Domino: I totally understand the point of your post and don't find it offensive! I also have been to Greece *sigh* and I know what you mean! I've been to MANY European countries (Austria is so beautiful) and even if the media ideal of beauty is to be thin, it doesn't translate to normal women the way it does here. Like Domino said, they let it "all hang out". Going topless is legal (and perfectly normal) in Europe and I saw skinny women and not skinny women but they didn't seem preoccupied with their body or nervous about showing it. They seem to not constrain themselves with an unrealistic (and often unhealthy) goal like many American women do. I know many women who won't ever wear a bikini again because of a few stretch marks or because they no longer have 6 pack abs. In contrast, women in the Coastal European countries I've been to, seem much more interested in having fun than worrying about the size of their thighs. That is something I aspire to. I want to free my mind from worry about what my tummy looks like or if my thighs jiggle. If I'm at the beach with my kids, why should I let worry rob me of enjoying the moment?? Enjoying life is so much more important!! :)
And my thighs are 22" at the very biggest part (the curve). But I'm really happy with my legs!! They're 37 inches long! |
dont know my thigh size, but now that i know y'alls we are like long lost familia! i wasnt sure where i belonged either. i know what my weight is supposed to be. healthy range for women is 100 pounds for your first 5 feet in height, and then 5 pounds per inch after that. (nutrition class @ local community college!) that means my ideal weight is supposed to be 115! thats totally crazy (for me, since that was freshmen year of high school). thankfully you can add 10% and subtract 10% for the healthy range. 126.5? that high end is still too low for me. im aiming for 140 cause ive been very happy with this weight in the past.
my current weight is 173. 33lbs doesnt sound feather weight... or does it? *hopeful smile ensues* profile pic of me in pink shirt is a happy weight. need to find current pic, but my heart shape face starts to lose definition! lol! |
The problems facing those needing to lose 25 pounds is much different than those needing to lose 125 pounds, they are both tremendously important to the person trying to lose. However the person having over 100 pounds to lose would wonder why we fret over getting the last ten pounds off. It is just a different perception to the individual . I applaud anybody who successfully loses.

Hi, I like reading some of the posts on this board, too, even though I feel far from a "featherweight". To meet my short-term goal, I need to lose 6 more pounds. To reach my long-term goal, I hope to lose 20 pounds, which puts me at the highest acceptable weight range for my height, BMI wise.
