What diet works for you

Just wondering what you all are doing for diets. I have done atikns(3 years ago-was successful for me and then got pg last year)fat smash, carbohydrate addicts diet and sonoma diet.- I am thinking about doing atkins again-for a few weeks before i go on vacation-I have about 8 pounds to lose. Just wondered if you had an suggestions?
Thanks for your help

I did a combination of: calorie counting, whole foods and volumetrics. Portion controlled, healthy foods worked really well for me, it's been 3 years so it's also been very sustainable (which is key to long term weight loss for me!)

I would suggest going with something that you can stick to as a lifetime way of eating. If you're really set in eating how you currently do now, maybe just counting calories alone is good. I wouldn't suggest Atkins as a way to "drop a few pounds before vacation"--you'll lose 3-5 pounds of glycogen and water weight in the first week or so, but you'll gain it back once you re-introduce starchy carbs and a higher carb level back into your diet. Atkins is really about changing your intake of carbs permanently--so that you're leading an overall low carbohydrate life. If you're not up for a lifestyle change, I don't know if doing Atkins again is the best way to go about it. That's my .02 ;)

I do a bit of everything  .... I Calorie count, Body for Life - 5-6 small meals/day with a portion of lean protein and unprocessed carb at each meal - I also do Fat Flush, because I like some of their ideas ie: cranwater, flax oil, flax seed....

I calorie count. I seems to work for me since no food is off limits - I just have to decide if the extra calories are worth it.

Calorie counting for me , too.
lost it by calorie counting, maintaining by calorie counting.

I used to lose great with Weight Watchers flex plan. Doesn't work for me anymore though. I have been losing great with South Beach though and it seems easier to me, not having to count points anymore. I feel like I can eat this way the rest of my life. I do go to monthly Weight Watchers meetings to weigh in as I am a Lifetime member. :goodscale

Weight watchers gives me perspective but I've never been able to lose weight w/ them. The points seem to drive my hunger instead of my stomach... I have had luck with calorie counting. I feel like it puts me in control of what I eat.

Good luck...

Calorie counting absolutely!

It has taught me soo much about the nutritional content of food. Along the way I've picked up a fairly biased slant toward Body for Life with a hint of Superfoods mixed in.

A food lifestyle melange a la SusanB.

They all "work" for me but I like Atkins the best. I lose weight easier and I'm not obsessed with food (like when I calorie count) I have lost weight on all the diets I tried but Atkins maintenance was something that I could live with and keep the weight off. Because I can't eat fruit, low carb is ideal for me.
