I am scared...

  • to add in other food from phase 2. I am on my second day and I am still eating the detox way. I dont want to gain back the pounds. Has anyone else ever felt this way? I worked hard to get those pounds off. I have upped my exercise and should be able to add fish or chicken but I am afraid to. I thought I wouldnt have any trouble but I guess I was wrong.

  • Hey Crystal!

I felt the same way. It took me a while to eat meat again. We generally only eat phase 2 on the weekends. I might throw in an ounce of cheese every once in a while. But, for the most part... I eat phase 1 foods. I think if you gradually add food back in.. you should be fine. I am happy with the way I am eating and I don't feel deprived at all. Oh, yeah..I did add my CF diet drinks back. That was the first thing. lol. I have two a day. Dr. Ian suggests going back to phase 1 a couple of days a week.

Just do it slowly. If you don't add some meat, you may become burned out with the phase 1 foods and give up.

  • ok, I went to the store and bought some tuna, salmon, white fish and chicken tenders (not breaded). I am going to try and eat meat 2X's a week and keep the rest phase 1. I love dr. Pepper but I hate diet pop so I have decided not to reintroduce that. I had a 4 oz. cup of coffee last night before I went to bed and I didnt sleep a wink . I used to drink a pot before bedtime. I wont do that again. I am going to try and stay salt and butter free. I am so label conscious now, it took me an hour at the store for $40.00 worth of groceries.

  • I won't have that problem! I need more variety. I'm not a fish person but I think I'll also start with fish on Phase II since it is so light. Then a little chicken.

I've never considered myself a cheese lover but I've actually been missing just a little cheese. I was going to make a Phase I refried bean recipe but know I won't like it that much without just a little sprinkle of cheese. So I'm going to wait until Phase II for that.

What I'm really looking forward to is the cold cereal. I've always enjoyed cereal before but I think it'll taste better than ever after detox. Phase II is very much anticipated by me and I won't mind being on it for the ride to Phase III.
  • I want some refried beans. what do you guys suggest?

Hi Judy I LOVE cheese and I have a hard time just eating a slice so I am not going to introduce that yet. I did buy a wedge of fresh ungrated Parmesan cheese but I havent used it yet. I had cold cereal this morning with my fat free skim milk and let me tell you, IT WAS GOOD!!! I ate Smart Start and I really liked it. I love the oatmeal and grits too. Good Luck to you and SMASH that FAT!

  • I'm feeling exactly the same way - today is my first day of phase 2. I didn't have a problem with my grape nuts and milk (since I've been adding milk to my oatmeal anyhow so it's not too far outside my comfort zone), but I took out some chicken breasts to thaw and I'm actually nervous about it!

Cheese, too, is my downfall - just about my favorite snack in the world is a rye cracker with a slice of extra sharp cheddar - or three!

I've decided to stay off the coffee and soda. I don't really need them anymore - I love my sparkling water and I can't remember the last time I've slept this well. I was a typical 4-5 hour a night person and since starting fat smash I sleep 8 hours a night, easy. It does wonders for my attitude in the morning!
  • Rachel, I'm happy about the opposite effect of my sleeping. I'm a night owl & usually don't make it to bed until 1-2:00 a.m. Then I sleep until 10-11:00 a.m. or until my granddaughter wakes me up. Since about day 3 or 4 of detox I'm still going to bed at the same time but am getting up a little before 9:00 a.m. which means I must be getting more sleep (I'm a very light sleeper & normally have trouble falling asleep) or a deeper sleep or both.
  • I felt the same way about Phase II.

But luckily I decided that I cannot eat Phase I forever and need to find a way of eating that is a lifestyle.

Phase II week one I lost 3 more pounds!

I ate a small piece of meat almost every night, and cheese too! I also eat the cereal in the morning.

This Phase feels more like something that I can do forever. 3 pounds a week is a great loss, and something that you can maintain. If you lose weight to fast...you are at a higher risk for gaining it back.

Dont be scared of Phase II its so wonderful! I feel so fufilled and I can actually go out and chose something from a resturaunt!

I actually cant wait for Phase III
