Tara - from what I've seen online about Kimchi, you should be okay to eat it. It seems like the base of it is vegetables and seasoning, which are all allowed in detox. It looked like some of it could be sweet, so you should look to see how it's made. As long as it's just the veggies and seasoning, you should be okay. I did a few searches online (as I'm sure you have, too) to see if it came up in fat smash at all, and I couldn't find anything. Hope this helps, even though I talked in circles!

Thanks Annie!
It uses mainly garlic, ginger, salt, salted fish liquid, and hot pepper(like cayenne) to season. Maybe I will have it but very small amount since it has some sodium... (could be very hard to do since i love love love kimchi. heh)

I hear ya on the why can't it just be easy part. My bf had been together off and on for 5 years and now live in different states and did not get to see each other very often but we were very much in love, or should I say I know I was and he says he was. We just have to accept the distance is too much, I found out he had cheated on me and also during a time we broke up last year he met someone just a brief fling but well last week she had his baby. So yea I have been having a very tough time. We were best friends before we decided to give a relationship a try, I think that's what makes it so difficult to let go. But anyway...

Sounds like everyone is doing good... Day 2 down, 7 more to go YAY! I hope the sleeping gets better for you, Annie, I go through spurts like that too, totally stress related. Tara... I have no idea about the kimchi but to me it sounds ok, but I am no smashing expert. My menu for today was...
B high fiber granola bar and milk
L veggies and 1 cup brown rice
S nuts... almonds cashews
D 1 cup brown rice veggies and beans
S veggie burger and plum

I have class on Tuesday nights so my eating gets a little messed up, can't eat when I want to, I try to eat a lil more during the day so I'm not starving when I get out of class, suppose to be there till 10. Got lucky tonight and got out way early, although that meant I ate more than I normally would, lol... Oh well, stayed on plan that's what matters. That's my issue I have to overcome, I still eat just to be doing something sometimes. I need to learn my hunger cue's better. Well I hope everyone has had a great day and look forward to hearing from you all tomorrow!

Mandy - That is a crazy story. So sorry you have to go through that. I feel bad for even bringing up my little breakup story. We're another day down, which is such a good thing. I have found that the middle days are the easiest. The beginning stinks since you're kind of blasted with what you can't have. Then the middle, you get in your groove. By the end, you're counting the hours until you're allowed more food. At least that's how it is with me.

Tara - how's the kimchi? I want to try it, since you spoke so highly of it. Is it something I can purchase, or do you have to make it yourself?

I could hear the pizza in the house calling my name last night, but I figured it just wasn't worth it. And then I brought my boss a pie today. I would never it admit it to her, but I was actually grossed out by watching her and her husband eating the pizza, since they were eating with their mouths open and making noises, which is one of my pet peeves anyway. They are both on the bigger side (not fat, but bigger); and it clicked in my head that I don't ever want someone thinking these thoughts about me. Maybe I should just stick with the healthy foods, because they just looked so gross. To top it off, her husband (we work out of her house) came into the office with an ice cream cone and was slurping. I kind of decided right there, that's it. I don't ever want to skeeve someone out like the two of them did to me today. How awful is that? They are friends of mine, and I should never treat them like that, but oh my! Let's hope they don't read this thread! Ha. I'm a horrible person, I know.

Hope everyone had a good day...I know I definitely did. Hopefully it will continue!

Lisa - We're always looking for new friends! It doesn't matter how much you have to lose, just take it one pound at a time. Good luck...it seems like you're off to a great start!

Hey ladies... Another day down YAY!... Today went well, eating is basically the same as the past couple days
B Granola bar and milk
L rice and veggies
S apple
S nuts
D rice, veggies, and beans
S grapes

Annie, I'm awful too cause I think the same things when people eat, even my family. I have some major pet peeves about people and eating. I always thought it stemmed from just being self conscious really. But I must say it was great to hear someone else thought it. I'm really not a mean person, just don't like to hear people eat and what not.

Welcome Lisa! We are glad you joined us... I myself am 29, I have one son whom I raise alone and I live in southern Illinois. I am looking to lose at least 70 lbs.

Lisa! Doing this with 4 children! Wow... I have a high respect for you. Also, the 2 cups of brown rice is cooked rice, I believe. If it was 2 cups of uncooked rice, it would be too much of rice... :P

Annie, I don't think you need to feel bad about it just because you felt that way about your friends. I know it wasn't like you were being disrespectful towards them. I also feel the same way when people sit and eat fried chicken one after another, and then have some rich chocolate as dessert. At lease we made a healthy choice and we are keep doing it. That's what matters the most. =)

I used to be able to post way more often but now that I'm not really "allowed" to go on websites other than for work, I don't get to get on here that often.
I'm about to go back to sleep..so I don't have the menu planned for today yet. I went to sleep at 530 am and had a training for work at 8 am for an hour. I just finished the training, and thought I might as well stop by here and say hi to my ladies.

Yesterday:
B: oatmeal smoothie with skim milk, oatmeal, strawberry, and banana
L: veggie soup with brown rice, all kinds of veggies, black bean, veggie broth
S: cherry
D: veggie soup and salad
S: fat free yogurt with blueberries

I've been on plan now for 3 days and hopefully it will go well today...as I'm used to getting Thai food at work on Thursdays with my TL and coworkers. Good luck ladies!

If there is any Korean market(unless you live in a real small town, there is one near you, believe me. :P) you can go there and ask them for a jar of kimchi... They even have a small packet of kimchi which can be eaten probably in one or two meals... I also saw kimchi at Super Walmart in a small jar... :P If you like spicy stuff, give it a try!

Hey ladies... I just can not get motivated today...
I have stayed on plan, just need to move, go for a walk, something. I haven't exercised near enough. Hopefully after dinner, my son and I can go walk, well he'll ride his bike or scooter, but that helps me keep the pace up

Also, I'm already thinking about the weekend, I have two events this weekend, first my best friends birthday and a bunch of us are going out to eat then probably out for drinks. We never all do anything together anymore so I hate not to go. But I am afraid I won't be able to resist temptation... Any suggestions? The second event is the next day at my parents we are celebrating father's day a week late because we were all out of town last weekend. My mom has already warned me what she is cooking is not "diet" friendly. I asked her to just make sure there was salad and veggies and I'll be good. Guess we will see, but I know the other food, especially dessert will be soooo tempting.

Hope everyone is having a great day!

Hey, ladies! I'm doing well with the eating, but I just can't get motivated to work out. So bad. I know that it's definitely part of it. But, since I'm not working out, it is helping with out with not wanting to cheat. I figure I can't mess it up on both counts.

Tara - thanks for much for the info. I live in a very diverse area (Philly), so I'm sure I can find it. I hope it wasn't too hard today with everyone getting Thai food

Mandy - I have definitely been in your position while detoxing before, and I found that if I told everyone I was the designated driver, then it forces me to not drink. As for the food, order something on the plan -- look online ahead of time if you know where you're going, so you don't even have to open the menu and get tempted -- and then keep chewing gum. The stronger the better, since it won't make you want to keep eating anything else. It's not foolproof, but it's definitely helped me out in those situations.

Lisa - that's funny about your lentils. Maybe you should try some other beans instead of lentil, so you're not feeling like you're lentiled out.

Today I tried a few different things, and they weren't all successful, but it was variation, which definitely keeps me on track:
B - black cherry yogurt, banana
L - boca burger (vegan) with lettuce, tomato, black beans and pickles and sweet potato fries. (Everyone was planning on having hot dogs today, so I wanted to feel like I wasn't a weirdo, which didn't help anyways. The burger wasn't the best, but the sweet potato fries are ALWAYS great!)
S - fruit salad (grapes, blueberries & watermellon
D - brown rice, black beans, corn, a little hot sauce and a small amount of low fat ranch dressing to make it a bit creamy. Yummy!

Annie-I don't know if you read this on the other thread but I tried the rice with the ranch dressing-YUMMMMMMY! I don't know if I'll ever eat the rice without it again...LOL. It made it creamy, just like you said. I got some corn and some 100% natural salsa so I can make the black bean/corn combo you talked about too. You've got some great ideas, girl!

Glad to hear y'all are doing good!

Kara - Thanks! It's been a long year of trying to learn how to be healthy and going back on and off this plan, so I've found a few ways to get through it. But as you can see...I'm back to detoxing, so it hasn't always been good ideas. Ha ha!

Next week I'm going to try to start trying out new seasonings to spice things up...I know spices can go such a long way, so hopefully I'll have more to report next week.
