Default Proud of myself moment ...

okay this isn't a huge accomplishment by World standards but for me it was BIG ... After swim lessons this morning, my daughter asked for a Snickers - she hardly ever eats candy so I said okay. When I got her one, I REALLY REALLY wanted one for my self ... and I thought about it, I hate to admit ... BUT, I resisted and didn't get one for myself. AND, when my daughter only ate half of hers and offered me the rest, I told her "thanks but no"

I actually really surprised myself. The old me would have eaten my Snickers and whatever remained of my daughters. For me, this really shows how great I'm feeling on this eating plan (I'm not calling it a diet anymore because I see it as a very long term plan).

Like I said, not a life changing accomplishment in terms of the World - but, I guess you could say it was a "life changing" accomplishment for me

I just wanted to share because you all are so supportive. Why don't you all share your "proud of myself moments"? I think it would be inspiring to all of us.

That is awesome!

My sister just called me and wanted to drop off two pieces of my favorite cheesecake (my biggest weakness) and I said "no thanks, I'm on a plan. Can't eat that stuff".

A month ago I would have told her to bring me the entire cheesecake because two pieces would have just been an appetizer.

Good for you Lexi!! I love cheesecake too so I understand the temptation - I'm proud of you for resisting.

My new motto is "Just as together all the bad choices in eating move the scale up, so will all the GOOD choices move the scale down" I try to think about that for each eating choice I make. And, it helps that I've lost 5 or so pounds at this point. I'm only on the beginning of Day 4 Phase I but I couldn't resist the temptation to weigh ... and it actually gave me motivation to make a good choice so I'm not beating myself up about it :0)

Good for you both!!
I have a moment like this a few days ago when we had guests over and they asked for my "famous" bread dip. It is made with mayonnaise and sour cream and then eaten with sour dough bread. Needless to say it is delicious, but absolutely NOT on the diet.
Usually when I am trying to diet I will "taste test" atleast 6 pieces, but this time I did not have ANY! Not even the tiniest bite, test or crumb. It took everything I had but I sat with them and ate a small cup of berries instead.

You were right Janzie, it does feel good to share

Coco - You go Girl! I think the sharing will be fun and it inspires me to make good choices. Because when faced with a choice, I think "well, <fill in name> had a temptation like this and she resisted ... so can I"

I know what you mean about "taste testing". I have tended to do that a lot for things I've made my daughter and I've tended to clean her plate when she is finished. I'm doing my best to stop both habits. I mean I'm not helping a starving person in a foreign country by eating her leftovers. You know what I mean?

Good for us all!

Janzie and Coco, are you one Extreme Fat Smash or Regular Fat Smash? I'm on EFS and on day 3 of week 3.

Coco, I love spinach dip with pumpernickel bread. I can't just have a taste of that. It's all or nothing.

I just love anything that's rich and creamy.

Something I've been eating to curb my creamy sweet tooth:

A jello refrigerated fat free vanilla pudding cup with a squirt of chocolate syrup and a little shot of cool whip.
Ok, so it's not exactly 100 calories but not much over AND
it tastes like you're eating a chocolate sundae.

Congratulations on the small, yet big victories, ladies!

I'm so glad that you started this thread Janzie. Like many poeple of my generation, I was always taught that telling others of your accomplishments is snooty . Well, the with that! I'm pretty proud of how I'm doing on FS, and need a place to let others know about it where they "get it"!

Here's mine:
Yesterday I started to fall into the old pattern of running late, so going through the drive-thru at McD's . After going back and forth in my little pea brain, I even went so far as to get in line at the window. The line was pretty long, so it made me think more. Thank goodness the driveway doesn't have curbs, 'cause I took a hard right and got myself right out of that line before I got to the microphone! (I almost heard the screech of tires! )

Just smelling the greasy fries surrounding the place made me think of all that I'd be giving up, or else it curbed the craving - I'm not sure. Either way, I went home and made a salad!

Keep up the will power everyone!

I know the feeling of something that seems insignificant, but is really a big step in the right direction! I've been avoiding the brownies in the cube behind me all day.

Way to go everybody!

congrats to all!!! Janzie little moments like that aren't so little..they are actually great! because think about rejecting a snickers or any other type of food once, and then 2 times, 8 times...etc...you're well on your way..now reverse it and picture eating 8...not good!

Well my proud moment right now would be tell my friend that when we go to Cedar Point (an amusement park in Ohio...in case anyone doesn't know) that I am bringing my own lunch and not eating any of their fast food. She then agreed and will be bringing her own too! I'm not putting off my plan for anything!! Small days like that hinder progress we can't just say "oh it's only one day" ...I'm definetly off of that excuse!

Hey y'all....awesome stories...wtg everyone!!!

Ok here's my story...Today I started back on the FS diet (went off it about 7 mos ago) But I woke up this morning committed to keeping with it. I went to the store to get some more fruit and veggies and my son begged for donuts...they smelled incredible...I got them for him when we got home instead of even touching them to get them out of the box to avoid getting my fingers sticky I told my son to pick out his own donuts and put it on the plate...not a major accomplishment but took ALOT of will power on my part...donuts are my weakness but NOT today!!! hehe

I'm so excited that you all are sharing. It really helps me to hear your stories. Whenever we resist our favorite "not so good for you" food, we win a battle - win enough battles and you've won the war!

Adding to what musictchr said, I think we are all taught to down play our successes because we don't want to "brag". But, you know, we all deserve to be able to share our successes - like I said, it may not change the World at large but your little successes will change your World ... and that matters. And, it's nice to be able to tell someone who understands the struggle and just how great resisting a food temptation is.

WAY TO GO to EVERYONE!

Please keep sharing,
Janzie

WTG everyone! I am so glad to know that I am not the only one who celebrates the little things!
Lexie042 - I am currently on my last day of cycle 2 of EFS. In phase 1 I lost 5.5 lbs, and on phase 2 I have lost another 1.5 lbs. I had a feeling that I would slow down during the second phase.
I do find myself skipping some of the meals sometimes, but I NEVER skip a day without the exercise
Good luck to all and congrats on your achievements!

Coco you're ahead of me but maybe I'll catch up one day soon Congrats on great results so far.

Now that I'm 42 and quit smoking it's a struggle to lose even an ounce. I've got two strikes against me...my age and my metabolism slowing right down due to not smoking anymore. I was at a plateau for 4 months before I found EFS and the scale started moving down again.

They didn't lie when they told me that it's harder to lose weight when you're over 40. Now every time I lose one ounce, it's cause for celebration.

I've had a few proud of myself moments. My boyfriend and I went to Olive Garden on a trip out of town and I didn't touch the bread sticks, asked for the salad dressing on the side so I could use it sparingly and had the Minestrone soup, which had a little bit of noodles- but I ate around them! If I can resist Italian food, especially because we don't have an Olive Garden in my town so we have to drive an hour...I know I gotta be doing pretty well. Also, went to a friend's the other night and he was making chocolate chip cookies and I said "No, thank you" without thinking twice! I have to say the hardest thing that I've had to give up are peanut butter shakes from one of our local drive-ins..I just get the biggest cravings for them!
