Oh ok, I'm still really confused in general though as it seems to be different in different shops. A lot of stuff I've seen is that it's +4, I have a skirt that says UK10/US6 .. is that right? I don't understand plus sizes at all, and I always see people talking about juniors as well. No idea haha

krampus 07-16-2012 02:00 PM

sorry, I meant +2 sizes not +2 digits.

Plus sizes are the same as regular sizes, they're just bigger (and some shirts are sized 1X, 2X, 3X, 4X instead of XXXXL because who wants to wear that).

Juniors' sizes are cut differently to misses' and target high school age girls - I wear a 4 in adult sizes but a 5 or mostly 7 in juniors.

None of them are consistent anyway so it's a free for all really...

LeilaJey 07-16-2012 02:07 PM

I don't think we have so many sizes here.. or maybe I just haven't noticed! There's probably teen sections in shops but I'm not really sure. I thought they did it by age but that doesn't make much sense. I used to work in a clothes shop and I remember a woman ordering a t-shirt age 16years and it was just absolutely huge. Like I'd say a woman's size 18. Kids grow taller not necessarily out the way haha And yeah it's the same here with everything being so different. Vanity sizing makes things difficult to gauge progress. The trousers I got had measurements on them too.. it said 23/24 inch waist (I think).. which I'm pretty sure I don't have. They're in the wash now but I'll check when they're out. I would imagine that if they put the actual inches on it that it must be close enough but maybe not.

JossFit 07-16-2012 07:17 PM

Oh Monday, how I detest thee.

It actually wasn't a bad day... I left work a bit early for "wedding preparation" and went to get my gel French manicure and a pedicure. :) It took a long time, but my toe toes and fingernails look good. I'm not sure how much of my feet will be on display, but you KNOW the photographers are going to end up taking those super cliche photographs of us holding hands, our rings, my hands holding my bouquet... all that jazz. I can't have gnarly nails going on!

------------------------------------------------------

Krampus and Leila - Ugh, the headache of sizes! I don't even like shopping these days unless sizes are like XS, S, M, etc. The numbered sizes are just silly! I bought a pair of pants and a pair of shorts from one store at the same time, and the pants were a 4, while the shorts were a 0. 0?! WTF?! And they're loose! I never know what size I'm going to be these days, so shopping is a headache. Don't even get me started on Juniors odd sizing...

Leila - Thank you so much! :) I am NOT going to order the Jaffa Cakes because I will EAT THEM ALL... but maybe I will soon when I have someone to share them with (i.e. pawn them off on after I have had one or two...)
How are you feeling now? Any better? You seem to be beating yourself up a little bit the past couple of days Chica. I know that it doesn't help you feel better, but I assure you that nobody else thinks you look chubby or bloated right now, and that we are totally our own worst critics. Just keep up all the good stuff you're doing, and you'll feel right again in no time.

Krampus - I LOL'd so hard at your "Junky Rabbit turds" comment... :) You crack me up.
I LOVE the bridesmaid dress! Is it going to be in that same color? So flattering on everyone I'll bet. I know it sounds totally cliche, but you could definitely wear that dress on other occasions too. Heck I'm doing it with my shoes I bought for my wedding. It's bad enough I can only wear the dress once, so I'm getting some use out of these bad mammas;

http://www.handbagfairy.co.uk/blog/w...do-500x500.jpg

Turbo - When I was trying to find pictures of the Elephant Ears I think I stumbled on the Beaver tails... I'll bet they are just different names for something pretty similar. Delicious no matter what you call them. :)
LOL I hope you feel better after your salad, water, and attempt at a good poo... haha

Man, we talk about poop a lot here. Is that normal? LOL I wonder if being "feathers" makes us more sensitive to noticing those times when we feel bloated and stuffed up...

Dottie - Well hiya stranger! I actually got some vows down on paper, so aside from packing that was my last real "to do"... yay!
Congrats on sticking to it and getting down to under 132 pounds! A couple of sizes down, especially when it's a surprise like that is awesome! Well done on making smart choices at all those tricky times... I'm definitely taking a page out of your book over my honeymoon. The idea is to treat myself a bit, but not to the point I'm going to end up regretting it. Make smart choices, and indulge in a few small goodies that I can't get anywhere else. Wish me luck!

Alexis- Good luck on your first week... that's so exciting! It's nice you were able to get a new wardrobe out of your own closet. I recently did that myself. Who knew I had so many cute tank tops for summer? I guess now that I like my arms I can actually wear them! haha

crazygurl61 07-17-2012 12:21 AM

Hi everyone! I've been thinking of you all.

At 137.2 today after a period that lasted over 7 days!!! Hoping to see more drops.

Sorry I have been MIA...it's a free listing week on eBay and I was trying to get all caught up from various trips. I have 220 things up so far- finishing up tomorrow because it's the last day. Then I will be around more!!

Have a great on plan week everyone!!!

DottieMae 07-17-2012 09:35 AM

LeilaJey & krampus: Sizing is the bane of my existence. I wish we could have pants/skirts sized the way men do (waist & length). Although I did notice at Old Navy the other day that some of the men's shorts (was picking some up for my husband) were sized SML. I was like, what does that even mean?

jossfit - I love those shoes! They'd look adorable with lots of things! Mani/Pedi is definitely a must prior to getting married. There will be lots of pics of your hands for sure!

crazygurl61 - ugh, 7 days? You poor thing! I'm thinking you'll see a huge drop in a day or two after that. Good luck with all your eBay work!
-------------
I had a strange whoosh this AM. Not sure why but I'm not going to complain. I dropped 1.5lbs from yesterday putting me at 130.3. I didn't exercise intensely, I drank tons of water, etc so it's just kinda weird and unexplained - but at least it's in a direction I like! We'll see if it holds tomorrow.

Have a great day everyone!

krampus 07-17-2012 10:30 AM

127.4 this morning. It's not <125 but it's not 129 either. Going in the right direction!

Yesterday I had a good workout and was in a super mood all evening. I was really not hungry at all but figured it would be bad to eat only ~600 calories on a lifting day so I choked down some tofu, eggs and kimchi around 9:45. I'm hungry for real now, which is a good sign!

We're expecting record highs today, 95 F, it may just be too hot to anything other than pant like a dog in A/C this afternoon.

DottieMae Woooo, whoosh! That's super close to the 120s!

crazygurl61 220 items up?! That's a lot! 7 days of TOM is exhausting. Hope next month is less intense for you!

JossFit I talk about poop incessantly regardless of the company I keep, when I was 16 my parents told me I couldn't get my license if I still thought it was funny. That didn't take! Those shoes are killer - I suck at walking in heels but more power to you. Unfortunately the bridesmaid dress will be light purple which I can't stand...

TurboMammoth 07-17-2012 10:51 AM

JossFit : OMG OMG! Your shoes are awesome! You could totally rock them on a going out night with a pair of skinny jeans or something like that!! For the why are we, as featherweight, always talking about poop, I think because we don't have that much weight to lose anymore, we try to explain our sudden gain and lose with something we can actually track... But I do have to agree that we seems to enjoy some poop talking around here!! ;-) I try to talk about it with the boyfriend too, but he does not show much of interest.. LOL

crazygurl : nice having news from you! :)

DottieMae : Let's take the woosh even if you don't know where it comes from!! ;)

krampus : light purplue bridesmaids dress? sounds less more fun... the deep purple you showed us was so pretty

***

still 139,4 this morning, even if I ate really good yesterday (except for a bunch of coated chocolat almonds a guy in the lab gave me for taking careof his lab stuff over the weekend.. .oooops) I'm still pooping only rabbit poop, and I wasn't able to go for a run this morning because it was raining so so so much.

Plus I'm at the librabry and there a girl next to me who is eating something really stinky. eww.

We're going back to my dad's place (9 hours away drive) for 2 weeks next weekend, I'd like at least to get rid of the big bloathy feeling before the ''eating crap because we are on holidays-festival begins! ... I really want to control during vacations time though. It is just so hard with all the poutine and beers and going out and camping time ahead!

pixelllate 07-17-2012 11:00 AM

Jossfit- Do you have a color theme to ur wedding/bridesmaids (and what type of dresses are they wearing?) I love your shoes and you will look gorgeous!
Krampus - WOAH how'd yah do that drop? Big poo? My whole fam talks about poo - we're such a classic Chinese village family :D
LeilaJay - I usually look up clothing brands and google "how does so and so brand run?" Perhaps that will help?
Crazygurl61- I'm too lazy to look up articles, but long term big weight loss must have a crazy effect on hormones! Perhaps that is why your period is long.
Turbo - I too had an unremarkable poo. BAH!!! Also I'm thinking about buying some almonds and eating a few, but they are so hard to resist and so easy to overdo, I'm not sure.

So hey all - life has its ups and downs yah?
Went down half a lb - and ate a lot right after (not binging though). I seem to do that a lot lol.
Also, I decided last winter not to buy new clothes until I reached goal, so I've been wearing clothes from 40, sometimes 60 lbs ago. So now I have been doing a big wardrobe overhaul. For once I am wearing pants that I don't have to safety pin up (good!)! But I also spilled Fanta orange soda on my short (bad). Which I drank not too long after brushing my teeth cause I just didn't wanna resist. Bad flavor combo - when will I learn?! haha
So basically I'm gassy but with nice pants :)

LeilaJey 07-17-2012 03:22 PM

I mentioned yesterday that I was dizzy but I've been feeling like that all week, then decided I should check the leaflet of the tablets I've been taking this week (totally didn't connect the 2) because my vision was extra blurry today. Well that was a side effect so I've stopped taking them and the pharmacist told me to go back to my Doctor. Got an appointment for the morning. I got worried though because it's been getting worse everyday and you're supposed to stop immediately if it happens and because I'm stupid I didn't think about it ugh.. I got really upset to be honest.. I'm a photographer, I need my eyes.. hope my vision goes back to normal soon. Sorry for all the whining this week, probably mostly down to these stupid tablets. So I had a bit of a binge this evening. Oh well, moving on.. I didn't eat much yesterday so maybe that's something to do with it too.

Personals later xo

LeilaJey 07-17-2012 08:18 PM

Ok it's 1am and I have to get up early and go away for a few days, ha, woops! Thinking of you all :D Feeling a lot better after earlier too. Hope you all have a great few days xx

Just quick though, Joss, you're going away to get married on Thursday yeah? Just wanted to say congratulations and I hope you have the most amazing, wonderful wedding. Your shoes are super hot and I'm sure you'll look beautiful in your dress. Congratulations again

crazygurl61 07-18-2012 12:06 AM

Hi Everyone! Will check in for personals tomorrow.

Need to become accountable starting first thing in the am. Not making any progress and it's my own fault.

Tomorrow goal is to track calories and stay in my range!

krampus 07-18-2012 10:04 AM

Hi y'all, 127.8 today (ugh). Went swimming in a BEAUTIFUL WATERFALL PARADISE after work yesterday. Lots of clambering around on rocks and climbing hills. Dinner was a slice of cheese pizza and part of a grilled chicken/pesto/red pepper/spinach/mozzarella sandwich - not what I would've chosen but in tiny rural towns dining options are few and far between.

LivingSocial deal today for $50 (down from $100) for unlimited Crossfit classes for a month. JossFit I'm looking at you - I am really not strong nor "fit" and I am wondering if I would be able to benefit from "all skill levels" classes or if I'd just wind up getting hurt/not being able to do anything!

JossFit 07-18-2012 10:57 AM

Hello ladies! Just finished a delicious spinach, bacon and parmesan cheese omlette I made to chow down on after my workouts... I definitely earned it, and I'm still hungry!

My first workout was just a good full body weights session; nothing too intensive, but I wanted to hit all of those smaller muscle groups like my hip muscles, triceps, biceps and do some more "mirror muscle" stuff before CrossFit. The Crossfit WOD today was a 400m run to warm up, then 6 rounds for time of 10 pullups, 10 kettlebell swings, 10 dips, 10 squats and a 200m sprint.

Out of probably 25 people I finished with the best women's time (18:05) and tied for 3rd best time overall... not too bad after a shitty night's sleep and a pre-workout!

Krampus - Any CrossFit instructor worth their salt should be able to cater to a beginner. Generally the workouts are at your own pace, and the environment is so supportive that you push yourself much harder than you would otherwise. Even though I didn't really feel like going today, I'm glad that I did and that is always the case. You don't have to be strong or especially skilled at anything to start... like anything else, you build on it. I am fortunate enough to get to train for free, but that sounds like a fantastic deal! I would definitely check it out if I were you.
It sounds like you had a great day yesterday! The choices for dinner may not have been optimal, but you only had ONE slice of pizza and a bit of the sandwich. Portion control is a huge thing, so well done! Plus I'm sure with the swimming/hiking you burned a few calories. :)

Crazygurl - Meh, it happens to us all. It's darn near impossible to keep it up ALL THE TIME. I'm glad you're getting back to it, but I'm sure the mini diet/tracking break was much-needed.

Leila - Thank you so much! Yes, I leave early early tomorrow so today is all about packing and getting things done around here (and a massage... :) ) I will definitely have to share some pictures when I get back... my goal is to really maintain a good balance and not come back from my vacation with a huge gain. A few pounds is fine, 5-10 is not!
I'm glad you figured out what was making you feel icky and are feeling better! Keep us posted on how your vision improves.

Pixelllate - We actually aren't having a really traditional wedding. We are doing a very nice ceremony, but aside from my Maid of Honor and his Best Man there isn't any wedding party... and those two are only there to hold the rings! I actually don't even know what my MOH is wearing.
If we had "colors" they would be black and red because thats sort of what my fiance picked for the flowers. Our flowers are red with black ribbon ties, and red petals on the aisleway... but that's really about it.
We aren't doing a big reception, just dinner at one of the Mandalay's restaraunts and funky alcohol infused cupcakes from a really yummy local bakery.
LOL, I understand not buying clothes every time you drop 2 pounds, but 40-60?! It's probably time to pick up a couple of new things lady! :)

Turbo - Thank you! I LOVE those shoes... I wasn't even shopping for them, but when I saw them I figured I could wear them with my dress and used that excuse to buy them. I have to pack today and I'm planning my outfits for the honeymoon around being able to wear those :) Why pack more shoes than I have to?
You're leaving for 2 weeks?! Thats like, FOREVER in Feather's Chat time! I hope you have a blast but that you also come and say hi! It sounds like it will be a lot of fun.

Dottie - I hope the whoosh stuck, strange or not! The way I see it, there are all kinds of reasons that our weight might be a bit higher (Yes Turbo, even the poo!!) but you can't really fake being lighter on the scale. I'd take it!

-----------------------------------------------------------

Well ladies, if I don't check in again I'll catch up with everyone about this time next week when I get back. I hope everyone continues to have awesome WIs, a fantastic weekend, and that you all enjoy yourselves whether you stick OP or not! :)

krampus 07-18-2012 11:03 AM

Have an amazing wedding weekend JossFit! And thanks for the encouragement re: CrossFit. Hope you sleep better tonight.

:D :D :D
