Weekends are hard!
Does anyone other than me find it difficult to continue losing weight on the weekend? My weight drops during the week and creeps up on the weekend. I work all week to get it down again - only to start the cycle over again.
I think it's just a matter of will power and good choices while out w/ friends or having friends over on the weekends... Just checking to see if I am the only one w/ this struggle? :?: |
You are NOT, NOT, NOT, NOT alone here girl... That is my biggest problem... A little wine, a little extra snack, a little more of this or that... and BAM... I've gained a pound on Monday... Whereas I had lost a half pound on Friday  ...
I need to be wayyy more vigilant... Hey, Marathon Mom, let's make a pact to stay on track this weekend ? K ?... Wanna shake on it or maybe a ... I'm game are YOU? ;) |
Weekends are pretty hard, and it's mostly because I'm sitting around the house most days, with food and snacks everywhere!! When I'm not at home, and my husband and I are out, the trip usually involves a restaurant somewhere. But the worst part of it is my water consumption...during the week I'm able to get plenty since I sit at a desk and work. On weekends, though, I slack off way too much.
|
Ilene... You rock! Thank you for inspiring me! Yes. Let's  on it and we'll stay on track this weekend. My goal is to maintain/lose and not gain...
I love a challenge. I'll check in with you on Monday ;) Mindi - You're right - water is key.. I don't drink as much on the weekend either. We can do it! Thank you... |

Weekends usually mean fast food for lunch which always does me in. I try to get the best choices, but sometimes I cave. I agree, weekends are hard.
|
I weighed (gulp) 149.8 this morning....
|
for me weekends are easier. One, I run more on the weekends and two, I am not alone at home all day with the kids. Sorry, no matter how much I love them, being a SAHM is boring a lot of the time. Plus my son is still at the age where he needs snacks frequently. So it is really hard to stay out of the kitchen or to NOT grab a taste of whatever snack I am preparing at any given moment.
Unfortunately this weekend heralds the start of kart racing season which means several Sundays dh will be gone from 5 am to 7 pm which mean even LONGER time alone and no way to work out at all. Even my gym doesnt have daycare on sunday. :( |

I woke up this morning and nearly had an anxiety attack! Just thinking about the two dinner parties I'm going to on Sat/Sun is stressing me out!!! The sad part is my friends are supportive of my weight loss efforts. So there's bound to be some great healthy food choices. But after two glasses of merlot, I throw caution to wind and my downfall begins. Having confessed all that, it's clear I could use your help! |
Monique, we're here for you... Even with suppers out we CAN and WILL do this  .... so here's a  for confirmation of our pact :D ....
|
Monique! Way to go... Enjoy a little merlot and we'll check in on Monday! :) :) :)
|
Count me in too. Weekends are diet killers. I even try planning ahead and "save" a few extra calories for the weekend. I need to hang a sign in my kitchen - "GET OUT!"
|
A sign...heck...I need razor wire, crocodiles in a moat and maybe an electric fence....
|
 the more the merrier :welcome: to the WEEKEND!! Deb and Mindi :D
|
:spid: I Wanna be in too. Weekends are my worst! Today I was at 191.8. Lowest in 2years... need to maintain at all costs!!!!
|
We can do this!
:grouphug: Group hug for everyone who has committed to staying on track this weekend!!
I'm big on using mantras and great quotes to get me through hard times. Here's two that I hope will inspire and motivate you. "Discipline is remembering what you want." AND "The difference between the impossible and the possible lies in a person's determination." I'm starting off today at 141lbs with fierce determination to not gain an ounce! :goodluck: everyone! |
Hi ladies -
I'd like to join in too, if I can. I recently started working from home and lost a couple of pounds at first but this last week I find myself being a little bored and the fridge is calling my name. So tomorrow I am going to re-commit myself to my weight loss journey and I'm happy to find this support thread . I weighed in this morning at 150 so count me in guys  |
Yikes
I already had a moment. I ate way too much. I am over it and have regained control. Just wanted to pop in, fess up, and remind everyone to drink their water this weekend!
Good luck |
Nixmom -- Bravo on facing the challenge and moving on!!
abbyin -- Welcome to the weekend challenge .... dangerouscurves76 -- Great Mantras :yoga: .... Well I had wine tonight and some popcorn DD brought back from the theater but not too many extra cals for the day... |
I'm in too?
Just a question first. If it's so hard to stay OP (and it is) on the weekend why are we all waiting to check in on Monday, after the damage is done :?:?
Shouldn't we be trying to be supportive on the actual weekend? I know everyone is  busy (at least I am) on the weekend fitting in all the stuff we didn't get done during the week. But it only takes a couple of minutes to post. :o :o :o I already did my damage last night. My DH is going through a major drinking phase right now and he brought me two interesting beers "to try". After that I just plain ate. Relatives over for coffee and birthday cake (they're bringing it) this afternoon and then out to dinner. I will try to maintain and not go over approx 1600 calories today. I'll check in later. Dagmar :tired: |
Dagmar
I am not a drinker, not even a social one but I do love trying out new beers. I have no more than a few sips here and there but have you ever had Framboise? OMG...it's like nectar of the gods! That and Hard Cider...yum. Weekends are difficult for me only if I'm away from home and fortunately this weekend we're at home so I don't have to worry about going off plan. The unfortunate thing is I think I may have a mild case of food poisoning...woke up feeling not so well and have all the correct *cough* thing happening to me...we'll see how the day pans out. Hope everyone is well. |
Me too, me too
I'm in. This whole week (actually the last two) have been a bust for me. So it's important for me to get right back on track - spring is here and it will be warm before you know it. We can do this :carrot: I do not want to move my ticker to the left on Monday.
Amy |
MindiV - hmm razor wire, electric fence - do you think the shock from the fence would kill my appetite? LOL!
Monique - maybe thats the sign I need on the frig. Nixmom - way to get right back on track! Dagmar - I agree waiting until Monday to check in is a long way away. So I'll go ahead and check in because my weekend started yesterday (not busy at work so took a last minute 3 day weekend - I love those). I did good - exercise and low cals. Today will be my challenge. Birthday dinner for my future son in law (no - I am not old enough for one of those- LOL!). My husband picked the menu and I think I will need double willpower and a day or two on the elliptical. |
OK...count me in...weekends are my worst!
Only two days before we leave for London England. No time like the present to start behaving! Just ate a bowl of original Fiber One with 2 T. ground flax seed. Now off to do weekend errands and buy stuff for the trip. |

So far, so good today... Off to the gym in a few minutes :D .... I was down 1# this morning :D:D:D:D |
Checking in! ;)
Great idea to check in over the weekend...
I was acutally laying in bed this morning thinking of you guys. I jumped on the scale and am down 2lbs. I had a good night last night. I did have 2 light beers w/ some friends and my husband. But didn't eat any of the appetizers ordered except some chips and salsa. Tonight we are having friends over for dinner. I am making light crab cakes and salad... I am also making some low fat snacks (hummus and baked tortillas & veggies) I feel great today! Made it out for a quick bike ride. Crossing fingers... :dust: Everyone - thank you for inspiring me! (Ilene thanks again ) |
I'm checking in too. Looks like everyone is doing pretty good so far ;)
I been eating OP today and even walked on my treadmill for 30 minutes :tread:. I don't haved anything real exciting planned for the weekend so I figured while I'm sitting around being bored I could at least do some exercise. Hope everyones having an OP day! |
yes weekends can be difficult
routine for me changes on the weekend and so it is hard to keep it all going onwards
|
Sounds great - invite me over!
marathonmom Could you post your light crab cakes recipe or a link to it? I had crab cakes in a resto once and loved them but there was some serious fat involved.
Dagmar  |
Checking in....
Looks likes everyone is doing well :D
I have been OP all day -- even though the kids have indulged in hot dogs, french fries and oreos. BF thinks I'm addicted to this forum and my blog. Told him he'll be singing a different tune when I'm the hot girl on the bass boat this summer!! Ilene - you are my hero. The gym on the weekend? Who'da thunk it? Do 30 minutes on the elliptical for me would ya? My only exercise has been pushing yard apes (an affectionate label my father has for "children") around on the shopping cart for an hour at the store. MM- nice work on the 2lbs! Keep it up! ABB- Yeah on the 30 minutes! Dag- thanks for firing off the check in! I know that I fall prey to deviating from plan if I don't have to. Wanna report all good stuff... its motivating!! Okay... I've taken up enough space for now. Looking forward to dinner of chicken kabobs and salad for din din and some popcorn with the family while we watch BEE MOVIE tonight. Have a great Saturday all. KC |
your not alone- I just blew it today- after 6 days of being good
|
Whew! Still OP at bedtime!
One tiny piece of birthday cake. Two vegetarian cold rolls and a bowl of lean beef and noodle soup at the Vietnamese resto, followed by an hour walking and then a mint tea at Starbucks.
Still one piece fo cake left but I gave it to DH (yes, he begged me) and am off to bed with one day of the weekend gone really well. Good night and good luck tomorrow all! Dagmar  |

One day to go
I slipped on Friday so didn't weigh myself yesterday. This morning I'm holding at 135 :D.
I'm proud of that because last year the birthday scenario ended very differently. I bought a large cake that year :(. After going out to dinner and having a large dessert and tea we came back home and finished off the remaining half of a large double chocolate layer cake. :o :o :o Then we ate the rest of the mini cupcakes and drank a bottle of wine. I feel great physically this morning :carrot:. I'm going out for a two hour romp/photo shoot with a lab I love. Last year I was a wreck. I spent most of the day sitting around, just trying to get rid of my throbbing headache. This being healthy stuff has some merit, yes? ;) Dagmar  |
Sunday am Check in

So when I realized 480 a slice, I cut in in 1/2... and then in half again. I had a sliver. Seriously - I think it was about 1/4 inch wide and still 120 calories. LOL! Anyway - ended my day with under 1800 and an hour of exercise - so not too bad for a weekend |
On Track
Morning all. Did a weight check in this morning and have (through the commitment to this thread and all you wonderful ladies) managed to maintain so far. Even down .02lbs this morn. Going to go at it again, 1 meal at a time. If all goes well I may actually be looking forward to tomorrows normal weigh in!
Today will consist of chewing out my 18 year old if he ever gets home, doing laundry, probably monster bubble blowing and kite flying with the kids, and possibly a small birthday get together tonight. Bravo to the early morning exercisers! Stick with it! |
:high: to everyone who's staying on plan :high: ....
Today I am doing ok... Ran 5k this morning and swam with my g/f for 30 mins this afternoon... PLUS food is right on... I may have lost weight too :D |

Veggie casserole is in the oven and there are "plans" for something other than TV later ;) so I think I'm home free for the weekend! Dagmar  :p |
