Hi everyone, I'm new to 3FC. I'm Cee, I'm trying to lose 8lbs and tone.

Wildflower 11-28-2010 10:21 PM

Hi Everyone!

Nuerodoc - glad your surgery went smooth and you are back at home.

Krampus - glad you were able to celebrate thanksgiving with some friends. It must be hard on the holidays to be an expat.

same7lbs - that's so awesome you ran a 5K AND ran to the race and back!!! Do you have any recommendations for winter running clothes? I want to give it a shot this winter, but even my short runs a week ago at 40 degrees left my throat/nose burning from the cold. Do you wear a scarf?

I completely fell off the wagon for thanksgiving...and I had 2 thanksgiving dinners (thursday and the inlaws, friday at our home). My only saving grace is that both meals were vegan, so perhaps that saves a bit on calories when you eliminate the dairy and meat. Or perhaps not.

I also got some clubbing exercise last night with friends. I was 142 this morning. Only up 1 pound after several days of not counting calories. Hopefully it wasn't due to being dehydrated, I've had quite a lot of water today.

I am really looking back at November. I did pretty well with keeping to my 1500 calories (until this last week). Also did well with getting some exercise in...but the scale wasn't too kind to me. I am only down 2 lbs this month which feels like not so much for all this obsessing about food!!!

I am rethinking my strategy a bit...haven't gotten it totally, but know that I was to start back up with running, start back up with weight lifting, and work towards eating more vegan, with vegetables being the basis of my diet. My s/o wants to start eating vegan in the New Year. I've done it in the past and found it a wonderful way of eating, but hard to stick to 100% forever. We likely will not be real vegans, but just eat that way 95% of the time. I'm always 100% vegetarian though. :)

Hey Feathers....

Didn't go TOO crazy on Thanksgiving, but I definitely had too much dessert! Ever since, though, I've been on-plan all day long but very "snacky" at night. Probably so "snacky" that I'm maintaining rather than losing, but at least I'm not gaining, right?

I'm going to try to be super on-plan this week, because I have an event this Saturday where I know I'll be sampling some foods.

So here's to a good week for all of us!!!!!

thesame7lbs 11-29-2010 09:47 AM

Hello Feathers!

:welcome: Cee! You will find lots of support and information here. At first I thought your stats said 6'2", and I'm thinking whoa! 110 lbs? 62" and 110 is much better!

Wildflower, I don't wear a scarf. I think when it's cold you have to concentrate on inhaling through your nose in order to warm and humidify the air before it reaches your lungs. I wear all wicking fabrics -- no cotton at all -- and invested in some quarter-zip pullovers rated to 0 degrees (not that I have any intention of running when it's that cold). I also got a fleece ear warmer that is worth its weight in gold!

Like you, Kellost, I am looking to be on-plan this week in prep for a Saturday party. Bring on the holidays!

Happy Monday Feathers!!!

So I never made it to goal for Thanksgiving. But I am very pleased to see the scale reads 129.8. I was PETRIFIED to weigh in this morning because Thanksgiving was beyond off plan. I would estimate around 3500-4000 calories. Did good Friday but then went out for the game on Saturday. And for some reason I thought at 10pm Saturday night it'd be a good idea to have a Jimmy Johns sanwhich, huge chocolate chip cookies, huge slice of pizza and two garlic knots. Wow! What a drunken munchie mess! So, needless to say, I am very pleased to be at 129.8. Now its time to buckle down for 2.5 solid weeks and get close to my original Christmas goal (125). My goal is to be at 126 by Christmas! This will be very challenging considering my upcoming parties and obstacles!

Neuro - glad everything went well! Your weigh -ins look like they are all over the place from your surgery! Has that settled down a bit?

Amy - Congrats on your Turkey Trot. I can only dream of running a 5k in that time. I have been running 2.5 miles at 27 minutes regularly. My ultimate goal is to be able to run 6 miles non stop under an hour! Oh I wish!

Ekicna - Welcome!!!

Oneoftwelve - You did awesome!! I too joined the crazies on Black Friday. It was my first year attempting it. I think it will be my last! :dizzy:

Have a great day feathers!! Lets do December right and beat these last stubborn pounds!!!

Petite Powerhouse 11-29-2010 11:47 AM

Long time, no talk, feathers!

Thanksgiving weekend was great to me. I ran 13 miles on Thanksgiving morning and worked out for three hours at the gym. I also worked out Saturday. And I didn't eat over maintenance even one day. So I'm happy to report I'm lighter today than I was on Wednesday. I'm actually seriously considering dropping a few more pounds to get down to 105 or 106.

Have a great day, and a great month of December!

Wildflower 11-29-2010 12:31 PM

Petite -

Would you mind sharing what your routine is at the gym? I am looking at getting back into weight lifting and looking at some body building routines...I will probably start out at twice per week and also do some running 2-3 times.

Just curious as I know you said you've been lifting pretty consisently for 20 years. I've been lifting pretty inconsistently for 15 and would love to get a better routine down!!!

Ekicna 11-29-2010 03:55 PM

Thanks for the welcome!

Lose25 11-29-2010 07:30 PM

Hey everyone! Well i amback from my crazy weekend and i can say i ate a whole corner store for three days straight. I dont i have ever ate that much in my life. But my freinds kept commenting how i have lost weight and i kept eating and etang and eatin. At 4 am after the club i think i ate a whole pizza with at least a dozen cookies. I was 135 friday and i weighed in today and it said i have gained 6 lbs!!! IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE?????! I reallly reallly hope that was ome sort of mistake! Has that happened to anyone before?!

krampus 11-29-2010 08:41 PM

Well I'm down about 1 kilo from yesterday's post-Thanksgiving disaster. Ate about 1250 yesterday and exercised a bit. Planning on eating about that today and seeing if I can't get myself out there running. Eating this little sucks, but I think I can get used to that lingering hungry feeling. I don't exercise enough to justify it "not being enough."

The upcoming weekend so far includes an all you can eat and drink party at a Chinese bar/restaurant to welcome back a friend who left Japan months ago and is visiting, 12 hours of Asian death metal bands on Saturday (I doubt I'll last that long), and I'm going to devote Sunday to relaxing, tidying my apartment and hopefully eating properly.

Lose25, I doubt you seriously gained 6 lbs, it's probably a lot of bloat and salt and water retention plus the food is probably still sitting in your stomach. You can probably work off one crappy weekend in one week.

Wildflower Thanks! I actually prefer expat Thanksgiving because the food is better and even horrible crap like the Macy's Thanksgiving parade seems exciting and nostalgic. I'm glad this only happens once a year though, whew!

thesame7lbs Do you wear running tights/leggings or stay in shorts? I find running in long pants that aren't skintight is super distracting and slows me down a lot.

Dianne Look at us and our active social lives! It's so hard to diet between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Good work staying under 130.

FatPantsSkinnyJeans 11-29-2010 09:12 PM

Hey all, just checkin' in to say hello....

Looks like everyone's got great ideas for getting through the end of the year in moderation.

My plan for tonight: Lots of water & tea, and putting up my ChRiStMaS decorations! :)

Weighing in tomorrow morning, will report back....eek!

Wildflower 11-30-2010 08:34 AM

Weighed in this morning back at 141. As I only went up to 142 after all the eating this past weekend, I think I can officially say I didn't gain. Yaaay. Now, to get this scale moving to the 130s!

Dianne042425 11-30-2010 09:26 AM

Good Morning Feathers!

Staying strong on my "two week on plan and no drinking" plan. Ran yesterday for 2.5 miles and stayed at about 1350 calories. Down to 129.2. On my way to goal :)

We can do this feathers!!

FatPantsSkinnyJeans 11-30-2010 11:16 AM

Happy Tuesday, Feathers!

Looks like I'm back to pre-Thanksgiving weight.. hurray! I'll take it.

I'm going to try my darndest to shed 3lb by Christmas.... I'm worried because I have friends visiting, a trip out of state, AND the holiday stuff... yikes!!

Dianne-- The "no-drinking" thing is REALLY helping me too... I snack like crazy when I drink too much. I'm saving alcohol for nights out and special occasions.

Wildflower--Congrats on getting back on track/maintaining through the holiday!

Sending positive thoughts to you all,

-FPSJ

Happy December 1st in the far east, feathers!

125.2 lbs this morning, WHAT?!?! Seems it took exactly two days to get rid of the Thanksgiving feast and achieve a new low all-time low weight. I'm really floating on air, hope I can keep this up. The past couple days were about 1250 calories, and I ran ~5.5 miles last night.
