Feathers Plan & Chat Nov. 24-30

Good morning all! Welcome to the last week of November!
The Americans in the group will have a major challenge this week with Thanksgiving.

How is everyone doing? What are the strategies for this week? Anyone planning for Christmas yet?

Have a great OP week!

Dagmar :o (see ticker)

Retaining water? I hope so!

It's not TOM so I'm hoping the 2 lbs. :( I'm up are the result of too much salt yesterday.

We broke down at the movie and shared a popcorn. Boy was it salty :tied:! And it was a real chemical salty as opposed to salt shaken on. That can't be healthy. I wish they would let people bring their own snacks.

DH is now committed to losing 2 lbs. per week. He has lost 14 lbs and has 40 more to go. This will be really good for both of us as I won't have the temptations  he brings home to contend with.

It's always easier to do something if both partners are on board. I think we can make this work!

Have a great OP day all!

Dagmar (:nono: salt)

Hello!

I'm new to 3FC, so wanted to post to say hi! I've been having a good look around the forums and I think this section of the "support groups" is right for me, but I'm not sure. Perhaps you could advise me?

Just over a year ago, I lost a lot of weight (around 40lbs), and since then I've been hovering around the same weight, in the 180s. I'm much happier at the size I am now than I was before my weight loss, but I am still overweight (my BMI is 28), and I would like to lose around 30lbs. This would place me safely into the middle of the healthy weight range for my height, and I think I'd feel a bit happier with my appearance and general health!

I read that this forum is for people that would like to lose smaller amounts of weight (up to around 20lbs), and obviously, I'd like to lose a little more. The next support forum up from this one is for those wanting to lose around 100lbs, which isn't suitable for me, so I'm not sure where to be. Is it alright for me to post here?

Welcome, Tiny!

Morning, Dagmar!

I am not doing so well with being OP. I am having a hard time getting back in the swing of things. All my clothes are tight, my scale is broken, but it's not good. I suspect I'm 148 or so, which means I'm back to square one.

I have got to start being LESS BUSY. I need some of my life for myself - that's all this is to it. Otherwise, I'm not going to be very healthy!

Have a healthy day, ladies! Hope everyone got more sleep than I did!

Morning everyone! Hi Tiny, welcome:). I've just started posting here recently myself.

Well, it was a challenging weekend but I got through it with out any major meltdowns. Today I've already gotten a little exercise in, but there is still more to do. I'm going to log my calories today if it kills me. Lately, around mid-afternoon, I start slacking and I stop writing down my calories. I think I go into denial mode or something. It HAS to stop. Just for this one day, I am going to make sure that I am aware of my food and my portions and calories and exercise.

Dagmar-salt gets me everytime. Give it a day and drink that water ;)

walking2lose- I find that I really have to claim my exercise time. You definitly need to carve out some time just for your self. I know it's easier said than done. But you do deserve time for yourself, whatever you choose to do with it, we all do.

Everyone have a healthy OP day!

Welcome Tiny!!

Dagmar- My Hubby is all muscle and he HAS to eat like 3000 or more to just maintain or he drops pounds like you wouldn't belive! I can't even image eating 3000 in one day... It must be a great support system to have you both on a plan so you can keep each other in line!!

Well I didn't do very well with my eating over the weekend BUT we installed laminate flooring in our bedroom and man my butt is soooo sore from the constant bening down!!! So that was good, but I didn't drink near enough water. And now it's TOM so I am having major cramps and I really don't want to be at work right now. I just want to go home and curl up with a heating pad....

!

When I had that "I AM NOW READY" experience I found 3fc kinda by accident. One of my very first posts was about claiming my exercise time and feeling both good and guilty about it.
Do it. You are worth it. ANd everyone will benefit from you being healthy and high on endorphins :D

Dining with the cat

:welcome2: Tiny! You can post wherever you like. We're a friendly bunch and always look forward to hearing from someone new.

Mudpie and I ate a lovely dinner tonite. Linguine with low cal bolognese sauce, with zucchini, eggplant, red peppers, and mushrooms added in. Mud ate everything but she doesn't like tomato so I had to suck the sauce off before giving her her tiny bits.

Do I spoil her? Of course! That's what pets are for.

Now I just have to keep away from the TV and eat my grapes and write out a bunch of Christmas cards.

Have a nice evening all!

Dagmar :tired:

Hi all,

Thanks for all the support! It's a case of knowing what I need to do, but day after day NOT doing it. Argh... I think I am so puffy that I'm motivated to get in gear.

tinycities 11-25-2008 05:10 AM

Hey everyone, awww, thank you so much for saying hello and the really nice words, it makes me feel really welcome and supported :D

I've been doing really well at the weekend and in the week but think I've been discouraging myself by hopping on the scales too often. I've eaten around 1,200 calories a day for the past few days, but haven't seen any loss. I don't expect to see a result that quickly, but I'm starting to wonder how useful daily weighing is. Also, I've noticed a bit of fluctuation: when I hopped on the scales yesterday morning around 9am, I was 1lb more than the previous day, and then when I weighed a couple of hours later, I was 2lbs less! Bizarre.

So this makes me wonder:
1. How frequently do you weigh yourself and why?
2. What time of day do you usually get on the scales?
3. Do you notice you weigh more/less at certain times this day, and if so, any idea why this is?

Mudpie 11-25-2008 05:53 AM

Tiny I weigh myself once a week, on Monday, and then every day of the weekend from Friday on (when all the "bad" eating occurs).

I alwyas weigh least in the morning. Never weigh myself at any other time (see previous sentence :D).

And daily weighing made me crazy. There was no real pattern and the fluctuations drove me nuts. Too frustrating :tantrum:!

Dagmar :dizzy:

Morning darlings!

I'm up already because this is my first day back to work. Send me good vibes would ya?

Hi tinycities! Let me have a quick shot at those questions
1. I weigh myself everyday. It just works for me. But you do have to understand that minor fluctuations are normal. If you can't see a few ounce increase without panicking ... you should probably weigh less often.
2. First thing in the morning. However ... as long as it's the same time every time and exactly the same attire ... you should get consistant results.
3. Yes, our bodies fluctuate throughout the day. If nobody else has found wndranne's post about tracking that over a couple of days, I'll find it later. A simple explanation is that we are made up of a huge percentage of water and water is heavy. Periods of dehydration and periods of being well hydrated throughout the day can cause several pounds of flux. And that's natural.

I dunno about the 1200 cals ... you might want to beef that up a bit. How about activity?
