Day One, and a question already!
It's my first day too, AuntieCiCi.
I have a question that I've mailed to Dr. Smith. Whilst I'm awaiting the answer, I thought I'd see what your opinions are. :^: What do you think to Brown Rice Farina during phase 1? It's 100% whole grain brown rice, and I like it as a bit of a change from long grain. I'd appreciate your thoughts, ladies. :thanks: |
Welcome, Cici and Dishy Fishy! This is a great plan! I like it because it is almost all whole foods!
|
Welcome to the newbies! This was day 8 for dh and I. Tomorrow is the last day. I have been SOOO hungry today. I haven't had any issues with hunger up until today. I am eating the same amount as usual and I am drinking water like crazy. I don't know what the problem is. I am anxious to add some chicken or fish to my menu.
Talk to you all later, Sherry |
I made it!
Thru Day 1, that is. I've got to admit, though, it got a bit rough last night. I bet I caught myself opening the snack cabinet 3 or 4 times without even realizing it - just out of sheer habit! Not to mention going to the fridge for who knows what - a piece of bologna or maybe a slice of cheese. And I wasn't even hungry - just habit! But I'm VERY proud to report that I didn't fall off plan ONCE! I grabbed an apple and headed right out of the kitchen for the evening. And even better, I mustered up all the courage I could find this morning and got on my scale - 152.8. I was very pleasantly suprised. Considered the TOM thing, I expected it to be 157 or worse. My goal is to get down to 147 or lower by October 4th - I've got my pre-op Doctor's appointment then. Something tells me I'll hit that goal out of the park! Ultimately, if I can get back down to the low 140's, I'd be SSSSOOOOO happy! 1 day down, a lifetime to go!

Welcome AuntieCiCi, I just ended phase one and on day 6 after I went through withdrawls I added back one cup of coffee. Not sure if it affected anything because today I started yes TOM and I also am scared to get on the scale so I am waiting until maybe tomorrow to check. I am feeeling so bloated. I am going to stay on phase one for another week.
I also agree with WW ( as a former member) I think it is a great program dont get me wrong but the weight loss was beyond slow for me and I got tired of paying them to step on a scale. I also feel everyone on this forum is way more genuine than the group I went to. At least here people own up to their mishaps at my meeting people were to scared to talk about it and then only the ones who were doing well would speak. Good luck on your journey!!! |
speaking of owning up to mishaps....I have had a horrible week!!! I just can not stay on plan! My husband started the FS this week and he is so crabby (especially with the kids) and when I get stressed I eat.
So Starting RIGHT NOW....I VOW not eat JUNK when upset. I will find something else to do, go for a walk, drink some water, eat some green veggies. I am just so dissappointed in myself for falling off plan, I felt so good when eating in phase 1, but now that I am been eating twinkies...I feel like crap. I am hoping tomorrow will be a better day! |
Well I finished the 9 days and am down 7.5 pounds, yeah. And I finally started back to working out last night. Still doing great, no cravings, well some but I am really able to resist, it is cool. I started Phase 2 and can't tell you how awesome my 1 1/2 cups of Special K was this morning, whoo hoo. Have had an apple and my salad for lunch. Problem is I don't have the money to go buy the foods needed on Phase 2, will have to make due with what I have. I have frozen 95% fat free Turkey burger, think that would be ok, I have Tuna. My question and one I have seen answered. Do you have one serving from each sub category per day or can you have two in each or what,,,,very vague...23 pounds to go,,,goal for Thanksgiving and then maintain through the holidays...then another 15 by next summer...whoo

On to day 2....
Hi, Jen! I saw that you'd started the Fat Smash. 8½ pounds is terrific for phase 1, and 7½ for chicks. :woo: I hope I do as well.
I missed my morning coffee yesterday, but not having my afternoon tea was far worse. I made up a peppermint infusion, and tried to convince myself it was just as good. I'm not at all convinced of the need for the detox aspect, but I'm giving it a whirl anyway. I haven't had an answer to my e-mail about the brown rice farina, but I see it's listed in phase 2. I guess I'll have to wait until then. Have a great day, everybody! :carrot: |
Hi everybody! Congratulations on the loss Chicks! :) You too, Jen!
I am 5 days into Phase 2. I have enjoyed adding chicken and cheese into my life again. I have not brought back diet soda. I figure I don't need it. I am back on coffee but just 3 days a week. Mostly I feel like I am still eating mostly Phase 1 food. I walk every morning before work (except for today and I feel it... I will definitely do it tomorrow and Friday). I just feel better physically and mentally when I do it. I drink the water everyday. I've been so busy though that I am eating a piece of fruit as a snack/mini meal whenever I can but it has been inconsistent. Things will get into a better routine and I'll be more "regular" with my eating schedule in the next few weeks. I just wanted to pop in and say that I'm still going along strong in Phase 2. I am looking forward to the scale on Saturday. (can't believe I said that!) :) |
Congrats Carlos and sandi, You both are doing a great job!! My chol and bp was so high before i started my weight loss journey. My numbers are normal now.

Still going strong. Day 3 of Phase 1. However, I've been experiencing a nasty headache over the past 18 hours or so. I noticed in other posts that folks got headaches if they were coffee or soda drinkers and I'm not. I used to be a migraine sufferer, but I started taking Topamax (shrink prescribed for mood stabilization - works like a charm!!) and haven't had one for close to a year now. This just isn't normal for me...
Anyone else run into this? |
Good Morning,
Dh and I finished phase 1 yesterday. I am excited about having baked chicken for dinner. lol. Anyway... Dh lost 11 lbs. and I lost 6! I think we both did well. We are going on to phase 2 for now. I think we will have 2 or 3 days a week where we eat just phase 1 foods. We liked the weight loss and detoxing. Have a great day! |
Hey everyone! I'm still here. I had a slip up yesterday, DH made me ice cream, and I "couldn't" tell him no! Actually, he made it for himself, and I usually resist, but last night it looked so good! I'm still only down 4 pounds (Very upset with this), but I'm sticking to the plan. I FEEL better, and that's what really matters! I'm hoping to get some walking in today. I've been hittinga bout 8-10K steps a day. I really need to hit at least 10K a day!!!

Hey everyone, first day of Phase 2 was fine, no problems. I was kind of worried about adding the cereal (carbs) that my cravings would come back. I am so afraid of sugar now, but I can't be. I mean I haven't cheated yet, but after 11 days I am like well I want to reward myself. Every week a ministry group I am in goes to IHOP for dinner. I haven't had IHOP in a month and really want to just go, eat what I want and then do Phase 1 sat and sun to keep things in line. I don't see a problem, but then I am like, I can resist and I can go to IHOP after I have lost another 22 pounds...thoughts?
CICI the headaches could be from sugar withdrawl and from not eating high fat foods. Even when I added 1 cup of coffee back in I still had one some days. The headache is more likely part of the whole detox or you might not be eating enough........good luck and stick with it... |
