newbie here

Found this site about a week ago and somehow missed this group. I kept trying to find somewhere to fit it and was feeling a bit shunned, so I can't tell you how excited I am that I found this group! :carrot: I put my story in the sticky above, so I won't bore you with all that. I'm just looking forward to losing this stubborn 15 lbs with your help...

Mudpie 01-20-2008 06:34 AM

Hi there!

Hello

I am 62 and have been battling the same 10-15 pounds all of my life. My "reference weight" has been slowly increasing and it is getting harder to lose the pounds once I put them back on. I have a good diet and exercise program, but I blow it enough to keep me in this miserable place. I have an apple body with most of my excess fat on my abdomen, so this is going to turn into a serious health issue (like increasing risk of diabetes).

I am happy to find this group and hope the check-ins will help keep me on track.

thisrlipo 01-24-2008 07:42 PM

hello! and welcome...I'm assuming you are a newbie. So am I, kind of. this is a great place to be. I have found that I have to be honest and real about my cheating...every little nibble counts and if I don't exercise at least one hour everyday it is not going to come of. maybe once it is off I can have a rest day every 2 or 3 days, but I will alway have to eat right. it's like I tell my kids, just because you want it doesn't mean that you should have it!

good luck and you've come to the right place!

Thanks for the welcome Ilene and Thisrlipo. Thisrlipo, you are right on about the diet and exercise. I don't maintain my weight loss because of an occasional binge, but I would weigh a lot more now if I didn't exercise regularly.

Welcome! I'm also new, but haven't officially posted in this folder yet. :)

Welcome, frog! Looking forward to chatting with you and supporting each other :)

RoseTears 02-09-2008 12:23 AM

hi everyone

I hope it's alright I crash your thread?!?! :) I have 20 lbs to lose yet and I know that it won't be easy....the last bits usually aren't! So all the support i can get would be fabulous...I give lots back too! *bats eyelashes* pretty please can I join y'all? :p

rainlips 02-13-2008 04:30 AM

Hello!! I am not that new but, I am doing the biggest losser challenge and I find it hard to get the support that i need. I only have a few lbs to loose, and I have a hard time posting that when others have 100 lbs to loose. I kinda feel gulitly. I am not shure why. :dizzy:
So It is nice to meet all of you.

Scenestealer 02-13-2008 06:31 AM

Rainlips, I know exactly what you mean - I just posted the same thing in the calorie counters thread. The featherweights forum is definitely a great place to get support no matter how little you have left to lose. Join us in our weekly chat, and you may also want to see frog's post "Does anyone ever tell you..."; it made me feel a lot better to know I'm not alone :)

3fcuser1058250 02-13-2008 08:37 AM

 rainlips (cute name btw) :welcome: to Featherweights, you are definitely in the right place....

frog0726 02-13-2008 08:38 AM

It's funny you all mention that, because my DH is losing weight along with me, and it's hard to see him losing 2-3 lbs a week because he stopped eating Burger King for breakfast every day...meanwhile, I'm eating 1200-1300 calories a day and working my butt off, and, well, you know. That's why I love the Featherweights folder.

rainlips 02-14-2008 09:21 AM

Thank you all for the welcome. I would love to par take in the weekly chat! Thanks for the invite.

Just Deb 02-15-2008 02:02 PM

I'd like to join in also if you guys don't mind. I've been posting in the calorie section for a while, but could use a little support. I didn't really have much support when I first started, but it seems that the more I lose the less I support I have. I've never considered myself a "featherweight, but it doesn't feel right in the other groups. Like I shouldn't be complaining and I already get that in the "real world". Oops - sorry - I didn't mean for this to be a mini rant.

RoseTears 02-15-2008 04:18 PM

:)

Hey guys...how are y'all? I have 16 lbs left to go to get to my goal....so I'm getting excited. :D I think someone here had hinted at the fact that it's hard to get support in alot of forums because we don't have 100+ lbs to lose so it's considered vanity or something like it. *Sigh* :p Or when you talk to friends or family about wanting to lose weight and you get the "you're already skinny" or "you don't need to lose weight". That makes me so mad sometimes!!! It's like, ok...you can be thin and super toned but I can't? WTF?!?! lol so it's hard to get support from anyone so i go online to forums to see if i can get a little something! :)

Scenestealer 02-15-2008 05:56 PM

That's exactly why I love the featherweights forum... welcome to both of you!

Mudpie 02-15-2008 07:59 PM

Sometimes there are just 5-10 lbs. between looking pretty good and looking pretty terrific.

Hi Deb and Rose  .... :welcome: to Featherweights ....

dangerouscurves76 02-26-2008 04:45 PM

Hi everyone. I'm so glad that I found this thread!

A little about myself...I've "quietly" struggled on and off for 2 yrs. to the lose the 15-20lbs I gained after a truly terrible breakup! Most of my friends/family have their own weight issues and I suspect may be secretly HAPPY that I'm not longer slipping into my skinny jeans. I could really use support and encouragement from other featherweights battling against those last few pounds.

Quick question *** What get's you pumped up and excited in the morning to eat healthy and exercise? My motivation always fizzles out in about 2 weeks.

Mudpie 02-26-2008 05:57 PM

My motivation

dangerouscurves I remotivate myself every three days or so (binge city time) by putting on my skinny, teeny (for me) jeans and a tight little t-shirt and taking a good long look in the full-length mirror.

Dagmar ;)

srmb60 02-26-2008 06:32 PM

And we come here to talk with our featherweight friends. Most times, someone is here who is fired up today!

Just Deb 02-26-2008 07:03 PM

I look to 3FC and the blogs for alot my motivation. I also find that exercising in the morning kind of sets the tone for my day.

3fcuser1058250 02-26-2008 10:34 PM

Exercising, reading on 3FC, reading health books, magazines, anything I can get my hands on....

:welcome: to the Featherweights and 3FC dangerouscurves76

dangerouscurves76 02-26-2008 10:39 PM

Thanks ladies for the great suggestions! I will definitely be visiting featherweights more often and checking out the blogs.

Mudpie: From way in the back of my closet, I just pulled out one of my favorite outfits. Dark blue jeans that use to fit like a glove and a beautiful shimmery silver top. I put them on and gasped for air! I am now MOTIVATED! :)
