Planning and chat for June 7 - 13

Well, I hope no one minds if I start a new thread as we lost the old one. Mudpie is taking a break so I doubt she'll be starting one.

After my party weekend last weekend, I was up to 158 on Monday from my previous low of 154.

But this morning I was down to 153.4! So hopefully by Monday, my official weigh-in day, I will be down to 153.

I had a date last night with a guy I met on a dating site. I thought he might be a weirdo but he was lovely. And much better looking than his photos. At the end I asked did he want to do this again and he said yes! Hopefully it was a genune yes and not just a polite yes. So watch this space!

batmomm2000 06-07-2008 10:57 AM

oooh Robsia! How exciting to have met a good guy. I hope you continue to enjoy his company.

I ran a hot 7 miles this morning. But a friend loaned us some fans to use til the ac is fixed so we haven't totally dropped here yet. Now that the running is increased, I can eat a lot more which is nice and still keep the pounds away. I just need to be careful not to overdo it.

Kitegirl24 06-07-2008 11:07 AM

Yep, we haven't turned on the AC yet so I'm sitting here melting in the heat......going to head over to the gym soon though.

Today is my weigh-in day - I guess I will do it after I work out (although my dad said I probably should just do it before I eat breakfast....he told me this as I was eating my bowl of Special K - d'oh!). I'll probably check in later - hopefully I can update my ticker! :)

Hi girls  I hope you remember me, your Featherweights moderator  ... So sorry I've been MIA so much since April...

Here's my story and I'm sticking to it  .... I started working full time, after 19 years of working part-time or not at all, which would not be so bad, except that I am also taking an on-line course, Library Tech. to help me with this new job... Studying and learning after not going to school for 30 years :faint: is really, really, really, hard :faint: ....

On the weightloss front I have not gained weight nor lost any  ... I manage to get some exercise in but never as much as before or as much as I'd like... Oh, well, c'est la vie!!

Anyways I hope everyone is well and I'll try really really hard to keep up with the chatter ... Later girls ...

Loveliam 06-07-2008 02:20 PM

So far so good today :) I was finally able to walk this morning before the heat took over completely.

Robsia- :bravo: on another lb gone! Is it confusing to you to keep track of pounds rather than stone? Ahhh - glad you had a nice date! That sounds promising :)

batmomm- ugh. I would not be able to survive without A/C right now.

Kitegirl - Oh I hope your weigh in day is a good one!

I am baking corn bread in my bread maker right now. But it is looking like maybe the yeast was no longer good and it may not rise so I will have to start over :(

Robsia 06-07-2008 04:06 PM

Well, I've been on here since 2006 so I'm used to it by now. In fact it makes more sense to me now in lb and I have to think to convert it into stones. My scales read in lb, stones & lb or kilos, but I only get the decimal places in lb so that's what I have displayed.

My chap from last night texted me today to say once again he had a nice time last night and he'd like to do it again - so that's very promising! Yay!

Kitegirl24 06-07-2008 05:22 PM

I am proud to report that I have lost another 2lbs or so, which brings me down to 116!! :woohoo:

I started working out 5 days/week and eating healthier about 4 weeks ago....so that comes out to about 1lb per week! I was worried the weight would come off slower, since I don't have a ton of it to lose, but it's going well so far. The best part is that I don't feel like I'm depriving myself in any way, so there is less of a chance of "giving up." :carrot:

Looking in the mirror, I don't look much different - but I am very eager to see a change. It's kind of a fun challenge now, though, to find ways to sneak in exercise during the day....like today, since it was hot when I came back from the gym, I spent the afternoon cleaning and doing laundry since I was all sweaty anyway  I am babysitting in an hour, and luckily my neighbors have the AC turned on! :D

As for tomorrow, I am planning on taking my dad's spinning class at the YMCA that he teaches, which should keep my weekend rolling...it's not too hard to eat better during the summer, though - I ate a lot of yummy juicy watermelon today that is in-season. :)

Hope everyone's weekend is going well!!

walking2lose 06-08-2008 10:52 AM

Hi everyone,

Ilene - great to hear from you... sounds like you are super busy, but it also sounds like it will have a huge payoff in the end - a new career! Are you going to be a school librarian? I teach English, and I've often coveted the librarian position -- fun with books but no essays to grade! Anyway, it's great to "see" you!

Kimberly - congrats on the 2 lbs. loss! That's a big deal on someone as tiny as you... you must be feeling great!

Robsia - congrats to on the loss, and YEA on the new "chap" ;) You'll have to keep us posted on any new developments.

Leigh - what time did you walk? 5 am? :lol3: Seriously, it's supposed to hit 100 today in ole' Virginia, so I can only imagine how stagnant is it in Georgia! Good job for getting out there and not letting the heat be an excuse!

And, Bat, I hope you keep cool today too... when are you getting AC repaired?

Well, a little update about me and my "goals"...it occured to me yesterday, when yet again I had nothing to wear to a lunch, that I have been a fraud of sorts here at 3FC for the last couple months, and worse, WITH MYSELF. Just look at my weekly weigh ins to see what I mean. A few weeks ago I "recommitted" to losing some of the lbs. I 've gained the last 3 years, and here I sit now about 4 lbs. heavier!!!!!

I must ACCEPT that I need to eat very carefully simply to MAINTAIN and not gain weight. I am 40 now, I still work out but not with near the intensity I did when I was younger, and a day or two of off eating, ADDS pounds to my behind, thighs, arms, and belly.

And the fact is that I do want to LOSE. I have very few clothes that fit, I do not want to become totally complacent and go buy larger clothes (which I already did last year), I want to look and FEEL better.

Furthermore, I KNOW WHAT I NEED TO DO. It is not a mystery.

Consistent exercise - 5 days a week at least
More fiber - last year when I lost 8 lbs. (which I've gained back), I was very conscientious about getting 25 grams per day minimum. I often got around 40-50. I know more fiber helps me lose.
Calorie counting - I do it, but I don't do it EVERY DAY. I need to count EVERY DAY and stay in my losing range (below 1400)
Plenty of sleep -
***Not throwing caution to the wind when I eat out This, I think, is my number one problem. At school, at bridal showers, at birthday parties, at cookouts, I have been OVER INDULGING. I have a little denial switch in my head that seems to flip on and I feel like the stuff I'm eating doesn't count. Well, it DOES COUNT. And I need to knock it off!!!!

So, the reality is that I have not really been working toward my goal. I've been "half a--ing" it and the results ain't pretty. I also realize that I posted a very similar post, oh, about 6 weeks ago, and I here I am again.

So, girls, please feel free to kick me in the butt a little :kickbutt:... hold me accountable (I know I must be accountable to MYSELF). I am going to be posting calories and workouts until I get a grip on myself and what I'm doing.

Thanks for listening and try to have a "cool" day! :beach:

batmomm2000 06-08-2008 11:13 AM

help.me.I'm.melting.

ugh AC won't be fixed til we get the warranty transferred to our name from the homeowner two times ago. This may not work but b/c the repair will be sooooo expensive we have to try first. Today it should be 100 deg w/110 heat index! Soon there will just be a small batmomm puddle LOL

WTG Kitegirl!! dropping those pounds is awesome!

good job Claire!! You'll get there now that you solved the mystery!!! :D

Spoz 06-08-2008 03:15 PM

Wow Robsia! I'm so excited for you, sounds like it's going well!

I've been busy busy busy, studying, working and creating a new website. I've totally given up on the scales, I'm going to weight myself every sunday or monday morning and that's it. Other than the odd day where I really overdo it I've been doing great so this month I aim to change that.

Hope all your girls have a great week :)

Loveliam 06-08-2008 05:26 PM

Robsia- hooray for second dates!

Kimberly - :bravo: on the big loss! Amazing I tell you :) I do not notice a change in the mirror either - and nobody else has mentioned my loss yet to me . . . But clothing is looser, which is kind of nice, and I know I already feel more confident from exercising and having more control over food.

Claire- oh my - so you know the heat of which I speak Ugh. It is horrible right now. Your new plan sounds very reasonable to me.

Batmomm - y'all need a hotel room! Though I guess that can get expensive rather quickly :( I would be sleeping in my air conditioned car right now if we did not have A/C :hot:

spoz- how awesome that you are doing so well lately!

I am happy to report that today I am doing very well (surprising for a Sunday). I got really worried for a bit when, after church, DH and I went to brunch at a place we do not normally eat. The menu was extremely fattening, but I managed to eat only half of the portion given and stayed well within my points, so I was happy about that.

Claire you stole my story  .... I know it too, it's not rocket science, calories in-calories out = weight loss, ... It is extremely difficult I agree... I like your plan, I may steal a few goals for myself....

Claire, I am now working in a library as a secretary and they "suggested" strongly  that I take a course to at least learn cataloguing, so that's what I'm doing... Now that I've gotten over the initial shock of making it a daily task to do, I am doing well...

Today I made it to the gym but not to do any cardio, this afternoon it was extremely hot for biking and tonight I got into doing homework and now it's dark out. My food intake today was really good so I don't feel too badly about not getting my bike ride in. It's a very hot here too, our AC is not on yet because DH is too busy renovating the bathroom -- it's gonna be so beautiful when he's done :D -- also our pool isn't open either  poor guy I run him ragged ... But c'est la vie, this heat is 100000% better than snow  ...

walking2lose 06-08-2008 10:52 PM

Ilene, well, on the bright side, it really does help just to know there is someone who is mentally doing the same things (or not doing) that I am. Let's try to keep each other motivated! I think Susan B is going through a bit of the same thing too... we'll get there... but we have to really work if we want to get there... and yes, we need a plan too, and accountability. Let's do this!!!

Loveliam 06-09-2008 09:16 AM

Good morning feathers :)

Hi, there Ilene! Nice to meet you. I too have intense hea where I live - but working A/C LOL.However I do have to walk really early in the morning before it heats up.

Claire- it looks like you've found some good accountability partners.

I did a 40 minute walk today and am back on track with power walking after my week of sickness - hooray! I do not yet know what DS and I are going to do today. It is still very hot and I do not want to do anything that costs a lot of money as I am on a limited budget this week.
