Default Anyone else have eating days?

I have one day a week where I allow myself to pretty much eat and drink what I want. Does anyone else practice the same?

I usually just eat a good dinner and eat candy on that day. I feel that it helps me knowing that I have that one day a week where I can eat candy.

I/We do. Every Sunday is "Free" day. When we first instituted this practice (and we lock everything up so there is NO option to cheat during the week) we would go "hog-wild" on Sunday. But as time passes and every week brings Sunday I find that I don't go as wild anymore. I still enjoy whatever I want but not to the extent of gluttony like I did in the beginning.

I do and I think it has helped me a lot. I don't feel as deprived and I also think it jump starts my metabolism. I think it helps both mind and body.

I used to more often when I ate 1200 calories a day. Now that I eat 1500, I'm more fearful of undoing all my work. I feel less deprived though, so I don't mind so much. I'm really trying to meet a "deadline" at the moment, otherwise I might try another reasonable 'off' day.

Technically I should be able to eat whatever I want within moderation, but there are just some foods that are too high and calories that would leave me needlessly hungry most days. I'm not going to crack open a bottle of imperial stout (300 cal,) have a third, and let the rest go flat! So I think such days are useful for sanity.

yes of course! today was my day. a few slices of pizza and a carb smart ice cream bar so far. probably not too much else though. but it just seems natural to do this, because many do so without thinking. you need to feed the craving. just as long as it isn't a binge. (that's where i get in trouble)

I give myself 200-300 extra calories on Saturday! I usually go out to lunch with my mum on Saturdays, so it's hard to stay on budget when most restaurant chains don't have any dishes lower than 400 calories x_x. Silly that I'm ordering half-salads from Applebees on my 'cheat' day, but when you're at 1200-1300 calorie/day allowance you don't have too many other options!

I had a half-caesar salad and a tiny bowl of pasta today (pasta=my ultimate vice)! Got some snacks for later that I'm looking forward to!

I'm having one today, going out with my parents. After I see what it does to the scale this week, I'll probably think about doing it regularly, just to keep myself from burning out. Eating 1200 calories a day is hard!

Edit: I ended up only being able to eat half of a meal that I used to eat all of, which was really surprising. It seems like my body just won't let me get TOO crazy and binge anymore without feeling crappy earlier on, so I think it'd be safe to give myself a free day once a week. Woohooooo!

I've had "free for all" weekends ever since I started losing weight. If I had been stricter I would have hit goal way sooner, but I probably would have fallen into binge-restrict-repeat sooner too.

It's so nice to hear from others who are on 1200 calories a day. I am in maintenance mode at this level and most days it really isn't difficult. Like you, I get full on less food than it used to take to fill me up. Also, you get really good out of getting the most caloric bang for your buck. Greek yogurt at 100 calories is a life saver for me and I can eat a ton of egg whites for less than 100 calories. But the "eating days" help with getting bored eating the same foods over and over and like Krampus, I think it has helped keep me from the binge-restrict cycle.

For me knowing that I have one day a week where I can eat junk makes it possible to live with a lifestyle change. If I restricted upon myself that I could never ever eat candy ever again, I would give up trying to change my lifestyle cause it would seem like an all or nothing thinking.
The funny thing is that I don't eat a lot of junk on my eating day compared to what I ate on an ordinary day before.

I don't know, an "eating day" a week would get me way dangerously close to a binge/restrict cycle. I fear I wouldn't know how to manage it right...

plus I feel like I slip on naturally anyway around once a week! probably don't need to designate a whole day to it.

I guess everyone is different...for me it works. Yesterday I ate healthy and on plan for breakfast and lunch. Then we went for a walk on the boardwalk and stopped at our favorite burger place on the way home. I had a double cheeseburger, large fries, and my daughter and I shared a chocolate shake. The food here is not typical fast food, but it's certainly not health food. I've been going to this place after trips to the beach since I was a teenager and the thought of not ever going there again because I am "dieting" would be awful, so for me, allowing myself to do this is good for my mind and body. But that's me. And I am down a pound this week to 107.5 so I don't think any damage was done. It's weird because I had no night time cravings or anything. I guess the higher fat and carb content filled me up?
