breaking the mental pattern, I think. Krampus ~ Despite the fat man stealing your burger, a bar where you pick up your own food sounds pretty darn fun. Pretty darn close to a buffet, which is, of course, how they serve food in heaven. lol about your engagement photos including a buffet. "Buffet of looooove", maybe. ;-) |
krampus : What, wait, some fat man ate your burger? but... how did it happened!? He took it from in front of you? The man REALLY did want a burger :P - Okay, I red your answer to Joss about it. Bwahaha. Don't know why but it happens to me all the time I go to Starbucks.
I am so bad at Street Fighter but I looove when it comes to Super Mario Bross 3. Like ''my boyfriend thinks I'm a freack because how well I know the game'' issue. Sounds like you had a fun night! Bayzee : Ah jeez, sorry to hear you are still feeling like crap. The cough, fever, sore throat really does sound like the thing my boyfriend is coming around with right now. Sounds like NO FUN. OH GOD, removing the scale tape?? but whyyyyy! Scale tapes are so important when leaving in uneven floor places! Dianne : I have so much trouble getting rid of the tummy too. Sometimes I'm starting to think I might actually never really lose it, it seems like whatever I do, it stiiiiill hangs there. Bummer :/ olehcat : LOL I love how all super secret / bad *ss it gets with your hidden microwave ;) But good job on lifting the thing and being all ''oh that's easy'' about it! :) Dorian : Awww, god, everyone is sick right now! :( Hope you'll feel better really soon... And oh god, you are such a good girlfriend, you're even watching the games with your boyfriend on tv? Do you watch them all? I always seem to lose interest somewhere in second period and regain it if they are winning in the third/''I'm outta here'' if the are losing bwahaha Alexis : It might be the dairy, or the combination of dairy + beans (beans sometimes trigger intense bowel movements to some people heeh). Anyways, I'm glad for you you might have pinpoint something! :) and AWWWW DATES. I love them so much. Why are they so full of calories :( Joss : Oh, I saw the otters thing somewhere online and I almost teared up. This is so cuuuute! I love otters. I was working in a zoo when I was youngers and we had 2 of them, they were my favorites animals, with the racoons :) Your dinner sounds nice! You seem to be in a much better mood about the program today, despite fighting the hunger monster. Good for you! :) *** Hi ladies! I was at 140.0 this morning, so got back a bit from the ramdom yesterday's gain. Yay! I had a super awesome workout today ; I had a nice 5k run, did some arm and shoulders weights (my glutes are SO SORE from tuesday) and than pushed it real bad on the bike, it felt greeeat. I finished by doing 80 crunches on an inclined bench. I tried a new Tuna thingy for lunch, it has a Satay Spicy Peanut flavored. It tasted sooo good! On the bad side, I realized after it had a lot of sodium in it... At least the rest of the lunch was low fat low sodium crackers, cucumbers and a bit of greek yogurt. The boyfriend got sick and is working from home.. I soooo don't want to catch his bugs, I'm stuffing myself with Vit C supplements. I don't know if it is because he is sick, but he ENJOYED BROCCOLI last night. He was as surprised as I was. Great couple moment. Have a nice day feathers! :) |
Good evening! I did SO WELL all day until the evening. Then I overdid it. I was absolutely starving when I got home and I dug into this enchilada mix thing that I had made, not terrible since I made it myself and so was able to limit some of the higher calorie things, like tortillas (I didn't use any) and the cheese. Still, I'm sure I ate too many calories since I feel gross right now. TheN I ended up having a cookie (unplanned). Ugh, it's the snow! Makes me want to stuff my face.
@Dorian - wow, sorry you're still feeling so sick!!!! :( That just sounds nasty! LOL on the 2.5 servings on the soda! :D So true. @Alex - haha, yes, the microwave "rule" is one of many clownish things that happen at our school that make no sense! And by the way dairy rips me apart. If I have a LOT of cheese or anything milk-like, like ice-cream (I haven't eaten ice-cream in years), I will be in major stomach pain or bloating. Yogurt doesn't seem to bother me at all, but then I've never had more than a serving at a time. @Dianne -- where are you that you've never seen snow?? I used to live in Florida. I did not miss the snow when I was there (for about 5 years). @Jossfit - wow, Colorado! I've heard great things about it, as far as people really being into fitness, lots of outdoor activities, lovely scenery, etc. I'm definitely feeling better today in general, am ready to do some major planning for my future and get a kickass body while I'm at it. I'm tired of being in a weight loss (or lack thereof) funk, too, and I know it's all interrelated...Time to take control for real. *nods* You are doing SO GREAT on yours. I seriously admire the crap out of you for reaching the nearly halfway point without giving in or cheating or doing anything other than sticking to the program! @krampus - Hee! LOVE that pic! It's so artistic! :) My poops, by the way, have been 4/5 in general. I have no idea why, but I'm like clockwork first thing in the morning! Sometimes it's even soon enough that I get a weigh-in right after a poop! Those are always awesome. I think I always weigh about .4 of a pound less. :D And very sweet of your roommate to pack you lunch! @Turbo -- hehehe, I live for breaking rules, lol. And your workout sounds absolutely awesome. I hope you don't get sick! |
Check-in time! Sorry I haven't posted regularly--I've been very busy. My Mom was in town for a full three days and we got to hang out, go out to eat and shop together. Not going to lie, I overate for three days straight! Saw a jump up on the scale but I'm back down to 110 today. Nothing much else to report. Doing the same stuff: lifting, spin biking. :) Hope everyone else has been doing well...
|
Turbo ~ Ace workout, girl but boooo for bf being sick. Away sickie germs, Away!!! Eh, they are pretty high in calories (about 60 cals per date) but I feel like it's worth it. My co-worker keeps 'em in the freezer and compares them to frozen snickers bars. They keep my sweets cravings at bay and don't seem to bring on any cravings themselves. Win.
Olehcat ~ Something about being snowbound makes me want to go into hibernate food mode, too! Do you have any workout equipment at home? Can you maybe turn the snow time into strength training time? (easier said than done, I know...) aiden ~ Glad you had some hang out time with your mom. Sounds like you're doing well in food/weight world, too. ~~~~ Feeling pretty good and symptom free today. Also had a bit of wheat yesterday (honey wheat pretzels... nom nom nom) and was fine, so I think that's either a "safe" food or lower down on the symptom list. Looking back over my food diary from the past few months, even though I don't normally eat a lot of it, I see little doses of diary here and there (pat of butter, bit of cheese...). So if even a little bit of dairy can cause symptoms, I can see how this might be the problem. Victory for last night: Got home and went for a run straight after work. It was really more of a walk than a run (30 mins), but it's been a long time, so that's a definite WIN for me. Reading about all of YOUR workouts has inspired me, too. Haven't seen any real losses on the scale, but haven't really been doing that much to warrant a loss. Just working on moderating my emotions and NOT using food as a crutch. I had a moment last night when I was just "done" eating. Did not want anything else. I was feeling frustrated, sad, a bit concerned about other things in life, but had absolutely no desire to eat anything else and was just eager to get to my journal and hash it all out. In that way, I'm doing HEAPS better than in the past. I'm still up a bit from where I want to be, but I've learned that for me, going on a "diet" is like trying to put out the fire by pouring on gasoline. Note to self: now entering PMS territory. Hunger is NOT as large as it appears. |
olehcat : Snowy weather definitively a huge trigger for food... I always crave whatever comfort food there is around. At least it was only a cookie :) Stay strong!
Aidanqm : It sounds like you had a great time with your mother :) Great for you being back at 110! Alexis : Oh I get you, dates reallyyyy do worth it. My mom had this killing zucch/high fiber/raisins recipes but now when I do it I put chopped dates in it. It gives this awesome sugary twist without all the calories that adding chocolat chips would throw in the mixt. .... aaaaaand now I want dates so bad bwahaha. I have half a zucch in the fridge, might get some this weekend and bake the muffins! ;) Great job on the workout!! It is so awesome that we were able to recognize the ''okay I'm done eating moment''. It really shows you get the sign your body is sending you and this is GREAT. Good luck fighting the PMS! *** I am super excited, I WI at 139.0 this morning, being my lowest weight since my major gain over Christmas!! I was so happy to see that results, I was not expecting much, I only had rabbit pooping yesterday (but I did drank tons of water though). Anyways, it get me a 2.2 lbs pounds compared to last friday, and -4.0 pounds since I started to WI daily 2 weeks ago. OH YEAH Just had an awesome lunch of a veggies zucch onion and grated carrots quesedillas with a bit of grated cheese and salsa with a green salad on the side. I found in the kitchen this morning a package of fat free butterscoth pudding ; god, this thing is only 70 calories per serving. Had a serving after my lunch and it is stupid, but having the little sweet treat made it feels like such a complete meal, I'm super full and satisfied. My workout today will consist on shoveling our 25'x25', of the heavy snow covering it. My shoulders are a bit sore from my workout of yesterday, so it will probably be a lot of fun :P I might add a bit of abs stuff when I'll get in. I'm trying to use stuff that we had in the freezer for a while and last night we found this bunch of hot dogs sausages we still had from a BBQ we hosted at the end of last summer. The boyfriend was thrilled and pushed to have hot dogs tonight for dinner (...). I gave up because I had nothing better to suggest for them. I might have one and had a salad or veggies on the side... Have a good day ladies! |
Uggghhh, I'm struggling today ladies. Big time. I don't know how well this day is going to end up for me.
Turbo - Congratulations!! I am so looking forward to the day when I too can say that the holiday pounds are finally gone. Man, It's nearing the end of February and I still have like 8 pounds to go before I can say that... gross. Is your BF feeling any better today? Alex - Great job knocking out that run! I find that with my schedule as it is (workout-wise) and having to split my cardio into two 30-minute sessions I sit around all day DREADING the second session, but I don't know why! It's not particularly challenging and I always am so glad that I did it and feel great afterward. I'm doing it right now though! "Whaa, I don't wanna..." but I have to do like you did, suck it up, and just go straight from the office to the gym and let it be done with. I'm glad to see that the wheat might not be a culprit. Sorry that things in your life have you feeling upset and are messing with your appetite. I suppose a lack of an appetite is better than the opposite, but its still not ideal is it? Aidan - Thats great that you had a nice visit with your mom, enjoyed some delicious food and your "jump" was still only up to 110! Nice! Olehcat - Yeah, I love Colorado so much... 5 more months! It's coming up quickly!! I appreciate the support and even though it feels strange to say so, the admiration as well. I wish I could say its easy but today is SO HARD. I feel like a fraud or something and I haven't even strayed from my program. Just WANTING to do it and 'start again' tomorrow makes me feel incredibly guilty. What kind of fitness professional can I be if I can't even get through contest prep without breaking under 6 weeks?! I know it's so melodramatic but it scares me. What if I'm not cut out for this? What if I'm making a mistake trying to go into fitness full time? GAAAA Anyway, sorry... Needless to say I can definitely understand wanting to stuff one's face. I'm sorry you feel bloaty and gross today, but maybe a run will make you feel better? Are you planning on doing that today or is the weather making it impossible? {{Krampus, Dorian, Dianne, Kakers, Bayzee and anyone else who might be out there today... I hope you're having a great Friday!}} |
:dizzy: Hi Feathers! It's Friiiiiiiiiiiday. I weighed in down 0.4 from yesterday at 124.0 - the 5/5 star poops are over it seems and I'm back to rabbit pellets and pushing like I'm giving birth even though my food is comparable/the same.
I found out February 22 is "Cat Day" in Japan - that is fitting because if he were still alive, my beloved family cat Cinnamon would be 21 years old today! Awwwww. Tried spin class for the first time last night! I was kind of hungry when I went so it kicked my a$$. And speaking of posteriors, the seat was so uncomfortable - today I notice some definite soreness there and a little in my legs. I even noticed it hurting my junk, which is usually a non issue because it's relatively compactly packaged. Maybe I need to bring a donut cushion or riding shorts next time (or just not sit - extra workout!). After spin I had a couple girlfriends over for what ended up being an epic potluck. I used the rest of my veggies to make a big arugula salad, my roommate made dumplings and tempeh in peanut sauce, one friend brought homemade hummus/pita crackers and lentils with apple and walnut, and another brought a half gallon of ice cream :p The friend who brought ice cream is off alcohol until June so we all drank water and tea; it was a lovely evening. My BF is sick (Bayzee and Dorian and Mr. Turbo must have given it to him when I wasn't looking) and I think I am catching it.....noooooooooooooooooo! Tonight BF is hauling his sniffles to a mountain in VT to ski with his friends from NYC, and I along with the rest of our crew am going to see a bluegrass/banjo/folk type band play at a bar in Albany. Should be a fun night out and I have no reason to be up early tomorrow! I'm getting my hair cut Sunday. I like it now - I might just get a bang trim and some layers. Anyone have any great ideas? This is it now. Maybe something like this would work: http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/c...h-dizon019.jpg JossFit Here is a HUG! and a whole slew of encouraging animal pictures: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3JFUXfgvQy...ith-a-kiss.jpg http://www.icebergtees.com/wp-conten...g-in-there.jpg http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ZrxT4-q5Hr...-can-do-it.jpg What's wrong today? Just hungry and food-tired? Have you seen what Ke$ha and Beyonce look like on the beach when they're "off" from award show or live performances? No one can be "ON" 100% of the time and I'm sure your coach's other clients ALL struggled to stay on plan during their program time. Regardless - I hope you don't stray too far and feel better soon! TurboMammoth Oh NOOOOO our men are sick! I took Airborne (1000 mg Vitamin C supplement) right before bed and am going to try and use some of "grandpa's cough medicine" (aka WHISKEY or hard liquor) to clear out my congestion tonight...ehehehehe. Nice work on those awesome workouts! I need to use you as an example and hit it hard tonight. Alex Hooray for not being allergic to wheat and for running - getting back into it is very humbling and physically exhausting but it comes back to you! I am glad you have been feeling in control of your food and emotions lately. Aidangm People visiting always, always = eating like five times more than normal. Seems you're doing well in that regard though - not binging and the like - awesome! olehcat That doesn't sound so bad - eating a hearty meal when you're hungry - but I understand that "maaaan I don't need to eat THAT much" feeling very well. We're supposed to get snow this weekend - ughhh. You're lucky in your 4/5 star poops! |
Joss : Did you manage to through the rest of the day yesterday? :S :( Hope you are doing okay. Maybe having a little relaxing time to yourself this weekend will do you good :)
Krampus : Your potluck with friends sounds like a lovely evening :) But serioulsy everyone is sick since 2 weeks or what!? I love the haircut! I love when there is really long AND short layers at the same time. And I am really wondering why we don't have Cat Day in America. Ours beloved cats deserve it! *** Hi ladies. Still holding at 139.0 today, yay. I went for a run with the boyfriend this morning, our first couple run in forever. It showed more than ever how much I lost cardio during my ''not running for 7-8 weeks because I'm hurt'' GOD. He was always in front of me and I felt lame to slow him down. (''Oh, do you want me to slow down?'' '' Oh, why do you think that? oh YEAH I'm a 2' panting behind you JESUS YES SLOW DOWN''). I did 50 crunches and 8 push ups when I got home and now I am having fun doing NOTHING at home. It is snowing outside so it's like the perfect weather for that. We are having a seashells pizza tonight with garlic and bleu cheese, I am so excited. I've bought some pop corn to pop (like not in the bag, home made popping!). I've also found this thing at the grocery, it is called a végé-pâté, which is like a pâté/liver pâté, but vegetarian, it's local, bio and has this awesome nut taste, it was amazing. The boyfriend HATEs végé-pâté which makes it even more awesome because he won't eat it and just finish the thing off. YAY. Have a great weekend feathers! |
Haven't had time to read here, but want to say good morning so I stay in the habit of checking in here. :coffee2:
I've been doing good with getting back on track. I finally had that "click" into gear I'd been looking for. Oddly it came from bribing myself with frozen yogurt. I bought a pint I wanted to try but thought was too expensive, and reasoned if I log everything, stay in my range, and avoid other cheap treats for a little over a week then I could have it. It worked really well so I might try it again this shopping trip. krampus I think that hair cut would look adorable on you! Although you're pretty adorable already. ;) I tried cutting my own hair a couple weeks ago. It turned out... interesting. |
Happy Sunday Feathers! I hope everyone had a good weekend.
I still have this terrible cough, runny nose and sore throat. I finished the anitbiotics a couple of days ago, so I'm guessing it's a virus with the bacterial infection :( Things are crazy busy right now...I feel very overwhelmed. I hope it settles soon. My weight is all over the map. I'm staying on plan and working out, but I certainly think it's stress induced. I'm trying not to weigh-in on the weekends to avoid adding more stress and pressure to myself to do well. Take care and have a great week :) |
Good morning, feathers!
So here's my situation. My weight went UP, and I htink it's sodium-based, but it could also be because I was really pretty depressed this past week and while I showed restraint on some days, I didn't on others, and I drank WAY more wine than I planned or should have. So yeah. New start, new me. I went back in a diet journal I have on another site that I've had since 2010, mostly boring and full of whining, but I use it to look back at what I was doing during periods of success. And just this last year, before I got sick in December and before the holidays kicked in, I got down to 141, which was SO CLOSE to back where I was in December of 2011 where I was hovering between 136-139. And so I read back at what I was doing then: so at breakfast I would have eggs and veggies in olive oil, at lunch I'd have a giant salad with a hardboiled egg, a bit of cheese, half a chicken breast, 1/4 avocado and tons of veggies and a fruit, at dinner I'd have stirfry (without the rice) - just veggies and protein of some kind and I would make it really spicy. Or I might have turkey chili. For snacks I'd have almonds. No wine. I did this Monday through Thursday. On Friday I mostly stayed the same, but at dinner I might have something more treaty, like pizza. I would usually have some wine. Then on the weekend, I would pretty much eat what I wanted, but not over the top. For example, I'd mostly make healthy choices, especially if I was alone, but if I wanted to have a doughnut on Sunday morning, I would. So I think I am doing that. That's something I can really do for life, it was not at all a strain, and I have no idea why I went "off" that before, except that the holidays came, I was too sick to exercise, and I just went off the tracks and then forgot to get back on. So today I did amazing at my workout at least. I ran 5 miles and then did a strength workout afterwards, all before 9 a.m.! Today my challenge is: I am bringing my dad some dinner (my mom is out of town). He often likes food from this particular barbecue place, as do I. I will have it, I think, but just have a salad for lunch. I think I've already had about 500 calories today. I am going to estimate that meal I get at the barbecue place at about 800-900 so if I have a salad for a few hundred, that should be okay for me. This week's challenge. I'm going to wean myself off of wine, mostly. I think I'm going to go for 4 days off (Monday through Thursday), 3 days I can have it. Then once I establish that as a firm habit, I'm going to take another day away. Then another. Once a week is a reasonable treat. @TheBunneh - good idea on the expensive treat idea! @Turbo - haha, that's why I actually don't like running with other people! I always feel that I will either slow them down or I will feel impatient that I can't go at my own pace. Also I don't really like talking and running at the same time. I like to space out or listen to music. @Krampus - Cat day! What a great idea! My kitties approve! @jossfit - hope your'e doing well today! Oh, man, though I hope you are feeling more confident. You are doing so great. Nobody is absolutely perfect all the time. Even the best fitness people give into temptations sometimes and you haven't even done that yet. So you're doing great in my book! Weather IS a factor right now, although it hasn't been for most of the winter. We got five inches or so of snow during that storm last week, although some of it has melted because we had a few days above freezing. But today there is still ice and snow on most of the sidewalks AND it's very cold. So I definitely ran in the gym. Treadmills are my best friend when I can't run outside! I don't know what I'll do during the week. I sort of depend on having at least one outside running day on at least one of my class days since I don't like to go to the gym so late in the day and I sort of like that outside running in the dark and quiet. @Alex - yeah, I do want to eat everything when it snows. Have no idea why! I guess I want to feel cozy. Yeah, I do have some workout equipment at home, so I could survive being snowbound, hehe. At least we didn't get it as bad as some other places. The streets are all clear and it's easy to get around. And go you on the run! :) @Bayzee - sorry you're still sick! :( |
Olehcat: Were you consistently losing on that plan you did a while back? For me, being so close to goal, if I don't tow the line, then my body doesn't respond. I can't do what I want on the weekends without paying for it with 2 or 3 lbs. I would suggest sticking with your Mon-Thurs plan until you are where you want to be & then add in some treats in moderation. You'll get back down more quickly & you'll feel good about it. IMO, of course ;)
Just checking in during a blizzard :P Hoping for a whoosh tomorrow because my body is all over the place. Since my miscarriage in August, my body is HUGELY affected by all the hormonal changes. It never used to show on the scale - not even TOM - but even ovulation shows now. Go figure! Sticking to it though. Snowed in with only healthy stuff so I can't stray. And I think I'll crochet today :) Perfect activity for a blizzardy day! http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j3...psc2a64d65.jpg View from my back porch :) |
TheBunneh : In my opinion, I think it is better to make place for a treat you reallyyy want in the calories budget instead and just truly enjoy it instead of just pushing away all kind of treats (... and then having a major binge!) :) What it this amazing frozen yogurt brand?
Bayzee : Ahh I really hope you'll get better soon! :( The flu/bugs going around this year are HARD. Olehcat : Going back to something that you know worked before might worth a try! 5 miles, great run!!! LOL, I used to love running with someone, but yesterday was hard. Usually the boyfriend is better at sticking with a slower pace better than that, but he started to run a bit by himself on a threadmill while I was on a injury break, so he is now clearly in a better running shape than I am ... and he really just like going FAST (is that a guy thing!?) lol Maddie : Crochet is definitely a cool thing to do when you are snowed in :) What are you making? *** Stiiiiiiiiiiiill 139 this morning, despite overeating a bit last night. I tried the home made popping popcorn (and I was just amazed how well it worked), I had a few cups of it.. but with just a little butter and a really small amount of olive oil. I just had the leftover of the bleu cheese pizza of yesterday with the boyfriend, not wanting it to go to waste... but I really just wanted a salad or something in reality :/ I am going to my cousin's tonight for a Oscar night and I am eating there, I would have like to make room for extra calories just in case, not knowing what we are going to eat... Anyways, it is not such a big deal, just need to control the portion I guess. My workout for the day consisted of shoveling AGAIN our deck (with the boyfriend this time, so much faster!), going for an hour of snowshoeing, 50 crunches and 10 pushups. The snow that fell yesterday was really wet and sticky, it was holding on to the trees. It was sooo pretty! Here's a picture : http://img850.imageshack.us/img850/1429/img1171h.jpg Have a good day ladies! :) |
Turbo: I'm making this for my daughter!! I can't stand how cute it is!!

Good morning ladies.
Sorry, I haven't checked in for a few days. Its been a bad few days. Caught my boyfriend in bed with another girl the morning of a friend's wedding. Then of course the wedding dance song the couple danced to was my boyfriend (now ex) and my song. It was horrible. And Ive been binging ever since, to say the least. And seeing all of your snow pics make me sad :( I have never seen snow and he booked a trip for us for my birthday next month to go see it in CO. Not happening anymore obviously. I just feel so gross. Bloated, KNOW ive gained at least a good 4 pounds of fat. Disappointed that I reverted to food and alcohol because of this break up. Now I probably feel worse than I would have. Self soothing in destructive ways never works in the long run. @Turbomammoth - Actually, I was saying my stomach is never my problem area. Ive never had fat there. But now that I continue to binge, fat is going there. So that scares me :( Do you have a cheat day? I notice you treat yourself every now and then. Do you make your own lunches? How many calories do you try to stay at? @olehcat - I love your plan you were doing back in December. That sounds like a plan I could stick to! How many calories were you allowing for the days mon- thurs? Did you still try to stay in a certain calorie range over the weekend when you were "allowing whatever you want"? Do you drink on the weekends? @Jossfit - So sorry youre struggling :( How much longer of this diet plan do you have to be on? @Alexistrophic - Great job on your run/walk. After all Ive been eating that sounds amazing. Good luck entering PMS :) @Krampus - NOOOO Youre getting the cold everyone has!! I just got over mine for the THIRD time! Sucks!! I tried spinning once. I hated it. Left after like 20 min. Oh goodness, how embarrassing :o But hey must of done something, youre down .4 pounds! Oh I miss seeing the scale go down. I think my scale has dust on it now. I guess its a good thing I left it over my now exboyfriend's house. No need to really put me in a tail spin of anxiety seeing how much Ive gained :( I think a bang like the girls in the pic would look awesome on you!! @thebunn - that is so funny the way you bribed yourself. I need that "click" in to gear bad. Ive been trying ever since August of last year! I just cant seem to get into it. I never last more than a few days MAYBE a week :/ @bayzee - Feel better!! @MaddieBPhoto - LOVE that !! The little girl in the pic is adorable! |
Diane..omg! I can't believe you caught him! I feel so badly for you, but I'm also so happy that you found out now that he is cheat, selfish and has zero respect for you!
Listen, it's ok to turn to food and alcohol for a bit...but then turn to gym! Take all of your anger out there, and watch your body transform! The best revenge is to ignore his pleas to come back to him (and he will ask many times) and move on. It won't be easy, but no trust=no relationship! |
Check-in: Had an awesome, fun week last week. Celebrated one of my best friend's birthday with him and his wife on Wednesday night--we went out to tea at our favorite tea house. On Friday, had a girl's night out with my bestie. We went to zumba, then to dinner at a cajun/creole restaurant, then to the movie "Side Effects."
Nothing new to report on the fitness side of things. 110.2 lbs this morning, been doing full body lifting and spin as usual. :) Cooked up over 3lbs of chicken yesterday and a bunch of broccoli as well. Been eating pumpkin pie spiced mashed sweet potato with almonds in the morning. Yum. The weather is finally getting warmer. It was 15F when I walked to work this morning but it's supposed to get up to 38F and sunny today! I cannot wait to run and bike outside again. Spring can't get here any sooner. |
Well, my weight keeps going up. I think I'm the only person in the history of the world that gains weight after running 5 miles, haha. I have good humor about it because now I'm on plan and I think that "click" has finally happened. This is it, folks, I'm going to do this. I can't believe my weight was up to like 149 this morning, wut??? Yeah, I managed to gain about 5 pounds in a week. Granted, I know some of it is sodium. I've been eating a LOT of sodium-ish stuff in the last few days. Not huge amounts of things, but yeah. And drinking way too much wine. I'm going to take this 1 day at a time. At the end of each day if i"ve stayed on plan, I am going to feel triumphant. I CAN do this. I've done it before, it's just that I've been so weak willed the last few years.
Today's plan - my eggs and veggies for breakfast, my big salad with protein in it for lunch plus an orange for dessert, for snack almonds, for dinner my spicy shrimp stir fry that I already made last night that should last about 3 days. This will be challenging because I have class today and tomorrow and my meal schedule is off and getting running in this week will be challenging due to weather and obligations! @Dianne - how awful!!! :( Wow, I can understand why you went off track. What a horrible thing to discover. *hugs* @MaddieBPhoto - Well, originally I give myself a little leeway on weekends because I tend to have more dinners I'm invited to (hard to stay on track in a strict way when you're eating at someone else's house, ugh, still don't know how to navigate that). Also if I don't give myself some leeway, I'm afraid I will give up in frustration the first time the scale goes up when I'm being "perfect" (and it will) and go on a big binge or something. It's like I have to give myself something to look forward to in the short term to stay on track. But I admit there is much room for improvement. I need to stop listening to my inner toddler so much. That's how I got to where I am (not happy) so I definitely DO need to change things up. I've had a rough year, and I'm hoping that the click has finally happened to change my life and body. Anyway, when I was doing this in December the trend was mostly going down, but then things got "off" the minute I got sick and then there were more dinners and social events to navigate because of the holidays and I just gave up. Whew, that was a lot of information, sorry! ;) That is an adorable thing you're making for your daughter! I knit, but I'm not very good at it and have no time right now. @Turbo - wow, your snow is so pretty! It's so ugly where I am, half melted and then iced over and muddy because it's half melted... Good morning, all! |
@olehcat; You're probably retaining water... I saw a 1 lb jump in the scale after a tough full body lift on Saturday. Back down to normal today. Sometimes heard exercise can cause the body to retain a lot of water after you re-hydrate. I'm not sure why, I've just learned this from experience. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Just stick to the same plan for 3-4 months and you will lose weight. :) Also, that spicy shrimp stir fry sounds awesome! I wish I could cook, haha.

Friggin Monday... blah.
Sorry for being so absent over the weekend, but I was pretty busy and also just didn't feel like thinking about my diet/workouts more than I had to. This program has taken over my life and I have to separate myself from it a bit if I'm going to avoid going crazy. I still have a few more days to get through before I'm even at the halfway point. Aidan - Glad you had a fun weekend! I went to a baby shower yesterday and actually DIDN'T hate it for once. The woman we were having it for is one of my favorite people ever and so many of my girlfriends were there it was a lot of fun. Hanging out with the girls is definitely nice. :) Olehcat - I'm wishing you luck sticking to your plan! I too am taking things one day at a time right now. It's definitely hard but you CAN do it. If I can do my program, you can clean up your diet. I'm sorry that you got that shock this morning but maybe facing up to the numbers is what you need. As far as gaining weight after working out, it actually happens all the time. I stuck to my diet perfectly yesterday and did a long run and today I weighed 1.2 pounds more than I did yesterday. I know those fluctuations are frustrating as heck, but it's a NORMAL fluctuation and if you know you worked out and your calories were reasonable you know it's not a fat gain. Dianne - First, I know that nothing I can say will make what happened to you hurt any less, but just know that we're here to read and reply should you need to feel like venting ANYTHING. Second, actually catching your BF in the act like that had to be incredibly traumatic, and I don't think ANYONE would look down on you for comforting yourself with food and alcohol. I certainly would! Be gentle with yourself right now... you don't need any self-inflicted pain on top of the pain you're already in. It's easy to say "go workout and get super amazingly hot and show that jerk what he gave up!" but I know it's not that easy. You're going to go through a whole range of emotions and all you can do is your best and take them as they come. Working out, chatting with us or your girlfriends IRL, getting into a new hobby, treating yourself without food, etc. are all great ways to try and help yourself feel better, but sometimes they aren't as convenient as food and a drink! I get it! I went from about 120 pounds to 180 pounds after my ex and I divorced. It was sudden and even though it wasn't anything as shocking as what happened to you this weekend, it effected me more than I would have thought. I started binge eating, drinking excessively, and it just spiraled out of control. Like my program now, Olehcat's struggles getting back on track, and everyone else here just dealing with their own things; take it a day at a time. Oh, and I vote you still take that trip and enjoy it! Take a girlfriend and go play in the snow! As for your question, I am just a few days shy of the halfway point of this program; so 6 weeks and 3 days to go. Or, 39 days... one at a time. :D Maddie - Welcome into the chat! It moves pretty fast in here. :) What part of Colorado are you in? My husband lives in Colorado Springs and I am moving out there this summer... finally! We have family in Grand Junction, Boulder and Denver as well. Turbo - I LOOOOVE fresh homemade popcorn with the right mix of seasonings, but I never have it! I don't have a popcorn popper because I know I'd hardly ever use it and I don't know how to make it on the stove. I guess I could look it up, but of the bazillion things to eat it's not one of those things high on my list of priorities. :) Congrats on sticking at 139! Awesome! I love the picture of the show, especially sitting on the fence. It looks like a Bob Ross painting! haha Bayzee - Are you feeling better today? TheBunneh - Thats great that you found a strategy to help keep you on track! I say if it works, go with it! :) Krampus - I will use a spin bike for a few minutes at the gym, but spin classes aren't really my thing. On my own I stand the whole time, but during class you do what they tell you and I get the same thing too! It hurts my lady-junk, and I'm not really into group workouts anyway. How did your hair turn out? I bet it looks great! Are you feeling better or did you get full-blown sick? Thanks for all the encouraging pictures! LOL those were too cute! I have to admit, I have wanted to fall off plan so many times in the past few days (especially yesterday at the baby shower; fried chicken, mac n' cheese, mini pizza crostini (all homemade) and an array of chocolates, cakes, chips, dip, crudites, cheeses and fruits PLUS raspberry muddled mimosas) but I DIDN'T, and part of it is because I'd feel like a jackass coming in here and telling you all that I caved. There are a lot of reasons I don't go off plan though; Fear of disappointing my coach, my own guilty feelings, my fear of not getting back on the plan if I deviate, my fear of NOT making my goal after all this hard work, and yes... you ladies. I hope I didn't miss anyone, and I'm sorry for glossing over personals! I'm a bad Feather lately. Big Monday hugs to Alexistrophic, Kakers, Dorian and anyone else out there today! |
