Right again abbyin!
Everyone
"Hope everyone else is doing well (or the best we can right now). Hang in there - these holidays will be over soon (I hope)." abbyin Don't get so worked up trying to make everything "perfect" for your daughter. I'm sure she misses you as much as you do her and just being with you will make her Christmas a special one. Ilene Good luck with the cholesterol test. Jane :bday2: My DH is now sneaking bags of cookies into the house and gobbling them while I'm out doing my evening dog walks . How do I know this? Because I caught him last night and demanded the remaining 6 cookies. Ate 'em right in front of him :o. That'll show him what willpower I've got :p Dagmar  |
I too ate some cookies last night. One kind, of squares I made, didn't turn out right ... so I ate some. Makes sense don't it?
|
I understand about cookies, oh, too well. I bought 4 cookies the other day , they were'nt very good but I ate em anyway!
|
mmmmm - cookies! (did I say that out loud? :o)
Good morning ladies  Dagmar, you are right. I know I need to chill out and I'm going to work on that. Everything will be great, I'm sure. :coolsnow: Well I had an odd thing happen this morning. I stepped on the scale and weighed 148 - two pounds lighter than Wednesday. Now I know it has to be water weight because you can't loose 2 lbs. in 2 days but it did make me feel a little better though. Two pounds less I have to lose, right :D. I'll wait a couple of days to change the ticker. Hope everyone has a great day! |
I stepped on my scale this morning and was two pounds HEAVIER than yesterday. Especially bizarre because I went out and had a few drinks last night, and usually the next day I'm lighter (due to dehydration from alcohol). I really have no idea what my official weigh-in on Monday will be like; my weight has been very up and down all week.

Well I have nothing new to report! I did so-so on the eating yesterday but I'm back at it full force today. Journaling everything I eat seems to be the key for me. That just keeps me in check.
I am almost done with all my shopping but my SIL wants to do a gift exchange with everyone, the kind where you pick and then someone can steal it and you pick again, etc. Anyone have any ideas for generic gifts? I'm having trouble thinking of things that everyone would like (male, female, ages 25-60?). The limit is $50. My car is in for a major service today and they gave me a free rental car! I didn't even know that was an option. Much better than waiting around or having them shuttle you home and back. Allison-University of Redlands is beautiful! They had CIF tennis there last year and the campus is gorgeous. I'm sure you've already been there. But fingers crossed she still gets in to USC. You never know! Hope everyone has a great day. Jane |
Jane, I'd do a basket of cooking stuff--something with a theme. Like an Italian basket--include pasta, wine, pasta sauce or Italian spices and an Italian cookbook. Another basket idea would be a page of stamps, some basic greeting cards and some stationery and thank you notes and a couple nice pens.
I'm up to my eyeballs at work and don't seem to have the time to check in here as often as I used to. I guess that's good (work being busy and all). |
Jane--Generic gifts are hard! How about a movie-themed basket? You could get microwave popcorn, hot chocolate, and a one or two month subscription to Netflix.
|
I am going to suggest the generic gift exchange next year on my DH's side of the family, it sounds like it would be fun... Let us know how it goes Jane...
Today was a good day food wise, Friday is usually my day off workouts :D ... We have a party tomorrow night but I'm not worried about it at all... Tonight it's shopping with DD ... |
Hi everyone -
Abby- great job on the loss. Sure wish I could say the same, but I am just trying now to hold steady and not GAIN. I'm not too worried about losing right now because I've realized I'm just not in the mind frame for it. Too many parties, cookies, drinks, etc. and too little willpower and motivation! Gift exchange sounds fun. All the suggestions are good. Maybe a cool game would be another option (of the Trivial Pursuit sort)? Have a great day girls! |
Thanks for all the great gift suggestions! I really appreciate it.
Just popping on here before I go to work. A few more weeks and then I go back to night shift :carrot: (I know, I know, I'm weird :D). Hope everyone has a great day. It's a madhouse out there if you are going shopping. Jane |
I love shopping in the mad house, sometimes, today was one of those times... I got a really nice blouse to match with brown pants that I already have for a party tonight... It was fun but quiet at DHs staff party... we were home by 11:30... I also got my hair cut this afternoon, just freshened up for the party tonight I liked what the hairdresser did. I didn't eat too much I drank too much wine though, I'm surprised I can type  ...
I ran this morning in -21c weather... with no wind this was an awesome run... |
Good morning!
I have a lovely family ... have I mentioned that lately? We had such a nice day yesterday. And everyone got home safely before this snowstorm arrived. Today I have to divvy the turkey into serving sized bags and get rid of the cookies! |
We survived!
And no trip to Timmy's either! Stomped around in this howling whiteness that has deposited snow over the height of our front verandah everywhere.
Went down to the Danforth (major street) and over to the office supplies store to do a bit of shopping. Talked to all of the neighbours out shovelling. Pushed several cars out of snowbanks they were stuck in (did I mention that I'm Superwoman in disguise as a mild-mannered dogwalker?) We will be out there again tonite shovelling for the third time. DH is really feeling his "out-of-shapeness" already. He collapsed when we got back from our little jaunt. I'm ready to rock again. Might trudge down to the lakefront - 1 hour or so - and take the bus back tonite just to see the storm in all of its fury on the lake. Something so cool :o (oh that was bad) about being out in such an elemental thing as this storm. I love it! No way to drive though, just out on foot. And I'm not going to be able to get my little car out to go to work tomorrow. BONUS!! Can finish all of my Christmas stuff. I never take any time off work (except for when I break bones or have extreme flu) so sometimes these acts of nature can be a real benefit to me. Give me some "reading" time. Dagmar  |
I too am secretly hoping this storm stays blowing. I kinda like sitting snugly in my home watching the weather. And yes I walked in it too :)
