Time for a change

  • Just wanted to thank you all for your feedback on what diet works for you.
I decided I would try and calorie count for the next week and see how it goes. What I have been doing is not working- by day 5 I am so desperate for whatever food(or wine) I can't have that I go over board and lose control(what happened this weekend) So I am going to give it a shot. My husband should be home more at nite so i will be able to get my 2 or 3 mile walk in a few days a week-so that should help.
I weighted in at 132.5 this morning and would like to get down to 125.
I did have one question-should i be counting my fats as well?
Thanks for your help and support!
    I'll keep you posted
    Colleen
  • Colleen you count EVERY SINGLE MORSEL you put in your mouth ... A calorie is a calorie is a calorie....

Try Fitday.com, this is what I use to count calories and it helps a LOT... Weeks when I am not vigilant on counting calories I gain or maintain... Fitday will give you a break down of calories, fats, carbs and protein ratios... Do what works best for you though, some still use the ol' little black book method and write everything down...

There are other sites that are good for calorie counting but I use fitday.com and am very happy with it... I can't remember the names of the other sites...I'm sure someone will come along and let us know...
  • Sparkpeople.com also has an excellent calorie counter, and fitness tracker. I found it to be more user-friendly than fitday....

When I first started I found it hard to stick with things because I was telling myself no, I couldn't have any of the things I just LOVED. And I did just what you described...broke down on weekends, overate and had problems.

For me it's been a balancing act. The ONLY thing I won't let myself have, EVER, are fried mozzarella cheese sticks. I had to quit those cold turkey, for obvious reasons. But dangit, if I want a cheeseburger once in a while, I eat one. I just make sure to keep the rest of my daily calories low enough to let me have it and stay well within my calorie range.
