Haven't checked in for a while, but I'm still here. My schedule was all reshuffled and discombobulated because of the start of school, but it seems to be settling down. I'm now officially a morning person: up at 6, get The Boy to the bus stop by 7:30, in the gym by 8:00, in the office with my coffee by 9:30, etc.

It's so much nicer working out in the mornings than in the afternoons. It's cooler, which makes a difference in an AC-less gym. There are fewer people, it's the same people every day, and they're older and friendlier (more grad students, staff, and faculty; fewer frat boys). Best of all, there are fewer temptations not to work out: after all, I have to take my son to the bus stop every day, and once I'm up and out the door I might as well go to the gym!

Weather's getting cooler at night. I'm looking forward to making a big pot of spaghetti sauce, with zucchini, red & green peppers, lottsa onion and garlic, tomatoes... mmmm.

Have a great day, everyone!

Kim

PS. Weight seems to have leveled off at 136.5-137. That's a bit up from my ticker, but anything less than 140 is perfectly OK with me.

The census is really low at work again so they told me to stay home tomorrow. Which is fine with me! Four day weekend! However ... I stepped on the scales and the news wasn't all that good ... and we're going away for the weekend. Hmmm .... maybe I just shouldn't go near the scales until we've been back a few days. Vacation fluffy, bloat ya know?

Good morning everyone!

Still OP for me and still hanging out at 142.5 which is good news. I'm in work late today because I had to take my car for service. And brakes. At least I'm safe!

Barbara~we missed you! Sounds like you're really busy, though. I've made jam before and I know that it is a very exact thing--if you mis-measure you get rewarded with syrup rather than jam!

Susan~have a great 4 day weekend!

Hello ladies

I did better today with my lunch. I had grilled chicken on a whole wheat bun and a small salad with FF dressing. Much better than the last couple of days with :mcd:

Susan, have fun on your 4 day holiday. I know all about that vacation, fluffy bloat . I went away on labor day weekend and came back with a lot of that.

Hope everyone has a great Day!

Hi girls (and, yes, Barbara, welcome back!)

I'm over hump day in yet another draining week at school. I believe I am officially burned out on teaching because here I am at just week two and already 'over it.' That's not good.

Anyway, eating has been ok this week; sleep and exercise have been lacking. I am actually getting ready to go biking, though, and I'm looking forward to moving these soft muscles! I hope to be at - or preferably UNDER - 138 when I weigh on Friday.

Barbara- could you share the canned green bean recipe -- sounds really good!

Hi All!

aiyaiyai...things are craaaazy here. The combination of my thesis and classes at school is pure insanity. I am in the lab more often than not.

Food hasn't been too bad considering. I've basically been limiting portions, and TRYING to have healthy snacks, although there have been a couple of bad days. I need to get back on track...but I'm mostly going to try to maintain until I get into more of a routine.

Enjoy your vacation Susan!

Good morning. It felt fabulous to sleep until I woke up (without an alarm) this morning.

I've got a list of things to do today, nothing too sturdy or time consuming. Just a nice day. I should try to eat superclean. I have a walk date with a friend this evening but it's so lovely this morning, I think I'll go twice.

I just picked over 10 lbs of ripe and almost ripe tomatoes! I guess I'll be making salsa on Sunday.

Bad, boring day.....no internet for the entire morning. Couldn't even get our server to work, so I couldn't update any work at all! Amazing how we rely on computers!

I'm having a tough day, too. Just dragging, despite (or maybe because of) working out in the am and having a couple of cups of coffee.

At lunch there was a party in honor of a co-worker who is leaving. Her boss ordered a nice catered lunch with two types of lasagna (veggie and meat), Caeser salad, fruit salad, "fat peas" (peas in pod with cashews and some sort of oil-based dressing), iced tea, and of course the inevitable sheet cake. It was really quite sweet, and I think the co-worker enjoyed the send-off.

I had a big serving of fat peas and some fruit salad, and left the rest of it. But, even though I avoided the diet-busters, all those carbs with relatively little protein or fat left me ravenous this afternoon. Blech.

Contributing to my mood, the scale keeps creeping up. In my mind I know this can't be fat gain. I'm simply not eating enough calories to gain 3 pounds in as many days (I'm still averaging 1300 cals/day, logged religiously) and I've worked out for at least an hour all 4 days this week. It's got to be something else: plumbing backup, water retention, upcoming period, whatever. But I still hate to see it!

Grrr.

Would you be replacing fat with muscle? You know all this anyway - muscle weighs more than fat blah blah blah

Awash in diet Pepsi

I need to have one vice  and I think the diet Pepsi is it for now. :o

I am walking 22 dogs :faint: every day this week - OH MY GOD!!!

My own fault too for not looking at the schedule before saying yes. And now I have a cat starting tomorrow which is a 20 minute drive from the last dog. I should give this cat up but he's such a character (and I've been sitting him for close to 8 years) that I can't bring myself to cut him loose.

Caffeine. MORE CAFFEINE!! Oh, sorry, was I yelling?? :p

Dagmar :tired:

Busy season?

I guess with all of the fall activities now in full swing there's less time to post. Barbara is busy with her bumper harvest and I was wondering if any of you who post on different forums have seen Doughnut's name anywhere? Or Ilene's?

Dagmar :yay:

It is busy...work...school...after school activities.

After yesterday's horrible day at work, I had a relaxing evening but must have either eaten too much or didn't drink enough water because I'm up 2 pounds today. YUCK. Hopefully it is only water retention.

Tonight is the first football game! So fun! I'm taking my camera to take movies of DD's band half time show. She's really excited about the drum line this year. We're excited because she switched from vibraphone to electric bass in jazz band (which means we don't have to swap cars with her on concert days--the vibraphone only fits in DH's Expedition). However, she may have to switch from electric bass to upright bass and who knows if THAT will fit in her Honda!

I'm still around; work has just been busy. We have our major conference coming up the second week in October (we have over 100 speakers lined up and will have around 2,000 attendees) and even a month out there's a lot to do. The exciting thing is that Chicago is going to play at our opening reception and I get to introduce the band! Last year I got to introduce Huey Lewis and the News and I even got to meet Huey. It's especially exciting to get to do this at my new, thin weight.

I have to admit that I'm a little afraid of the maintainers forum. I've been lurking there, but I just can't bring myself to post. It seems so significant to change forums. So I may just stay here for a while if that's okay with all of you.

Wednesday did not turn out as bad as I thought. In addition to going out to dinner for my SO's birthday, I had a business meeting over lunch. I hoped they would serve something light, like sandwiches, but when I got there, all they had to offer for lunch was lasagna. Now I like a good lasagna as much as the next person, but lasagna from a workplace cafeteria doesn't count as good in my book. It looked like a lot of pasta just swimming in cheese and fat. So you know what? I didn't eat it! :broc: I had some fruit and a salad with a small amount of dressing. When I got home, it was only an hour out from my workout with my trainer so I just had a snack, instead of lunch. So that meant that I'd only eaten around 400 calories going into my dinner with SO.
