Okay, folks, its down to the wire. The big to-do is tomorrow night. I'm nervous as heck. Oh, and why is it when you are putting on a function for 300+ people and the RSVP by date was 3 weeks ago do people feel that it is okay to call 24-48 hours before the event to add another person or two? Don't they know that we've spent HOURS doing seating arrangements AND we've turned in the total number of diners to the convention center?

SusanB - The webcast is over (with no more panelist cancellations, thank god) but I still have to work today. I'm hoping it will be a productive catch up day so that I won't have to work over the long weekend (or feel guilty about not working).

alinnell - Good luck with your big to-do! I'm sure you'll get everything worked out and, whether you do or not, the event will go off as planned and probably no one there will notice anything amiss.

It ALWAYS turns out nice. Perceived problems always seem to either take care of themselves or disappear all together. Right now the only problem we see is that one group has 11 people and one has 8, and since our tables are for 10, we're putting one of the 11 in with the 8. The tables are next to each other. The only foreseeable problem is that the tables are from different high schools. We had one person ask to add a person late last night, but this morning, we had 3 cancel so all is good there. I'd rather have a couple extra plates than not enough food!!! (We already turned in the final numbers.)

Barbara -- TGIF, girl! I hope you have a relaxing weekend after all that stress!!!

Allison -- Good luck with your event! It sounds like you have it under control... those kids will just have to mingle and make new friends!

Susan -- yes, the BTN thing works VERY well for me on a psychological level. There are many days when I would go home and not workout at all, but telling myself that I'll do a BTN day gets me out walking, or biking, or to the gym. Sometimes I end up having a really good work out and other days it truly is BTN -- 20 minutes or so of something light. But it still pushes me to go out and move, so I use it a lot.

I'm heading to pennsylvania for the weekend (family reunion), so I'll check in on Monday. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Sorry I've been MIA for the past few days, but good things come in threes ;)

#1: The American Idol PR event I was working turned out REALLY well; I said I'd reveal more this week, but turns out it'll go on TV next week, so I'd feel bad if I let the cat out of the bag now, but I PROMISE to let y'all in it next week.

#2: Got off work at 2 p.m. today!!! Which is good since I've been working 12-hour days for 3 days straight (see #1) - and yes, the 3-day weekend for R&R (and exercise) came at a VERY good time :)

#3: I'm 144.6!!!! Ahead of my 145 by summer goal (even when I pushed up the deadline to June 1st) ~ less than 10 more pounds to go till my lifetime/maintenace weight. I'll update my ticker later this weekend but WEE!!

and kinda good thing number #4 (even though it's anticipated and not as much a surprise) - my shipment of Penny's Low Fat Muffins & Cookies came in today! I love those low-calorie, high-fiber treats and can't wait to sink my teeth into 'em (one serving at a time, of course---ok, maybe an occasional two ;) )

Anyways, heading out for the night (mindful of what I'm eating/drinking, of course ;) ) - hope everyone here is going to have a great Mem. day weekend!

Aquawarlock has a boatload of good news! You're doing awesome, my friend!

I, on the other hand, have had a couple of days of evening gorging. Geeesh!

Dh is going to walk with me this morning. What's left now ... a lady with a walker could pass us I guess.

BTW Allison ... my family loved the story of the wheelchair people.

Some whine with that cheese please!

We have a crisis coming in Toronto with usage of parks by dog owners and dog walkers for pay (that's ME!). :fr:

We organized a meeting (newspaper ads, flyers, emails, etc.) and now it turns out the City is holding their public consult on the night of our meeting! The meeting, of course, was to prepare people for the consult.

Now I will spend my whole weekend doing damage control and scurrying around like a rat. :stress: I was hoping to relax in my kayak.

Headed straight for the grocery store last night. At least DH and I split the monster cookies and litre of sugar free ice cream. Total sugar hangover at 2 a.m. :barf:

I will begin again on Monday. Next week is going to be insane so I just hope to maintain and not hit the grocery store again. AAARRRGGHHH!!

Have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend all of you American Feathers!

Dagmar :ink:

Finally!

I'm with susan on the evening gorging although I have had a couple of months. Finally last night I said "I'm hungry" and then said "tough sheeet". It was purelt pavlovian hunger because just 10 minutes before I felt stuffed.

I posted this in the nursing moms forum but thought it was too funny to not share..I must be tired..I am pumping for my long run and I pumped the first ounce before I realized I HAD FORGOTTEN TO ATTACH A BOTTLE and was pumping it right on to my lap. Yes it took that long for the wet to register. Thank god I am still in my nightie and not my running clothes

ennay 05-26-2007 09:21 AM

did I mention at my half marathon a coupple weeks ago I was beaten by a 62 year old?

srmb60 05-26-2007 09:41 AM

Did she have a walker?

BlueToBlue 05-28-2007 03:47 AM

ennay--:lol3: you are too funny! Both the pumping story and the marathon story.

So, sometimes on Sat mornings I swim laps. Part of my lap swimming routine is three 200-yard sets of intervals, where I swim as fast as I can for 25 or 50 yards, then swim a recovery 25 or 50 yards. This Saturday I was sharing a lane with a man who must have been at least 60 and who looked hopeless as a swimmer. I swear, he was listing to one side and making a gurgling sound. But, would you believe it, as I was doing my fast-as-I-can swim, he would start after me and catch up to me every time! I guess I'm not as fast as I thought I was. :o

I'm definitely having a relaxing evening. I've had the better part of a bottle of wine (hmmm, maybe there should be some rule about posting when inebriated). But today was crazy. I made both bean pickles and asparagus pickles, which took longer than I thought. Then I had to make dinner, which included the final crop of fava beans from our garden. Man, I'm starting to hate fava beans. They taste good but are soooo much work and sooooo high in calories. After double-shelling them all, we must have four cups of fava beans. I managed to use 2 cups tonight, but it took so long to shell them all that we didn't eat dinner until 11:00 PM (a new all-time record for us). The good news is that with all the pickles and fava bean production, I didn't have time to eat much, so my calories are way low for the day, making room for all the wine I've had (after shelling all those favas, I really needed a glass of wine--well, actually, apparently I needed several glasses of wine).

Mudpie--I'm very curious about your kayaking. Where do you kayak? Did you take lessons to learn how? Do you own your own kayak or are the places where you can rent them? Was it hard to learn? How long have you been kayaking for? Kayaking is something I've been interested in for a while but just have never gotten around to doing. I love the idea of sports that I can do sitting down!

Aquawarlock--Congrats on your new low and on the American Idol event. I can't wait to hear more about it.
