Portion Quantity of Beans
Is there a portion limit/size to beans? I'm starting phase 1 on Wednesday and want to make sure I really know not only what I should be eating, but of how much I should be eating. I see there's portion quantities on certain foods, but I wasn't sure if there was one on beans that I didn't notice in the book. Thanks!

Beans may be "self-limiting"!
I really don't know, Stacy, but it occurs to me that the question may take care of itself, depending on how well you body can handle the gas issue! :D
I have been using really well- rinsed cans of my favorite beans...like black beans and garbanzo (chick peas) along with hominy and sweet corn and lots of different colored peppers ..all thrown in with Basmati brown rice and salsa, and not worrying about quantity..there is so much fiber in that combination that portion control takes care of itself....:smug: The stuff really fills me up......oatmeal really does too....when I do a phase I day really close to program, I am getting 1300 to 1400 calories and more than 35 gms. of fiber.....that is a smashing good day! |
yea i think its more of a self-limiting type thing...i usually eat about 1/4 or 1/2 cup dependong on the time of day...early in the day i will do about 1/2 cup...later in the day i always try to eat smaller portions just cause its late and i dont want any food just sitting around in the stomach since its not being burned up from the rest of the day...

In ESF he tells you either a whole cup or half cup whenever you have to eat them. Maybe that'd be a standard to go by
