Hey everyone!
Here I am Susan! hmmm, a boat load of salad fixin's? Sounds delightful! What have you got planned? I myself am thinking of some kind of green bean salad tonight. Along with a portabell mushroom bake. clvquilts - What a story! Thanks for sharing. It's always inspirational to hear about people who have faced such problems and come out so strong. silverbirch and susan, I have images of people randomly lunging down the street instead of walking, I had a good laugh and am still smiling. Swim wear is always a great inspirational piece doughnut. Are you going to be doing a one piece or a two piece? I don't know if I'd ever have the guts to wear a two piece really, I just feel so naked in them. So my day has been okay-dokey. I'm still really really tired, but I think if I get a good sleep tonight I'll be better. Hopefully it'll wear me out enough to get me to just fall asleep when my head hits the pillow. Well I'm sure I'll be back a bit, but right now I've got to get supper going and get in a short run (it's so wet and icky out and my roommate is all sick and stuffed up that the inspiration for getting outside isn't comming...). |
A salmon filet, ff cottage cheese, a whole dinner plate full of mesclun and iceberg lettuce with ff italian dressing.
My friend and I just walked 4 kms. It is sooo lovely outside! |
Oh Susan that meal and walk sound wonderful!!
I had a great day too... Did lots of stuff and worked out 3 times AND food was good too, IMAGINE?!?!? :dizzy: But I sure am tired so I'm off to shower and to bed .... Night all  |
Just wanted to add Carolyn, your story touched me  you are a very strong lady...
|
Yes Carolyn, thanks for posting your story. I am so glad that you have found a series of medications that are keeping you healthy and well.
|
Hi everyone
..........and especially to Susan B. I looked for your post to see if you knew me and there you were! Thanks a lot for your welcome!
Today wasn't a bad day for me. But I find that the night is the worst. I am actually pretty focused during the day on eating healthy, but at supper time and at night, I find it hard to stop nibbling and thinking of something more to eat, even when I am full. I think that is how my body hangs on to these last 10 pounds and never seems to want to let go. Does anyone else have trouble at night? Maybe I should just go to bed at 8:30!! |
I tried going to bed right after 'House' but I'm wide awake!
Not hungry tho' ... I even checked the fridge and nothing appealed to me. But lots of us eat in the evening. Just make sure you've got something healthy to snack on. Baby carrots are great! It's now after 12:30 and I'm finally yawning. You all are gonna have to kick me out the door to go walking tomorrow. Night everyone. |
Well I think that 2 hours of kickboxing last night got me back in the swing of things. :) Today I've had FF greek yoghurt, which is V high in protein :T with a few sprinklings of musli on the top. Then I've got some prawns to put in a pitta for lunch, I've bought turkey steaks and green beans for tea. I'm going to roast the green beans and see what happens :crossed: I've also got some fromage frais for BfL apple pie, which I'm going to make with the plums that have been sitting on my desk for weeks! I doubt I'll get to the gym at lunch, but I plan on either going after work for some treadmill work  OR joining a running group that starts off at our local running shop. :dunno: I need to see how my knee is feeling really. It's kinda grumbling but in a different way  |
Good morning! What's everyone up to today?
|
Thanks for the reply, Carolyn. Sounds like you have a real handle on the healthy habits you practice regularly and also a good doctor helping to tweak your meds. So many meds have a negative effect on people's weight and add further stress because of that - glad you've had a better experience.
Hello to suerose - some people brush their teeth when they want to be finished eating for the day. Then foods don't taste as good, plus there's this feeling that you'd have wasted your time brushing if you were just going to eat again. And most of us hate to waste time! I grab a stalk of celery lots of evenings, but that's as much to be sure I get in my veggie count as to avoid carbs. When I get to the end of the day and realize I want to add another veggie, I can count on celery not to bother my tummy during sleep. It's very soothing to tummies and in fact is a natural acid-indigestion remedy. Susan, what a remarkable post you made for us! That was so nice to read through - I felt like I learned more about other posters, too. Yep, missing some of our students who are probably studying hard, Carey, also Dana and others. Yesterday was an "off" day and today I'll get in 50 minutes of workout video, probably standing. Reading through Ilene's exercise thread, I am amazed  at some of the schedules, upwards to 5 times as much time as I put in. Happy for each of us as long as each is happy! :luck2you: For me, as long as I'm slimming down (whittlin ;) ) at this rate, I love my 2.5 a week. |
I'm kinda draggin' today gals. I've been for a walk/jog and have some laundry on the go but ... blah ...
It's dreary and drizzling. Maybe that has something to do with it. |
Likewise, Susan. Although the weather is not dreary, I didn't sleep so well last night and I'm dragging this morning.
Calories were a bit high yesterday but my weight was only up .5 this morning, so that's good. Plan today is light morning and lunch but we're going out to my favorite Mexican place tonight. So that means a margarita!! I plan on ordering the shrimp--it comes with a ton of fresh steamed vegetables. Carolyn~(((((hugs))))) that is quite the story. Ilene~polish? Well, if you say so. I guess people think I'm more outstanding than I think I am. Did you hear that? Doughnut says I'm a mainstay!!! Glad to hear you're back on track, Jen! Kickboxing sounds like fun, but a lot of work, too! Hope finals are going well for our college chicks. Hi to the newbies!!! Have a great day everyone!!! |
Guess what ladies, I've hit my goal weight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It ususally takes me two weeks to lose a pound, so I knew I had to be patient and wait it out! Here's to everyone else reaching her goal as well. Today, I've already done my floor exercises. Got up to 20 'real' push ups. DH has put our mountain bikes on the rack on the back of the car. He said he's found some dirt roads out in Wharton State Park in the Pine Barrens of South Jersey. I gave him the raised eyebrow because I failed miserably when he took me on the dirt bike trails through the woods two weeks ago. He swears there won't be hills and valleys, sharp turns and tree roots to negoiate. Tonight is our West Coast Swing class followed by the dance. We really look forward to Wednesdays now. DH had a few interviews this week and another on Friday, plus some lined up for next week. In between, we might go spring skiing this weekend. Jen ~ 2 HOURS of kickboxing! I'm supper impressed. I don't think I'd last more than 10 minutes. |
WTG Carolyn!!!!!!!!!! And wow, you'll be getting your exercise in today!!
|
:high:
Way to go Carolyn! Hi suerose. I am a nibbler. I try to keep it nutritious and I budget for it. Sometimes I skimp on dinner so I can snack later. Oral fixation. I try to stick with carrots and apples. Sometimes I get done in by popcorn. Low in calories but the salt gets me. Its a weakness but I suppose it could be worse. Had a good run today. Enjoying this crazy spring weather. |
hi girls, been redirected to forum for featherweights. i don't feel like a feather weight. these 15 pds seem very heavy to me. i guess i don't stay the course long enough to see a change. how do you find the motivation to keep up the work outs while the scale stays the course? my eating isn't too much of a problem and wouldn't be a problem if the $#@%^ scale would move. i guess i want instant gratification and it isn't happening. please tell me what you do to keep up the work out that is hard to fit in as sacraficing sleep seems to be the only way to fit it in.
yes, the kiddies are asleep and i could work out now, but i read, and how conveinient, that work outs at night keep one up! any suggestions welcome. parameters as follows: kids up at 7am and out of house by 8:15. preschool for 3 year old: m w f, 9-11:30 (time reserved for tax prep and business phone calls) school for 5 year old 8:25 to 3:15. homework, dinner, laundry, etc. also currently prepping home for open house (for sale due to relocation issues w/hubby) hubby no help. what works for you? maybe i could figure it out with more than one brain! |
Chinadoll
:welcome2: You sound busy. I run first thing in the morning every other day for about 30-45 minutes. I work in weights as I can grab a spare minute throughout the day. And whenever I get a chance I round up the kids for a walk. Not a perfect schedule but its as good as it will get until my 2 year old is more independant. |
hi!!!
SusanB pointed me here and I'd like to join :)
Everyone is doing such a great job! Reading everyone's post just encourages me more. Today my plan is eat healthy and workout. I'm not sure of the workout yet. I think I'm going to run. (I know I said today, but I live in a different time zone. It's morning here (Japan) and nighttime in the States. Hope it doesn't confuse people) The past few days I've been eating good and exercising.. Now just have to continue! |
Hi meowies. Welcome to featherweights!
:welcome2: |
Another newbie :welcome: we LUVS newbies here
I had a great day, went to the gym, went shopping, bought 3 pairs of earings, ate out twice but made good choices... It's all good :D Later I have to pick up DD at her friend's place.. .Later  |
I bought a new scale today. It's a Taylor Digital that reads out in .02 increments (my other one was digital but just Pound only weight).
I did make a nice discovery. I put it on my ceramic tile floor in my bathroom and it weighed me 2 lbs. lighter than my old one :o . Than my DH and I wanted to see which one was right so we moved them to another part of the bathroom and they weighed a few pounds different . We then moved them outside of the bathroom on the hardwood floor and they were the same weight :dizzy: . We realized that the ceramic tile is probably not even (even though it looks even) in the bathroom and the hardwood floor was a much flatter and even surface. So, I guess from now on I will be weighing outside of the bathroom. Just thought you all might want to check that out. Oh, and by the way, I also am "really" 2 lbs lighter! :D |
I had an up and down day today. I had lunch out where I had no control over the food (buffet-style catered lunch) and managed to make the best possible choices I could have. It was Mexican and I made a nice grilled chicken salad, completely skipping the tortillas, sour cream, and churros  (and only a tiny amount of cheese). But then I broke down and had a slice of friendship bread tonight (see my "confession" in that thread). You win some, you lose some... (or maybe that should be, you lose some, you gain some--as in weight ;) )
Clvquilts, congrats on hitting your goal weight! You have a really amazing story. It makes me very thankful that the only "meds" I have to deal with are BC and allergy stuff. I'm glad you are doing so well on your current meds. Oh, and my flu was one of those 24-hour bugs. It ripped through me pretty fast and was a pretty mild version of it, so it's not as impressive as it sounds that I only missed two days of exercise. And I envy you that your DH will take swing classes with you. I've been trying to get my SO to do that for years, but he just plain flat refuses. Abbyin, congrats on being down two pounds! Susan, glad you enjoy my smiling mug, I love seeing your picture too! So many of you are mainstays for me, including you Alinnell ;) , that I'm afraid to try to list you all because I'm sure to forget someone. I enjoy reading everyone's posts, even if I don't always respond to them all. This darn work thing--takes up all my time and I can't spend as much of it on 3FC as I'd like to! :tantrum: |
Carloyn :woohoo: :woo: :cp: :cheer: :cheer2: :dancer:  :cb: :carrot: <-(sorry Susan!!!! ;) )
WELL DONE YOU!!!!!!!! Hello newbs  I lazed around last night, but I finally got some wedding photos printed off to go in an album :) We've only been married 5 months! They'll sit there for another 5 months waiting for me to print the rest of the pics off, then they'll all sit there for another 5 months waiting for me to trim them, then put them in the album! Today is GYM :hyper: then 2 hours of kickboxing. ATCHOO! I'm a bit sneezy, but hopefully nothing too bad :) |
china doll, working out at night does disturb SOME people's sleep - it's not a given, though. You could try it and see. Some people find that exercise helps them sleep no matter when during the day they do it. For someone with small children, I would recommend exercise videos so that you can be there in the home when exercising, pick your own time on the spur of the moment, and have no prep or travel time. I'm a long-time workout video-er, so I realize I'm predudiced, but they really do give a Mom some options.
meowies, so glad to see you did make it over to our planning thread! Welcome. abbyin - hello! Congrats on a 2-pound loss. We have 2 scales here, too, and use them to compare and scratch our heads over what their readings mean!!! LOL! Congrats to Carolyn for meeting her goal. Blue, into each life some bread must fall. hikerchick, they are talking about a 19-degree temp drop here over the next 48 hours. Yuck. And we've had such nice weather. But to tell you the truth, I actually slept hot last night and was kicking off covers. Weird. Allison, I think you get a good rep 'cause your photos were very well chosen and just give a really nice impression. Also, you have that cute swirly 'round about your name! Actually, you and others inspire me to use personal photos. How did you get the other one in your signature? I'll have to go check out that possibility. My dh is a little iffy on the idea of any of our family's actual faces being "out there" on the net (well, mostly the children, but I know he'd rather I didn't). Seeing the dog pic gives us a clue to you, though, like others' personal pics of life not necessarily their own faces. But like Blue says, not enough time to do all I'd like.... ... It's an off day for exercise but an on day for grocery shopping. Need to think produce! |
gym
Well, I've been going to the gym everyday since Monday (so 3 days in a row now) and I really want to go today. However, I have to watch my nephew for a week and I can't bring him to the gym with me. I feel like my week is ruined. I'm hoping that my DH gets home from work at a decent hour and I can get there before they close. Just in case I'm going to break out my Pilates DVDs so I don't feel like a complete failure today. If I don't exercise today then my urge to eat with strengthen. When I exercise it's easier for me to control my eating because I don't want to ruin the great day...
I'll let you all know tonight how today went. |
Good morning everyone!
I saw Carolyn over in Maintainer's ... isn't she an awesome asset to 3FC? I had to enlist the aid of Suzanne to get a pic for my avatar. I am useless when it comes to pictures. It's cooler here today too. Back under freezing but I can walk in that. |
Good morning everyone!!! I don't have time to address everyone this morning. Very busy day ahead: drop of DS at school, get oil changed in car, go to work, leave work early to pick up DS from school, run home to get ready for meeting tonight, drop DS off at karate and then go to my meeting. Whew! I should be home around 9 PM, so the only free time I have is for the next 20 minutes and then whatever I can fit in at work.
Weight is staying at 140, hope to see 139 this weekend. Dinner out last night was so good. Camarones Confideo (shrimp) served over spinach fettucini with an adobo sauce accompanied by steamed broccoli, carrots and zucchini. I ate only 2 bites of the pasta, all the veggies and shrimp (I think there were 8 big ones). Also, I ate only a dozen chips with salsa! But did manage to get my margarita! Glad the scale still liked me this morning! Welcome to the newbies! I'll try to answer a few posts later. |
Allison, that shrimp dish sounds so yummy I could eat it for breakfast. But I don't think I'd have the willpower to only eat two bites of pasta for me. Esp. not spinach fettucine-yum! And when you take your car in for an oil change, can you take mine too? It's about 5,000 miles past due for a tune up (one of my New Year's resolutions is to get that d**n car tuned up and I still haven't done it!)
Chocobroc, I'm glad you weren't offended by me laughing at you over your pudding cup in the Confessions thread. I just read your profile and cannot believe you have five kids! I don't know how you do it--if I had five kids, I think I'd be eating a pudding cup for everyone of them! |
Any kids after 2 are not a big change I have 4 and would of had more but the hubby says he wants to retire someday. Now why would he want to do that?lol.
I don't seem to post much here I see. i can't remember tha last day I did. I drank so much water yesterday my scale was up 2 pounds (could of been the sodium from all the soup i have had also) My wisdom teeht need to be pulled so I am having a hard time eating but itis getting better. |
Barbara~sorry, didn't get your post in time--back from my oil change already. It only took an hour. They washed my car, too, but did a lousy job on the windows. I hate when they do that. And it didn't need washing, I just paid to have it washed Sunday and it was only a little dusty. Oh, well. I guess I'll just redo the windows this afternoon. Oh, and yes, it was hard not eating more of the pasta!
ChocBroc~you're doing great with the exercise! WTG. Oh, have any of you read any of the posts by archy? She is so totally funny! Check the support forum--she's done two that are worthy of publishing! |
Thanks for all the encouraging words about reaching my weight loss goal. Now the tough part comes...keeping it off.
Swing dancing was a lot of fun last night - and it's DH who gets us to go, not me! He got hooked on partner dancing when we were on the cruise ship for 4 months in 2005 and again when he visited me for 3 weeks when I was on for another 4 months in 2006. He's taken almost a year more of dance lessons than I have, but it's hard for the 'leader' to learn the moves than the 'follower'. They don't call them guys and girls or men and women because in NYC and Philly, anyone might decide to lead anyone else. DH said he really doesn't like it when his follower is a guy. Did the floor exercises this am and turned on the Comcast dance channel and did 30 minutes of low impact. So, I'm doing really well into my 3 week on this forum and working the plan. |
Darn, Allison, my car could really use a washing too! I keep hoping it will rain (I always say that God washes my car ;) ).
4 kids, 5 kids, I can't even imagine one. It's all I can do to take care of the plants (I swear, it's always "water me, water me,)--it never ends). I am not doing so well today. I'm going to have to post a bad confession in that thread. I think maybe I need to add 100 calories to my daily total. It just seems like I've been so hungry lately. |
I can do kids, plants..............well thats another story lol
|
Good evening ladies. Haven't been here in a few days. Just trying to keep my head above water with working & sleeping! I am on vacation starting on the 22nd though. It is spring break for my high school son but we aren't going anywhere because there are tennis matches all week with his high school team. Not sure who scheduled that but it's no big deal I will love just being at home!
Allison-my son was out in Palm Springs yesterday for a match. I didn't get to go but he did very well:D cvquilts-Your story is amazing! What alot to overcome. In reply to your questions about Curves, I do like it & have been going for 3 years (which is much longer than I've kept with anything else so I'm afraid to quit going!). You cannot add weight to the machines. I believe they are hydraulic (?) but you can work harder on them and that is what so many people there don't seem to do. There is alot of talking going on (and believe me, I love to talk and I do but I also work out hard) and then people wonder why they don't get results! :dizzy: :welcome: to everyone and :bravo: cvquilts on making goal! I've got to go and get in the shower and go to bed. I have 3 more regular nights of work and then 2 overtime nights and then no work for 10 nights!!! Talk to everyone later. Jane |
Thanks for the pat on the back alinnell... I needed it. I actually got to go to the gym this evening. BIL picked up my nephew early so I didn't have wait for my husband. However, I noticed doing cardio in the evening is a lot harder for me that in the morning. I had some bad cramps under my rib cage tonight. I only did 15mins tonight because it hurt so bad. I do a full 30 in the morning.
BluetoBlue yup 5!! For me it's hard. My two oldest are my step daughters and the other three girls are mine. Yes... all GIRLS!! They are all under one roof 365 days a year! 12, 10, 8, 3 and 3months. All going through different phases. The hardest thing is the organization and trying to get them to pick up after themselves. They have me wanting to eat all the pudding cups some days with a couple stiff drinks!!! It's all worth it though |
Hey all!
Welcome to the newbies! I hate how if I miss one day on here I've missed a tonne of stuff! I read back a couple pages though, so I'm mostly caught up. I have to say ChocoBroc 5 kids is A LOT (to me anyway, but I'm young and have no plans of having kids in the near future... and can't imagine having one right now.), so it's totally understandable that it would be difficult for you. Especially with the range in ages among yours. Alright, I have a confession. This has been a horrible week for me eating wise. And the reasons are pretty simple: lack of sleep stress Since friday night last week I haven't had over 6 hours of sleep. I have a feeling my average is around 5 and a half. So I feel tired all the time, and my body just craves SUGAR. And then I eat a lot of bad carbs, so my body feels even worse, b/c I have like 30minutes of energy and then... nothing. Ugh, plus I've probably eaten like a million calories every single day. I haven't been recording them, although I've still been recording the foods I eat. I'm stressed out for my midterm tomorrow, and I had a bad Wednesday because I had to find people to take my shifts at work next week so that my Friend can visit this weekend, and my brother can visit the next. It's been so draining. Anyway, sorry to unload here. I just hope that tomorrow my measurements are a maintain of last week's because I definitly can't hope for a loss. |
CLVQUILTS:
:carrot: :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: :bravo: :cp: :cp: :cp: :cp: :cp: CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! That is so awesome!!! I'm an avid swing dancer, ever since I started losing weight. I do lindy and west coast and LOVE it. I'm even good at tricks now, like sliding through your partners legs. I'm hoping to join a performance team soon. It takes me a long time to drop a pound now - it seems I go about 1/4 pound per week - so much different from when I was much heavier. You've inspired me!!! |
Yuppie Girlie - swing dancing eh? Sounds FANTASTIC! :D
I'm nicely tired from kickboxing, but not too tired. I have a day of sitting at my desk planned today, then I'm going to get to the gym probably, hopefully. Then I'm going to go food shopping and get a load of grub for some nice recipes I found online yesterday when I was looking for an apple jam recipe. Scales seem to be on my side at the moment, which is nice :) we shall see what happens tomorrow... :crossed: |
Good morning everyone! weighed myself this morning and lost another pound, I'm very happy! Just waiting for the snow storm to arrive. The only thing that stinks is I will have to drive home in it. Everyone have a great day!
|
I just weighed in here at work (we do a biggest loser contest) and I am down a total of 10 lbs !!! That is only 2 for the week but hey I'll take it :)
