Default Baby on board!

Well, looks like I won't be "out of the 120s" any time soon. Instead I am going to be gaining quite a bit, including a new family member! That's right, I am one of those gals that gets pregnant on her honeymoon.

I am kind of in shock. I am excited but sad that I can't do the things this summer that I normally do, like triathlons. I would love to hear from other feather-mothers. It is still too early to tell anyone in "real life" so this is really cathartic. Is it weird that I am having trouble letting go of the weight loss thing?

I'm not a feather weight, but I ducked in to congratulate you. Your weight loss can wait, but you can still do some exercise, though you might want to talk to you doc about suggestions for pregnant exercise. I knew a girl at my college that was 6 months and still on the dance team! Anyway, congratulatons! I know you don't want to let go of the weight loss, and you're not-you're putting it on hold so you can welcome the new most amazing person you'll ever meet into your life.

Hi! Not from the featherweights either... but I saw this and had to say hi! I also am one of those girls who got pregnant on her honeymoon, so you aren't alone!

I'm still exercising as much as I can, but I do have a friend who was into triathlons and running, and she was still doing 10k s at 7 months pregnant, and I'd see her bike riding around the parks when she was at the end of her 8th month still, so there is hope! What my doctor told me is basically, don't strain yourself... and with things like running and biking there is a risk of falling, which can result in miscarriage... so be very careful if you're going to continue doing it after you start to get the baby bump and your center of gravity is changing.

Woah, that's fantastic (and I hope not too scary) -- congrats!!

I think you can definitely keep working out -- perhaps no triathlons, but running, biking, and swimming (most of all) should be safe, within reasonable bounds. Yoga is supposed to be great for expecting mothers as well, especially because it's so easy to adjust positions to account for shifting weight.

I am by no means a featherweight - But wanted to say Congrats!!! -

Also a bit of advice, that you are NOT eating for 2 - I suggest asking your Dr. but its something like only a 300 calorie increase in the last 4 or five months.

Lots of WATER, and listen to your body if you are tired, take a nap, if you are hungry have a healthy snack. You are going to do GREAT!!!

Oh congratulations Kwinkle! Please keep checking in with us and tell us how you are doing.

Yea, speak to your doctor about it. I *think* during the 1st trimester you need to be a bit more careful than the 2nd & 3rd. But then... I'm no medical professional

Oh I'm so so happy for you.

Thanks for the kind words, all! I went jogging yesterday and today, and took my dogs for a few long walks. When I jog I feel really good. It lifts my spirits, melts away stress and lets me feel somewhat in control of the crazy things that are happening in my body.

I really am excited. It is hard to not tell people. It almost slips out in conversation all the time.

Congrats, great news! I'm sure your Dr. will have answers for you, but keep active if you can.
I really only got hungry after the babies were born, when I was breastfeeding.

AR4Life, did the weight come off quickly when you were breastfeeding?
