Gee Suse, I wish there were times when I didn't want to eat. I think I could eat while watching a post-mortem, or sitting on a rubbish heap or on a roller-coaster!
How abouts you have that protein-powdery coffee you were discussing? Or a shake, so that it's like a drink but you're getting calories? |
We nurses just about make people puke at lunch in the cafeteria. "Oh yes, he had a huge poop this morning." Munch munch munch ... the housekeeping gals turn green!
I can do the shake thing a little later. Maybe I should make one the night before and just pull it out of the fridge and start sipping first thing. I'm off the shake bandwagon right now and hadn't really thought much about it. Thanks Jen! |
Carey- Have a wonderful time in Montreal, we did just get a bunch of snow, that will be a big switch from all the rain.
2frustrated- Hope that toe isn't broken and it's feeling better soon. Ilene- Wish they would cancel something here but in Montreal they never cancel anything! I guess because it's Quebec they think we should tough it out. So school as usual today. Well, I weighed in and I lost 2lbs! I'm so happy, it's always shocking to see that exercise and cutting calories actually works! So my next weigh will be thursday. I'm going for another 1lb. I felt this horrible feeling of guilt when I got on the scale and I realized that I ate some chocolates and my SO brought some chips home last night and I had a few.. I did stop at a few though. Also, today is a gym day and I'm not going because I have to walk there and the snow is insane and hasn't been cleared off the sidewalks yet. I will go tomorrow for sure, but what can ya do. Thanks for the support Dana |
Morning Dana! Stopping at a few is key! You did good!

Hey Everyone,
Hope all is well for you guys. I am trying to do a project, but procrastinating by simultaneously tracking in fitday and dailyplate to see which I like more! (Am new to all this cal counting, still keeping on with Weight Watchers but I like tracking my eating, fitness, seeing the charts etc too... Makes me eat better!) SO! I have a wierd question which is confusing even me as I try to write it! When you guys say that you have, for example, 1400 calories a day... is that the amount you eat, or the amount for the day after you've factored in exercise (therefor eating more)? Am sure i sound so stupid, sorry! It's just yesterday I ate just over 1500, but ran and swam... and when I tallied it all up, subtracting etc, my total for the day was around 1000 which sounds very low! thanks very much for helping a Newbie to the calorie thing... ask me about points and I'm your woman (esp if it's 'what are the lowest point choc bars!') Have a good day |
Hey Carobelle, I try to eat 1400 cal a day and I don't minus the exercise, it's like extra loss. I'm not sure what everyone else does.
Susan, thanks for the encouraging words. |
You are very welcome!
Carobelle ... There are no stupid questions. Knowledge is power in the food and exercise world. And if you need to know (to sort out your own plan) it's an important question. When I say I had 1600 cals yesterday ... that's what I ate. Like Dana said, exercise is like bonus burning ;) I think some of the calorie counters work with deficits. But it's really hard to figure calorie usage accurately. It'll drive you bonkers. |
Thanks so much Dana and Susan!
So I think for a while I'll aim to be eating around 1500 (not too obcessive), do exercise etc and see what the scales have to say about it! Today is NOT going well, stress over my project means I am slipping into old habits... just ate a freddo without even noticing it or savouring the flavour, just kinda shoved him in! Oh, in case you don't know, a Freddo is a 25g choc frog they sell indivdually at the corner stores... great size for a treat without the worry of 'finishing off the rest of the packet!'... ANYWAY.. will stop that as of NOW! I like having a chocolate treat but it's a waste if I don't even remember eating it (cos my hips sure don't forget!) Cheers, Caro |
Calories: What I say I ate, is what I eat I don't go into all the details of deficits etc... gives me a headache ....
Lotsa snow here :snowfight: (cute guys eh? ) Dana -- way to go on the 2# :high: Just back from the gym with a quicky leg workout :strong: I had already done legs on Monday so it was just an added bonus day of calorie burning... NO running tonight at -30*c windchill you'd have to be  to go out there... The wind and drifts are really blistery ... I work today, nothing was cancelled, I hope the drive into work is ok, ugh, I hate driving far in this weather... but I have to go because we are having a training session on something this afternoon  ... After eating too much the :goodscale: stayed the same this morning  .... Back on track today!! Later all I have to shower at get to work... TTFN  |
Chocolate frog? What will they think of next!!! BTW, eat 1500, then exercise to get it down to 1000, is called a calorie deficit. Somewhere around here is a better explanation than that, but that's it in a nutshell. Good luck with your project.
Dana~congrats on the 2 pounds! Susan~bodily functions don't gross me out. What does kill my appetite is when gunmen open fire on innocent people (SLC, UT 2 days ago--my hometown). That just makes me sick. |
I'm popping in again. I just feel the need to have a nearly perfect day and I think I can do that today ... especially if I keep in touch here.
|
:cp: You CAN do it, I know you can :D
|
DS went to get the mail and I thought I might be off the hook for outdoor walking (ccccolddd) but I need tomatoes for my chicken curry experiment. So ... more cardio.
|
Nyyyyyyyyeeeeeeeeeerg! :stress: There's a huge tray of muffins in the kitchen  I'm resisting, I am I am. Only half an hour to go till home time so no time really to eat one is there?
|
Jen~you can do it! Just walk past the muffins. I read this just a few minutes ago--perhaps it will help you: 10 grams of carbohydrates in the form of squishy white bread will actually contribute more calories than 10 grams of carbohydrates in the form of fiber-enriched whole-grain bread because of the indigestibility of the fiber. Now you know why you shouldn't eat that muffin!
