Looking for advice about the fat smash diet

  • Hello! I am considering going on the fat smash diet but I have a major concern. I am about 225 lbs right now and I am only 5'4". I'm afraid that if I go on the diet and lose alot of weight I will be left with a bunch of sagging skin that would require surgery to remove, also I worry that I will lose weight in my breasts and would need some kind of reconstruction on them as well (my suggested BMI is 111-146 lbs which I think is way too small for me. I would be thrilled just to get down to 175 again.) I was wondering if anyone here has lost the weight and been left in a similar situation. Also what types of exercises do you all do? I have two small boys so I am constantly trying to keep up with them and housework and such. I can't run, or jump due to permanent damage to my right knee but I do like to walk. Right now I just feel torn on whether or not to even try the diet but I know if I can lose some weight I will get more use from my bad leg and I just want to be healthy for my hubby and our boys!! Any advice will be greatly appreciated! Wendy
  • Hi, welcome to 3FC

A lot of people have those concerns, you aren't alone We have a new forum just for this type of issue called Body Image and Issues after Weight Loss. There's a sticky post at the top of that forum all about sagging skin and what we can and can't do about it. It's a very helpful post, please read it if you get a chance

    Good luck!
  • Hi Wendy - I've just started FS, so I don't have any experiences with the issues you've raised. I expect, though, that by the time I meet my goal, I probably will have sagging skin and breasts! Even if everything sags, I figure that not carrying around the extra weight will be worth the unsightly sags. I'd rather be alive with saggy skin than dead at a young age because of weight related issues. Besides, won't we be drop-dead gorgeous!?

    Good luck!
  • Thank you soo much for the nice welcomes! I have had self esteem issues my whole life and I know that losing the weight to get healthy so that I can play more with my boys is the right thing to do but the idea of surgery scares me and truth be told I am weak when it comes to food. I eat whenever I am upset and I'm not sure I will be able to stay true to the diet but I like that it seems to be a forgiving one! Wendy
