Thanks to all for your considered responses.

Mami, I've just logged on to apologise to you but you got another post in first! I re-read my first post and it doesn't make it clear at all so your post was understandable although I felt you were having a bit of a go hence the snappishness of my own post. No long term harm done I hope.

Shelby - you're becoming a regular lifesaver and you've summed up exactly how I feel.

I am so glad that so many of you understand (and agree) that a school re-union's a mare and that being overweight makes it worse. I think the reason that weight is an issue is confidence - lack thereof. I have a weird school history and i don't propose to bore you with it but I wish I didn't have to go.

As I am going I've decided there's nowt for it but to take Blue's advice and treat it as an opportunity. The actual event itself I'll treat as a wedding - run as fast as possible in the opposite direction when people bring out more than one baby photo :)

Anyway, I am really grateful to all of you who took the trouble to respond and having put such thought into those responses. Sometimes it helps to know you're not a freak and the only one who feels that way.

Thanks Dougnut. I must say I find it upsetting when I post something to be nice and encouraging and the person thinks I'm "having a go" at them; this happened once before on here and I just wonder why people automatically think you're saying something to be mean when you're just not coming from a mean place at all.

Oh hon please don't worry - I was upset by the situation and took you wrong AT THE TIME. It's like Shelby said (and it was her post that made me go back to read what I'd said to you) you can't always get across in writing in the same way you would in a spoken conversation.

Thanks for your support
