Hi!
I started the fat smash diet last month but only did the 9-day detox (not strictly). I needed to lose weight fast for my holiday, and it worked! Since I've been back home, I haven't quite got around to restarting the diet. That said, doing the detox phase seems to have been enough to kick start me into healthy eating. I felt so good on the diet, and had so much energy (except when I actually needed to do the 30 mins of cardio, which proved reasonably hard-going with no sugar in my system). Now, I just eat more fruit and vegetables, much less meat and sweets. I think I've plateaued, but I'm going to start working out this week so we'll see.
Anyway, I found this forum brilliant in terms of meal ideas. It kept me interested, and during the 9 days I got the chance to experiment with different types of foods I wouldn't normally have eaten. I practically lived on callaloo (Caribbean vegetable dish), curries and mediterranean vegetables. I made leek and sweet potato patties yesterday, and they are truly delicious, so I thought I'd share the recipe with you guys.
Ingredients:
900g/2lbs sweet potato
oil spray/olive oil
2 medium leeks, trimmed and finely chopped
1 garlic clove, crushed
1 inch piece fresh ginger, finely chopped
200g/7oz can sweetcorn
2 tbsp unsweetened yoghurt
salt and pepper
Method:
1. Peel potatoes, cube and boil for 10-15mins. Drain, mash and leave to cool.
2. Saute leeks and ginger for 2-3mins in small amt of oil.
3. Stir into potato with sweetcorn.
4. Add yoghurt.
5. Form into patties.
6. Chill for 30 mins.
7. Place on pre-heated grill rack (broiler) and lightly brush with oil.
8. Grill (broil) for 5 mins. Turn over, brush with oil, grill for further 5 mins.
The original recipe called for the patties to be tossed in flour before chilling, but I amended it for fat smash.
Hope you try this and enjoy it. They taste really good with a chilli dip or ginger sauce. These will have to be homemade though as a lot of store-bought ones have added sugar.
