I am psyched!

Hi everyone,

I have been checking out this site for a little while now. I have had success with Adkins, but for reason you will see below that is not an option at this point. I have also tried everything else like the rest of you. However...2 weeks before Christmas my sister was diagnosed with stomach cancer. This actually is my SECOND sister with stomach cancer. In addition, I have a brother and a sister with colon cancer. It is freaky! I am the youngest of 8and often wonder....is this my fate too??? My second sister had 75% of her stomach removed on Dec 26th. Long term prognosis for stomach cancer is very, very poor. I started surfing the web - I knew there had to be something else out there beside chemo and radiation. I started reading all of these sites about nutrition. Prior to this I knew if you didn't eat well you'd gain weight, have high blood pressure etc...but never really had a true appreciation for healthy eating. I have learned a ton! Based on family history, I had a colonscopy and a stomach scope on Dec 28th. All is well. In addition, the prep broke that "holiday eating " binge. Due to my circumstances I have been eating fresh fruit and only chicken or turkey. I already don't crave the junk food. I am a little disappointed that I haven't lost much weigh tyet- I haven't eaten this healthy in ages! However, this diet may be just what I am looking for! I do very well on diet for which there few choices. I'm not much of a bean eater, but ha:carrot: :carrot: ve seen posts from others who are not as well. I can do this one!!! Oh- by the way, my grandmother, aunt, mother and sister (before 75% of her stomach was removed) is diabetic. I love that this diet is truly healthy! I'm going to go get the book tomorrow! Does any other new fatsmasher want to be an e-mail buddy?

Bless your heart fatBgone!

I have a good friend who discovered she had cancer and she went on the total "raw" diet. She loves it and seems to be doing well. I can't vouch for it since I have never done it, but the Fat Smash certainly looks healthy to me.

They way I see it, it certainly can't hurt to eat healthy! I am hoping that through this diet I learn to "like" fruits and veggies.

Something that I've come to realize is that after staying away from sugar, a good strawberry nonfat yogurt is so tasty and sweet, it's almost like getting a treat!
