New Years Resolutions

  • I decided to start this thread so we can all learn more about one another and hopefully exchange ideas and info. I know we all probably have the obvious resolutions - lose weight and get healthy, right? But what else? Here are mine because sometimes when I see them in print, I know I can go back to them and often that helps me stay motivated.

Become at least semi-fluent in Spanish. I have been trying to get better for year now. I have enrolled in class that starts in January.

Try to become neater & more organized. I am a total pack rat and throwing things away is tough for me. I am also a total slob so I am going to try harder to pick up my clothes, shoes and other things that tend to pile up around the house.

Get back to jewelry making. I started buying supplies & beads over a year ago and put it all away but I think it is a great hobby.

Try to be a more positive person in all aspects of my life. Even though I am pretty positive most of the time on this site, I am very negative at work and at home. My friend tells me if I think positive, good & positive things will come my way. I need to work on that.

Learn some new things and get out of my comfort zone. I have wanted to learn karate for years so maybe 07 is the year to finally do it. I was also intrigued by Hulakitty & Mary when you mentioned different forms of dance. I have been thinking about taking some bellydancing/tribal dance classes to see if I like it.

I think that's it for me for 2007. Boy, that's a lot on my plate but I can do it!

Lets hear what everyone is else is going to do in 2007! Lem
  • ok, my turn,

of course get healthy and lose weight.........

but also, learn to be with myself......... I have five kids, the oldest is 16 (or as he likes to say starting today, "I will be 18 next year" yikes!) the youngest is 6. I have been a stay at home mom for over 16 years. and although I know I used to have intrests, I can't remember them much. My youngest is in 1st grade and last year and this year. I have been very unorganized. it is like I don't know what to do with myself if I don't have some little kids holding onto my legs! so that is first.

I want to read the bible all the way through. every year I try and then get side tracked about febuary. ( I know genesis real well!). So I want this year to be that

I want to get my house in order and KEEP it there! I have been flying with Flyladay for about 4 years, but I do good for a day and then drop it for a week or two or..........

that should be enough I think.

  • Okay... I am gonna put it in writing.

    1) Obviously... I want to lose 50 lbs.

    2) I want to get organized. I have always had problems with organization. I have all of our important papers in a big box. ):

    3) Learn to love me for who I am. I have a bad habit of comparing myself to others. I never measure up. I just don't like myself.

    4) Be a better mother and wife.

  • OKAY HERE I GO....

    1. SPEND MORE TIME WITH GOD

    2. FIND WAYS TO GET MY DH BUSINESS OUT OF DEBT

    3. PAY DOWN OUR MORTGAGE BY 10 GRAND

    4. START A RETIREMENT ACCOUNT

    5. START A SAVINGS ACCOUNT FOR EMERGENCIES WITH 6 mth SALARY

    6. LOSE 50lbs ATLEAST.

    7. LOVE MYSELF FOR WHO I AM AND NOT WHO I COULD BE.

    8. MAKE NEW FRIENDS.

That's enough and probably why I never make resolutions!!!! LMAO

  • 1. Be a better mom. I'm not a bad mom, but I just feel like I could do better.
    2. Be a better friend. I wish I had more time and the ability to be there for my friends more.
    3. Maintain a 4.0 gpa. I hope to graduate with high honors some day.
    4. Pay off and stay out of debt. Credit cards are my downfall. I intend to pay them off(again) this year and not ring them back up.
    5. Stay a non-smoker. (now on week 8!)
    6. Continue losing weight and sculpting my body.
  • I am going to be better with money and have a hitlist of things to clear first, and a goal for what I want it to get down to by the end of the year, and I am giving up smoking.

7 full days clean so far!
  • The obvious: lose 40 lbs and get back to regular running
    The less obvious:
    Manage stress better
    Quit smoking
Maintain friendships better (this and the first one are directly related to being totally obsessed with work, I should just say worry about work less!)
