Hard time loosing a small amount of weight - your help!

Hi All,

I am new here to 3FC and am looking forward to reading and getting tips/advise from others.

A little about me:

I am 29 years old and weight around 130 at 5'5. I know that is a healthy weight but I feel better around 123. I work out 5-6 days a week of intense cardio/running and some weights. I try and stick around 1500 calories a day and I do not count calories on the weekends but try not to go overboard.

What I have noticed is that loosing the 5-7lbs now is MUCH HARDER than it was a year ago and further back than that. I am not really loosing any weight with what I am doing now. I eat healthy, example, oatmeal, fruit, yogurt, salads - and I am very informed about nutrition.

Anyone else have the same issue? What made a change for you? Should I try a low carb diet? Cut back on exercise?

Thank you!

Hi and welcome to 3FC!

Your profile says that you've lost 3 lbs so far, how long have you been working to lose weight?

i am always on a quest to loose a couple lbs - unless I am at my goal weight. I started 3 weeks ago and have not gone lower than 129. its frustrating.

I totally understant the frustration. I have to say though, 3 lbs in 3 weeks isn't bad! "They" say that a healthy rate of weight loss is .5 - 2 lbs a week.

I've never tried low-carb, but I have read threads where members couldn't make their weight budge until they cut carbs.

I have the same problem. My first 4 lbs in the first week were gone fast. But now I'm really struggling with my weight, but it's actually overall my fault. Because I binged yesterday evening and today in the morning, and my 2 lbs came back =_=
But as I heard the most of it is water retention and something that has to do with sodium.. Hehe..
So just don't feel bad and do what you normally do, and if I were you I especially wouldn't cut back exercise (and calories, I think your calorie intake is perfect, mine is almost the same (no more than 1700 calories a day)).

Thanks! This week I am going to up my protein. I was a vegetarian for the last year and I think that may have caused the weight gain.
