Angry Impatience!

Fifteen pounds to go, after five months of toil!

I am thrilled with my loss so far, but finally reaching my minigoal of 145 has just set off this intense feeling of impatience. That last chunk of weight has GOT to go RIGHT NOW. I see my frame is getting smaller, but those flabby thighs and that stomach pouch are no longer remotely welcome.

Just go AWAY, pounds! Shoo! Go!

Blargh. I just want to be THERE already.

It is amazing what you have done so far.

But there are no magic pills - just darn hard work.

on the rest of your journey!

That surge of impatience is what's going to propel you over the finish line! Embrace it! Start planning that new wardrobe.....

I feel for you. I only have three pounds to go after a year and a half, and I'm getting so sick of staring at the exact same number day after day. But I know if I dropped it too fast it would come back on even faster. So we have to be patient

I totally understand the impatience, but I have found that sometimes it is possible to talk yourself down from it.

Ask yourself... What is really going to change once I reach that elusive goal weight? When you get rid of the last bits of flab, are you going to magically be happy, or even necessarily happy with your body / yourself? Are you going to be able to pick up unhealthy habits again? No, things are going to look pretty much the same. So try to just take a deep breath and enjoy this last lingering leg of your journey and know that you are making the transition into maintaining your loss for a lifetime.

I think what's frustrating is that those last 10lbs or so are usually some of the most noticeable. As we get closer to our ideal weight, 10lbs can be the difference between a body that still looks slightly heavy and looking like a hotty potaty. And that makes it doubly frustrating when losing them feels elusive.

I'm in the same boat. I don't want to wait out the last 25lbs. It's driving me crazy.

I am definitely feeling the impatient vibe. Mind you I have only been at this for 6 weeks, but after my first week weight loss of 4 pounds (water weight I am sure), I keep gaining and losing the same 2 pounds. It has been 5 weeks now...I want to see something lower than 145.8!

I am tired of exercising, tired of counting calories, and tired of the scale saying the same thing. And before I hear about it, there has been little to none improvement on the way clothes fit

But I will keep plugging away. I certainly will not get anywhere by quitting.
