Frustrated for no reason
3FC Featherweights,
Sigh. I have been spot-on with my eating for two whole weeks. Then, tonight, my siblings were eating the last few bites of ice cream in the four containers in the freezer to clean things out before my brother gets back from the store. I asked for a bite of Kristen's, thinking all would be good. Then I went and had some of my own. I'm pretty sure there was only a cup or so left of the vanilla that I ate, so it only gained me 280 calories and 14 grams of fat, which I knew I had left to spend in my daily budget. The problem is not that I ate it. The problem is that I am beating myself up for a perfectly reasonable choice. I think I'm frustrated because I saw 136 on the scale today, I do not remember ever seeing that except once since I began weighing myself junior year of high school. Please remind me that treats are okay once every two or three weeks. That this is about health, not weight. That I'm not a bad person for giving in to eating a cup of ice cream. |
If you feel like you made a perfectly reasonable choice -- and it sounds like you did -- then there is no reason to beat yourself up. A treat, especially within your calorie range, is a good thing, not a bad thing!
Please, remember, this is not about denying yourself and depriving yourself. It is about learning how to enjoy all kinds of food, in moderation, in a way that helps you be happy in all areas of your life. It sounds like you did exactly that! You had something yummy, something that you enjoy, but not in a way that will make you give up your goal of being fit and healthy (by which I mean, you didn't overindulge). And nothing you eat, no matter how much or how little, can make you a bad person. You have to do much worse things than eat a lot to be a bad person. |
There is nothing wrong with treating yourself every so often! Enjoy it--you budgeted those calories so don't stress:)

I love your avatar chickybird. I just might print it in large color and put it in my fridge and at my desk.
