Hi... We are going on the Sun Princess. My niece is coming out from Missouri and going with me. We are celebrating my birthday (will be during the cruise) and her college graduation. What did you think of Princess?

Checkin in for March 9, 2006
How is it going at your house? Everything seems to be moving along at its one speed at ours.
Hubby is away to work - not expecting him back till late tonight. Yesterday he put the primer on the living room walls, tomorrow the kitchen gets primed. Then hopefully on Monday we will put the color for the living room and kitchen up - and then the laminated floors for those two rooms. Planning on getting the carpets for the 2 bedrooms next week hopefully and put them down and when they are down the laminate for the hallway can go down. Just the bathroom after that and it is rather small. Then main floor will be done. For the basement primer the walls, new color on the walls and then paint the concrete floor - it is not going to be to difficult as it will be easy enough to put all furniture into middle of room and paint. We are aiming at having all this done by April 1 in order that we can list the house at that time. Little bit scarry as we aren't really sure where we will relocate - but it will more than likely be a rental - and everywhere we check to see about renting says it is a tough market and NO DOGS ALLOWED. But we know of some places that do take small dogs and are trusting in the Lord that when the time comes an opening will happen. Actually there are 2 fourplexes on our cul-de-sac that are 3 bedrooms and we have seen small dogs in there - and 2 times in the past 4 weeks they have adverstised - so am going to look into seeing who owns them and having a look at them - if that is where we moved to we wouldn't need a moving truck as we would be able to carry everything over. I would prefer an end unit though - but will have to take whatever there is until something better comesup I guess. Right now though we have to finish fixing up the house so it will sell. The van is still in the garage - $1,025 to get it out. Waiting for the income tax refund to be sent - was hoping it would be in our bank today but so far no luck. Praying that it will be no later than Monday getting here as we are feeling the pressure of not having a vehicle -actually hubby is really feeling it - it bothers me only when I really need to go out - and when it is not working I don't go I just send hubby to do the chorse down town. Waiting to see if we are going to be able to rent a car to get me to the cancer hospital. As we don't have a credit card it is difficult but in the past they have let us have a car and we just have put up money in advance. But think it is new owners - so we are waiting to here back from the girl that works there that knows us to see if she can 'sweet talk' the owners for us. If it doesn't work then unfortunately I will have to have the exam done here - and I am not really comfortable at our hospital. My doctor that would do the exam is ok - just the doc that puts me out that I am not fond of - he was very uncoth and not nice when I had him last all because I have short neck and he feels he would have difficulty 'tubing' me. In Calgary at the cancer treatment hospital they don't tube me - they put something into the intervenis (spelling) that relaxes me enough to put me to sleep and then they do the 10 min exam - if they do tube me I am not aware of it. But the one here when I had one of the tests done said he needed to tube me - so when I was laying flat on my back and feeling very vulnerable he proceeds to spray my throat with some terrible spray to numb it - it made me gag - and I have a low tolerance to gagging - so he got really annoyed saying 'I guess we are going to have to undo everything and let her get up so she won't gag' - saying it all in a horrid tone of voice like he was really annoyed. He was at the time near my feet and the nurse nicely said - Doc, if it was me on this table I would see if I could kick you as you aren't being very friendly. But if I need to have the test done here I am going to see the specialist first and explain to him how I am concerned re how the one doc handled it last time and maybe the can contact the cancer treatment and find out how they did it. I know when the cancer treatment doc's did it I explained what had happened here and his comment was that the doc here was probably nervouse due to my short throat and me being overweight and having acid reflux. But the doc in Calgary said he saw no problem as they didn't knock me out completely as the test only took up to 10 minutes so they just got me so relaxed that I was not aware of them doing the test. Oh to live in a place with a very ver large hospital at times like this Doing fairly well on my First Place program as far as eating. Am down 2 pounds and am looking for more to be off by next week. I watched The Biggest Loser last night and it got me thinking - my eating is not too bad now - still needs some twigging - but the problem is my lack of activity. I really need to get this up and going in order to burn off more calories. So I am going to be working on walking with my friend for 30 minutes up to 5 days a week and then at home I am going to work at walking to Scripture music and WATPS for a total of 1 hour every day. I am hoping that with that it will help to put a jump start to the weight loss - and if it means I need more than 1 hour to accomplish this then I will see about getting up 1/2 - 1 hour earlier to do so as I do need to get this weight on the down slide. Noticed that the group is somewhat quiet lately - for those MIA - we miss you and would like to see you come back. |
Tracker change
I decided to change my tracker to show my first goal. That way it doesn't seem like such a daunting task to accomplish. When I finally reach below 200 there will be a huge celebration on my side of town.:cp: :dancer: :high:

Hi everyone! I've been one of the guilty MIA Christian encouragers :o so it was about time I stopped by.
Things have been CRAZY!!! Over the weekend I went on a law school visit (UNC Chapel Hill). The campus was the most gorgeous thing I've ever seen, the people were fantastic, and I attended the most charming Episcopal church on Sunday, but I'm not convinced that the law school is the right one for me. I'm not ruling it out, but I'm not sure. It was a wonderful trip, in any case! I have another visit coming up on March 24 and a third one on April 3. I have been accepted to six schools now, but I am down to three in my decision-making process. Then my inlaws were in town for a visit, and we ended up going off to Disney World. Last minute decision. I haven't been in a while, and it was the last chance I (probably) had to go before leaving FL, so it was all good. I rode all my favorite rides, the weather was perfect, and the park wasn't that busy. And tomorrow I have a big school presentation. It's one of the last major milestones before I defend my PhD thesis (whoa, when did that happen?!) so it's pretty important. At 12:00 (when it should be over) I will be celebrating! :woo: Oh, and my mother broke her arm :( :( :( Fell while trying to open a window. She is doing all right. It's just more incovenient than anything. Luckily she has a lot of people around to help her out. So that's all from me. I must go catch up on posts now! :grouphug: Goodnight all! |
Had an extremley stressful day today. Youth group arrived (along with my son he hitched a ride cause his college has gone on strike). Things were going well till we heard water running somewhere. When we checked one of the upstairs bathrooms had over flowed and the water was starting to seep through the ceiling below. I couldn't believe this was happening. Tried to mop up the water. Went and rented a carpet cleaner to suck up the water that had gone through the bathroom wall into my bedroom carpet. This helped some. My husband then decided to call the insurance company and they wanted a company to come in a fix the problem. So now I have huge fans in three rooms, plus dehumidifiers running all weekend. They cut a whole in the ceiling in the family room to let the air get at the wood in the floor above to dry it out. All this has to be done quickly so that the carpet and floors don't get any mould in them. Needless to say the house is now off the market till we can get it fixed up again. I just pray that everything is dry by Monday and that it smells alright. Then we have to find someone to repair the drywall in the ceiling. I just can't believe that this is happening right now.

It's Saturday!!!
I don't have too much planned for today. I'll do a little cleaning and baking. I go get my hair cut this afternoon and I'm so looking forward to that.
Other than that not too much is happening around here. mavnan: How awful for that to happen right now as you're trying to sell your house. Did they figure out what the cause is? I sure hope it gets cleaned up quickly so you can get on with things. My prayers are with you. crk: Six schools?! Wow! That's amazing that you have such choice. How did your presentation go? How long will it take you to write your thesis? Sad about your mom. It's such a pain not to be able to use your hand. Did she break the one she uses the most? Beth: We're joining the party when you reach that 200 milestone. Keep us posted. Sprout: That's a terrible way to be treated by a Doctor. I wish they would realize how vulnerable you feel lying there and maybe realize how scary it is too. Great job on the weight loss. Keep us posted with that!! dance: I would love to go on a cruise. I hope you have a great time. doitforme: Nice to see you. How are YOU doing? Jackay: Great to see you back. Keep posting!! Gary: Where are you? Have you joined Angie while she's out running? I've been thinking about Sunny and Michele a lot lately. Hope things are going well for you. Please post! Have a great day! |
Thank for the great post, Wilma. This is my very first cruise so I am looking forward to it! Except I DON'T want to pig out and blow it with all that "free" (i.e. paid for already) food floating around! I plan to be up early on the promenade deck with the joggers and walkers though!

Saturday
HI GALS~
It is a rainy :rain: day here, we have had hail 3 times in less than 24 hrs. which is very unusual for us. The snow is pretty low on the mountains, that I can see off in the distance, too which is rare. Angie headed off to her sister's this week-end for our neice's debutante ball, lucky me got out of it ~~ something about me and tux's ~~ just doesn't work! :fr: My son and his buddies, brother and sil, ex-wife and her folks and I are going to Fish Club Oden tonight for the dinner and "show". Not much on the menu here the last few days, last night Angie made pasta with the leftover meatballs i made awhile back, Thursday night I made burritos and Wednesday night we had chicken and potatoes and veggies at church before Lent service. :dance:4-JOY~ Starting to look like Seattle here with the rain we have had the last couple of days. Alaska sounds cool! I was supposed to go with AUNT SUElast year but she forgot to stop by and pick me up ;) AUNT SUE~ What the heck is mud season? Sorry to hear about Frankie, but it sounds like it was for the best (?). I am sure you will do a great job getting the memorial together. I don't want to sound bad, but this will probably take some of the burden off you and free up some time to rest every now and then! At home this week-end? WILMA~ Hope the haircut was all you wanted it to be! No, I haven't been out training with Angie but I sure should be. Her and the dogs are looking mighty fit! Glad to see your son got a new job and feeling better about things. MARILYN~Thanks for keeping this thread going!! :cp: So sorry to hear about the car trouble. I hope it works out for you in one of the duplexes near you, they just have to take Koko right? ;) Sounds like the house is really coming together. CHARISTINA~ Prayers that you end up at the school our Lord wants you to be at! BETH~I hope your dd finds the right choice in colleges. My daughter did her first year at the University of California at Santa Barbara, she had a full ride schlorship for marine biology, she even was invited on the tennis team after the coach saw her playing with a dorm friend ~~ However, it was just too liberal and "partying" for her...she left there after a year and finished her last 3 years at a Christian college in San Diego where she also played tennis, we did have to pay some but she did receive some schlorship money. The bummer was that she also had a full ride at another christian college in San Diego that she didn't take out of high school. When she left UCSB she applied back there but they told her that they would have taken her, as a freshman full ride, but that now they wouldn't take her until her junior year with a full schlorship for the final two years, nothing for the sophomore year...anyway, she had a great time at the college she went to, but to be honest, I don't think she got near the quality from her advisors there that she was getting at UCSB. Luckily she graduated magna cum laude with honors so she had the ability to research a lot on her own. MAVNAN~Too bad I am not heading to Florida anytime soon, I could do your patching since I have been doing drywall for 35 looooooong years! :dizzy: Well I have to get ready for the Fish Club ~~ jeans and T-shirt...oh and a sweatshirt for the rain!! GET OUT AND WORSHIP!!! ~~~~ GARY |
Hi Gary
Well LOL it is NOT looking like Seattle much up here as it has been so COLD which is unusual for us esp. in March. Of course LOL what WE think of as cold and what others think of as cold is not in the same ballpark... we are wimps at that. And LOLOL about mud season... I know I know... I grew up in Missouri!! :) |
Hi everyone!
Wilma ~ To answer your questions, the presentation went GREAT. It started a little rough because five minutes before I started I spilled soda down my WHITE shirt  and then I choked on one of the first (easy) questions :?: my committee asked me. But after that it was smooth sailing and I passed with no problem. :cheer: My next presentation is in a few weeks, and then I work towards the dissertation defense, which will be late June/early July. So three months to put together my thesis. I have all the data and information, it's just a matter of putting it all together in a nice, neat package. :write: :write: :write: And my mom broke her right (dominant) hand... As for the law schools, I'm now between two places pretty much: Duke with $45K scholarship and Wash U (St. Louis) with $60K scholarship. I will be visiting both schools in the next few weeks so that should help me discern which is better for me. I am so excited to make these visits! Sue ~ I'm a bit late in catching up, but I am so sorry to hear about Frankie. I will keep Frankie's family and friends in my prayers as they mourn his passing. No doubt he is safe with God now. Dance4Joy ~ That is so great that you're going on a cruise! They are so relaxing, although one does have to look out for that floating food! :hungry:  I know you'll have a wonderful time. Gary ~ Hi! Thanks for the prayers. I hope you had fun at the Fish Club tonight! I hope everyone is having a WONDERFUL weekend! You all are in my prayers as always! :beach: :beach: :beach: |
Have been missing in action
Due to some stomach upsets and not being able to sit for very long I have no not been around much - have been keeping up with reading the posts just not having enouth energy to post. But am on the mend I think - it has been a wake up call to get into the doctors so will be heading there sometime this week.
Well we got our van back finally - $1, 027 worth of repairs later. But it seems to be running very nice thankfully. Praise the Lord for a nice Income Tax return received today so that we could pickup the van and get a few other chores downtown completed. Norm has the living room and entrance way all primed - now just to put the final color on those walls. He has one more wall in the kitchen to prime - and then it can have the final color - and then the flooring can be put down - yeah - looks like maybe we can get this done by next week!!. Then just to work on the basement!! Not sure where I am going to have my cancer checkup - will talk it over with doctor this week - still nervous about having it done here but just might have to do it here anyway. Norm has less than 30 days to work - then he will be on holidays (starting April 10) and will be on those until May 31 and JUNE 1 will be officially retired. But we aren't counting the days!! Want to get back to posting individually but am somewhat tired - so will have to do that next time. Ok everyone, it has been a little quiet in here so how about a bit more posting! |
Good Sunday Morning!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...Impression.jpg
Look what I did! I'm still getting used to it. It sure is easy to take care of in the morning. I didn't mean to look so depressed in the pic. DS just caught me at the wrong moment!! How's everyone's morning going so far? I woke up too early so I just got up. I've done my devotions, read the paper and had my cup of flavoured coffee. It's been kind of nice. The kids are coming for lunch. We're just having tacos and I'm going to see if I can talk them into watching Walk the Line with me. I actually got up the energy and walked 2 miles yesterday. It felt great! I plan to make a habit of this! dance4joy: All that food can be tempting. I know that I would find it really difficult to avoid them. Just make sure to balance out the food with exercise and you should be able to enjoy it. IT IS A HOLIDAY AFTERALL!!:D Gary: Come on! I bet you look great in a tux. You should give it a try!! crk: Wow! Those are big scholarships. What an accomplishment for you to be able to choose. Great job! Sprout: Glad to hear you have your van back. And your tax refund already? we haven't even gone to get ours done yet. Because my DH drives for a living it's a bit more complicated to do. I'm looking forward to that chequed too. What colours are you painting? It might be hard for you to sell it after all the work you're doing? You might want to stay!! It's off to church for me now. Have a great day! |
Thanks Wilma... I do plan to "splurge" just a little bit... however, that is "down" from my plan of a month or so ago to totally pig out on the cruise! Now I wouldn't even THINK of it and ruin all the hard work LOL.
My niece is going with me and she also plans to pig out... but she is really heavy too and trying to lose weight. I hope I don't ruin her fun but she sure can chow down without ME doing it!!! To me it's just not worth it! And fortunately now that I am eating right, all that junk is not so appealing! And a lot of the time we will be in port so out walking around and doing stuff! That will help! And I plan to be one of the early morning folks out on the promenade deck walking!! |
Quick Hello
Hello everyone. Hope you are all doing well, OK, better.....
Dance4joy I say live it up on the cruise. Pamper yourself, enjoy the sights, take in all the beautiful scenery, take lots of pictures and shop, shop, shop. When it comes to eating, you will make the right choices. Have fun girl. Wilma Great job at the walking 2 miles. I am trying to work my way up during lunch breaks to 2 miles at the park track. Part of it is time and the other part is my calves/shins. I wonder if it is my tennis shoes. Marilyn Hope you are feeling better. My DS had a bout with stomach problems this past weekend and my DH had it in the middle of the week last week. Glad to hear you got your taxes back. That is always a nice thing to get. The best part is the timing I am sure. Now you have the money for your van. Christina Way to go on your presentation. and .... way to go on your scholarships. Send some of the good vibes over here to Texas. My DD is applying for scholarships too. She still has the rest of her junior year to go, but thought we would get a jump on things. Gary My DD wants to go to a small Christian college for the exact same reasons. She wants to be (at this time) a youth minister. We will see if she continues along that path. She also wants to do a little web designing too. Maybe both. Manvan So sorry to hear about your misfortune. We have had to go through similar problems with our bathroom. Lucky for us, it was confined to one small area. Our house has so much work needed. I can't imagine having to do all of it at once to sell. We are going to do a little at a time over the next 2 to 3 years, so it won't be such a daunting task. Will close for now. Guess it wasn't that quick of a hello. Take care and God bless. |
Hi everyone!
I don't know about you but I have a severe case of The Mondays today! It is beautiful out, my campus is on spring break, but I'm stuck in the lab working :( :( :( At least I get out pretty soon, and I'm going to go home and make some yummy flank steak for dinner! :hungry: I also got one more law school acceptance today, so I'm 7/7. Still waiting on two more schools. Sprout ~ I'm glad you got the van back and that it's working for you! As for finishing up with work, I wouldn't be counting the days either...  Wilma ~ Walk The Line, I still haven't seen that one. Thrilled that Reese Witherspoon won an Oscar though! She is one of my favorite actresses! Beth ~ Lots of good vibes :goodvibes: for your DD! It's good that she is starting early with thinking about colleges. She should get a lot of good opportunities that way. Everyone else, I hope you're having a good week! You're in my prayers! :grouphug: |
Hi Beth... great advice! I DO plan to have fun on the cruise... I just don't plan to totally pig out and mess up all my progress... I can... and HAVE... gain 20 pounds in a week! But I'll be getting lots of exercise too!
|
Hello, hello, ello, lo............echo, echo - anybody out there?
:?: Where is everybody:?: Communication has been sparse. Come back everybody.
Hi Dance4joy and Christina - how are you? I am fine. Just finished a 2 1/2 hour safety meeting at my job. We had to sit through 3 videos, a powerpoint presentation, and a bunch of talk and signing things. It was freezing in the training room too. My nose is still cold and that is after a hot chocolate. Hope everyone is doing well. Take care and God bless.:) |
Hi Beth... wow sounds like quite a meeting!
I find this section to be pretty intermittent too LOL. |
Well, I did it. Stepped on the scale again. Waah!! I thought I'd gained, and I did. Up to 226. I haven't weighed that much for almost twenty years! In the last year, I've gone from 209 to 226. Why? I don't know. My goal weight is 140, which still would be more than my less than 5'3" frame should probably have on it. So I'm about 90 lbs. overweight, and what do I feel like doing? Yup - you guessed it - eating!! Help!
|
Hi Fitchick!!
First of all, don't EAT :) I know exactly what you mean... I was my highest weight ever when I got brave enough to get on the scale recently too... so I bopped my butt right back in here to 3FC and got busy again! It IS frustrating when we mess up... but we can't GIVE up!! I am so encouraged when I read of others here who have done it and are successful, and it makes me know I can too. THEIR journey was not easy either!!! Hang in there... perhaps you could join some of our challenges... they do help motivate. |
Good Morning!
It sure is quiet around here these days! I've been pretty busy and haven't had a lot of time to respond. It's hard when you work full time and still have to plan dinners, clean, etc. At least I no longer have little ones to take care of on top of that!
Dance4joy: You are so right. If I hadn't had this group of people over the past few years I don't think I would have lost the weight I did. I'm very thankful that I have this place to come and share. fitchick: I am 5'2" and weigh approx 151 now. Everyone tells me how great I look but I know I should lose another 10 lbs. Keep sticking to your plan. You can achieve your goal. Take it 10 lbs at a time. It doesn't seem so great a task then. Christina: Are you taking some time out to enjoy yourself? I loved Walk the Line but you do have to enjoy Johnny Cash's music to enjoy the move. My kids enjoyed it and they don't like country music. Well, better get going to work. Have a great day! |
Empathizing with you Fitchick
I completely understand how you feel and know the frustration. I fluctuate so much and I just need to stay off the scale. It dictates too much to me. I know that I am fully responsible for all of my actions. Yesterday, I had a small bowl of honeynut cheerios with skim milk for breakfast, then a chicken sandwich (Tyson's - heat up in microwave) for lunch. Not much, at all. Probably not enough. When I got home I was hungry, so what did I do......I went to the kitchen to start dinner and began to munch on everything. Sourcream and onion potato chips, 1 slice of SaraLee cinnamon bread toasted with honeypecan cream cheese and a couple of cookies. And that was before dinner. What is up with that? It was like I went into automatic mode.
On the good side, I did manage to walk during lunch (about a mile). :^: My problem is that I need to get off my lazy bum and start moving. I don't move enough. I sit all day in front of a computer and then go home and do the same. I don't even walk everyday at lunch. So, I know. We need to keep pushing each other. OK. :carrot: Never give up. I am a member of TOPS. I have to drive a ways to go to the meetings, but I am thinking of maybe joining WW on top of TOPS. Two meetings a week. If WW works better for me, then I may "ween" myself over to that. Meetings are more convient (saturday mornings). I love the people in TOPS. They are really sweet. It is just a long ways to drive. NEVER, NEVER, EVER GIVE UP. GET BACK ON THAT HORSE. Everyone take care and God Bless. Will post more later. |
Thanks, dance4joy. Where would I find the challenges?
|
Ok, I am still here
Notice that some of us - meaning me and others - have been missing in action - really has been quiet in here lately.
My mind has been in overload - and just able to keep things in proper place in mind - so have avoided posting. We got our van back - thankfully - $1,027 later - seems to be running a lot better - not all the noise of broken springs and all - but it is still an old van (1988) so we are really wanting to see about getting a newer car - one that can take us out of town to see the grandchilren and all - otherwise we have to rent a vehicle to do that. So that is one thing I have mulling around in my mind - buying a newer vehicle a month or two before retiring. Do we (a) finance it and have a mortgage and a car payment on low income (b) sell the house and with the profit buy a new vehicle outright - no carpayment but then no house (c) after retiring just about impossible to get a mortgage so if we do (b) then we have to rent - and everyone is telling us there are no places to rent and those that are available are supposedly very expensive. But how can this be as there are a lot of people on low income (thinking of pensioners and those that are on welfare) so how are they finding a place to live We (probably more me) want to move to the interior of BC (Kamloops) so that we would be closer to family. But am told that the rent situation there is terrible but really would like to move there. Then there is the problem with son - he is still not living at home but has one more year of high school. When Norm is retired (June 1) we won't have the finances to pay for him to stay where he is at ($800.00 a month) and he is not interested in getting a job - so don't know what will happen. My prayer is that he would get motivated and get a weekend job and a job for the summer - sure would help out. He is on spring break right now - 2 weeks - he is 18 1/2 years old and what is he doing - skateboarding and computer games all day with his very very very young girlfriend. So there is a lot to mull over - and we want to do as Christ wants us to do - as of this morning we are both saying that we feel it is the right thing to sell the house and move out of this city as soon as it sells - as for son - he has the option to come with us for his final year in school (would be difficult but we could make due for 10 months) or we feel he is going to have to work the summer and weekends to pay for his keep as we just don't have the money to pay for him to live somewhere else. But it is still difficult Weight wise - not going so well. I have lost the same 5 pounds more than you can count. I am feeling somewhat frustrated - I know of some things I have to change as far as eating - but the biggest problem I have is I am not active enough - I know am not and yet I don't do anything about it. And that gets me frustrated and upset with myself. As my doctor told me last fall - I need to find something that would motivate me enough to take charge and make the changes - and until then I am stuck here with this weigh which is killing me with all the health issues that are coming up because of it. I have set a goal as of yesterday to walk (to tv, music whatever) for a total of 45 minutes every day - I can do it in 5 or 10 minute segments - just have to do it. So look for my updates on how this is going. Ok, hubby just called and needs help with something in the kitchen where he is putting primer on - so will check back later. |
Hi
Sprout- I am there with you lost same 5lbs over and over- I gained 10 lbs during week following Frankie's death, people brought all kinds of great junk food, and I just couldn't let it go to waste, but back on target starting today, so got that to take off before I can move my marker. You have had a ton of stress to with house, doctor issues, son, van, ect. It is quite understandable prayers for help with wisdom guidance, and peace of mind.
Beth- Smart doing small goals it is not so overwhelming Crk- Sorry to hear about your mom's broken arm- Prayers you pick the right school. Thanks for prayers for Frankie's family. It was unexpected, knew he was sickly, but wasn't expected to pass away. Mavnan- so sorry to hear bad news with water and house, prayers everything drys out well and all repairs can be made in timely cheap fashion Dance- I believe it was the sun princess we went on, they have a calorie concious menu they offer, and there is always fruit ect. But relax and enjoy its only for a week. I had so many clothes packed there was no room for E.Z., you'll have to see if you can fit him in. E.Z.- mud season is when the snow melts in the mountains and you get a rapid run off and it doesn't absorb so you have mud for 2-3 weeks, this happens every spring, where the ground is to soft and yucky to walk around on, or dig in. You guys have slides we just have mud. You are right about the frankie, he is in such a better place, he wouldn't do well going back and forth for dialysis, and it does relieve the responsibility of overseeing him, he gave as good as he got though. He was a sweet guy who handled his many challenges well. I am off to the Carribbean on a cruise in the end of April no heavy clothes this time, so a little more room, String bikini's don't take up much room, :o ;) :D Better bring your shades though for the beach, the reflection could be blinding :fr:  Wilma- I like your hair, it is very attractive, and that was a good pic of you, proof that we all can do it if we persevere. Fitchick- Start again, been there am right now, so recommit and we'll be here for ya. Got a run, as always God bless and Hi to all MIA's see ya! |
Hi everyone! I hope that you're doing great! It's a quiet day in the lab today (quiet all week because of spring break), so I'm getting to relax a little bit. (Nice!) I am happy that Friday and St. Patty's day is tomorrow! One of my parents' dogs is called Patrick, so we're all joking that it's his special day. I bought him a bag of green dog treats from PetCo (not that he'll notice that they're all green, but it's the thought that counts) in honor of the occasion.
Tomorrow DH and I are going to a couple of church events and I'm looking forward to it. The first, at DH's (Catholic) church is a Lenten dinner followed by a form of prayer called Stations of the Cross. Then, we're going on to a friend's church, where they're having a St. Patty's day celebration for couples. Kind of an interesting contrast between the two events, but each will be enjoyable in its own way. And next week I'm going on my second law school visit in St. Louis! I'm very excited about it. The school sent me a DVD with a virtual tour and it looks incredible. And the communication I've had with the staff so far has been amazing. And they gave me $60K...so things are looking great! I leave on Tuesday. That's all for today. You all are in my prayers, as always. Have a great day! :grouphug: |
Hi everyone
Well it seems like I can finally see light at the end of the tunnel with this house. Last week was a nightmare with the flood. We had to temporarily take the house off the market till repairs are done. I started calling around hoping to get someone to come quickly but this didn't appear to be happening. Then people started questioning us if God really wanted us to move. :?: Thank you all for your prayers because I really do feel that we are in God's will with a few set backs along the way. This week we started putting in a fence and one of my neighbours started kicking up a huge fuss. Although we had moved the fence line a foot in on our property she wanted it moved in farther because she doesn't like looking at it. The next day she turned her water sprinklers on to saturate the grass and soak the workers. Then she treatened to call the police on the workers. When this didn't work she called the power company about a line that was cut. The line (on my property) was an old telephone line, but she was still hoping to stop the work. Thanks to prayer the fence will probably be finished today. My ceiling is being fixed also today and the insurance adjuster is coming tomorrow. So there is a good possiblity that the house could go back on the market by Monday.:D As for diet and exercise wise I have not done all that well. Have let the stress get the better of me. I have started back to bible study and we are starting a new study about the Physician Healer. This is a study about how God wants us to be healthy at all times. It is exactly what I need at this time. God always know just what we need.:) Gary thanks for offering to patch the ceiling. Christina this must be such an exciting time letting God decided what school to go to. Just keep praying and He will lead you to the right one. Dance a cruise is such fun. You can avoid the food by just keeping yourself busy with all the enertainment that happens. There is always so much to do on these curises that when I went I didn't think about food at all. Fit sometimes it is easier to start getting healthy by starting with exercise. I seemed to have spent so much of my life thinking about dieting that when I was ready to get serious I focused on exercising instead of food. This helped because I saw results in my clothes and energy level. Then when I combined the proper nutrition it was easy cause I was already motivated from the exercising. Marilyn it seems like are going through many of the struggles that I am facing right now. I have also been going up and down the same 3-5 lbs. My son who is 19 and in college also does not have a job for the summer. Not sure what he is going to do cause he can't work in the States so he can't live with us and I refuse to allow him to live with his grandmother. He has about 4 weeks to make some big decisions in his life. Praying for each of you. Have a wonderful day looking for God's blessings in all that you do. |
March Madness
HI GALS:wave:
I have read your posts, will catch up sometime this week-end. Been busy and the entire family is involved now with......... MARCH MADNESS!!:carrot: In my prayers, Gary HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY :kissluck: :patrick: :luck2you: :cupgold: :goldpot:  :irish: :irish:  :goldpot: :kissluck: :patrick: :luck2you: :cupgold: :val1: :cupgold: :luck2you: :patrick: :goldpot:  :irish: :irish:  :goldpot: :patrick: :luck2you: :cupgold: |
Good Morning!
It's a bright sunny day here in Sunny Manitoba. I forgot to turn off my alarm so it went off at 7:00 and do you think I could sleep after that? DH has to leave for work at noon so we've had a nice morning together so far.
I had my follow up with my DR yesterday. My BP is normal again!!:carrot: :carrot: I am so excited about not being on medication. It astounds me how my diet can affect my body so severely. I know now that I have to be on a salt reduced diet forever. I can live with that if I don't have to be on medication. Praise God!! I don't have big plans for today other than the usual cleaning, etc. Gary: Glad to see that little glimpse of you. Looking forward to your post. I bought some wild salmon yesterday so I'm going to try one of your recipes this week. mavnan: Sounds like you won't miss that neighbour too much. I can't believe how rude people can be. I'll be praying that God's will be done as far as your house sale is concerned. Christina: You must be overwhelmed with all those schools to choose from. I'll be praying for you as you make your decision as to where to go. doitforme: Thank you for the nice compliment! My curls are relaxing a bit. It is an easy style to take care of but I'm still not convinced that it's for me. I'll give it some time but I don't think I'll do it again. I do feel great about having lost most of the weight I'm supposed to. I have the eating plan down but still struggle with exercising. I'll be praying for you as you start over and with all the life issues you're dealing with. Sprout: I know exactly what you're going through with losing the same 5 lbs over and over. Just hang in there and it will start coming off again. Even changing something in your diet can trigger loss. My last 20 lbs came off just by not eating processed foods. Now I'm struggling to lose that last 10 lbs. Beth: You're right - you probably ate too little and that's what triggers the snacking. Do you like yogurt or fresh veggies? I love those little carrots - just the right size and crunch for snacking. I hear TOPS is a good program with lots of support. My aunt has been going for about a month and has been losing 2 - 3 lbs each week. They have a healthy eating plan and with the exercise you're getting it should work. It's too bad you have to drive so far for support. Post here often. We'll support you!!! Have a great day! |
Saturday Morning
HI GALS:wave:
I am going to try to catch up a little. It has been busy around here for me with work and MARCH MADNESS:carrot: . This year the entire family is involved with college basketball. My son and I always watch and have our picks, this year Angie, Amanda and Ron wanted to pick bracketts. We are all in one with about 20 of Ryan's friends ~ right now Angie is in second place! I am in 3rd in one with several hundred USC fans but far from the lead, I also am in about 550th place out of 560 in a Washington State poll!....my picks were way different there :dizzy: Anyway, as a family, we have been watching a lot of basketball the last few days. My son's ring came for his girlfriend this week ~~ ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS! He is sure to get lots of boyfriend points!!   He plans on popping the question, to make it official, in April when they have a day trip planned together. Angie did the :cupgold: :luck2you: :patrick: :kissluck: :goldpot:  :irish: IRISH thing last night with cabbage, potatoes, carrots and corned beef in the crock-pot ~ Very good. My son's girlfriend and my daughter's boyfriend came over for dinner so that was nice. Angie made GREEN sour apple martini's for all to celebrate the day. Angie is at beel choir practice for church this morning, I took the opportunity to get to the barber around the corner when he opened ~~ left the house at 3 minutes to 8am and was back home by 8:20 ~~ so nice to have just "a little" hair sometimes!!;) ...now, if someone of told me that in 1972 when my hair was half way down my back I would have thought they were  I haven't been walking or training for our 5K in April:( Angie has though, a little setback this week ~ she was out running with the dogs and Reba decided to cut in front of her sending Angie to the pavement ~~ she came home with several road rash rewards on her knee, hand and shoulder ~~ she was not too happy with Reba :nono: She is feeling better but is still limping around. WILMA~Great look on the hair :carrot: for a minute I though a Hollywood movie star had joined our group!;) I STILL haven't watched Walk the Line even though i bought it about a month ago ~~so glad to see the BP normal for you. How is DS doing in the new job? and the "old" newlyweds? AUNT SUE~WOW! the trip to the Carribbean is coming so fast! Boy you in a bathing in a bikini and me without my shirt will surely be a site for SORE EYES!! We better be careful or they won't invite us back :D How will Kaylee do without her Aunt Sue around? Mud season sounds very interesting ~~ glad we miss that here in southern California. It is :rain: here today and has been off and on for the last week ~~ SOOOO ~~ Reba and Rylee find MUD no matter what season it is. Looking forward to another SPRING SEASON with my good friend Aunt Sue starting Monday! MARILYN~ Boy you sure have some tough decisions ahead with the house, car and son. I know it cannot be easy dealing with the boy, trying to decide how and when to help vs. just flat pulling the $$$ plug and sending him completely on his own. I pray you make the right choices for the best for all of you!! I bet the house is really looking great with the work from Norm, I hope it sells for top $$$ for you both. Every day is a new start on that :running: exercise you want to do dear, so if you fall off :woops: one day ~ just start the next ~ EASY!! ;) FOR~JOY~ I like reading your posts around the 3FC site. How is the weather in Seattle? I looked up the Kennewick weather this morning and saw it was lousy as usual. It is great that you don't want to over do the eating on the cruise, I wouldn't worry too much about it though ~~ just try to keep getting that HEAD START ~~ maybe really try to have one healthy meal with your neice together each day then just "let" her do what she wants ~~ Enjoy the occasion, you can always come back home and hit the :running: :woops: :strong: :tread: STRONG! CHRISTINA~Sounds so exciting for you in your journey for the right school, the money offer sounds great ~ I have only been to St. Louis once and it was very humid, something that you are used to from FLA. but not here! Were the green treats you bought at Costco the greenies? I saw a few weeks ago a news segment on the danger of those, I posted it here. Anyway, I felt they were not safe for my dogs and threw them out ~~ hoping your treats were different. How was church? My wife grew up catholic and knows the Stations of the Cross, we don't do that at our Lutheran church. I didn't go this Wednesday to our Lenten service, they were seving corned beef and cabbage, Angie already had that planned for us on friday ~~ I could have still gone to service!! I will make it this week though since it is Taco Bar ~~ fundraiser for the 8th grade trip to Washington DC. BETH~Your safety meeting sounds like the ones we get at work, not much fun. In construction though they come in handy, this last month there has been 4 guys killed on projects around here, mostly from making dumb mistakes on the job and not taking the time to be safe. It is so easy to sit!! I know that well, just ask my wife:lol: about her "is that recliner glued to your ...?" remarks!! A few months ago I saw some exercise equipment that someone was trying to develope where you could walk the treadmill, etc., while using the computer at work. MAVNAN~Boy your neighbor just sounds so "SPECIAL" I hope you get all the repairs and back on the market by Monday as you hope. I will pray that God's will be done concerning your decisions. Well gals, I have a lot to do today helping Angie clean house...have a great week-end and I will catch up with you all later. GET OUT TO WORSHIP!! |
Hey everyone:hug:! It's been a really long time since I have posted in here because I can't get on very much (I'm still on my sister's computer). My comp won't be finished until the 26th and then still has to be shipped back to me.
Not much has been going on around here. I'm out of school until the Monday after next, woohoo:). I got online tonight and the night before because my sister is out of town at the moment and I have been reading up on books of the Bible that were not included in the King James version. (I'm not talking about the books that Catholics sometimes go by.. I think the are called the Apocrphyle. Not those but others like the Book of Enoch. Very interesting reads to me.) I finally lost the weight I gained back last month and I'm down another pound from that so I'm at my lowest since two years ago! I'm excited. Also, my hair was originally down past my mid-back almost to my waist but ever since I dyed it, it became more damaged and so it really needed to be cut and that is what I did. It is a little below my shoulder and I love it:). I've been getting a lot of compliments on it. I hope to post a picture after a while:). I hope to be back soon (probably will be next weekend) and I will try to catch up with you guys. |
Quick note
I'll post more tomorrow.........but, I began 2 more challanges for myself. You can see them below. I felt that I should be held more accountable for my walking, so I have a goal now and I went to my first Jazzercise class this morning. It was alot of fun and boy did my body parts ache during the last part. The good news is that my muscles are tired, but not achy to the point that I am injured or anything. Feels good. I was such a spaz on some of the moves, but no one cares. You just keep moving as much as you can. I didn't know that I was supposed to bring hand weights. I'll have to remember to bring them next time.
:carrot: :carrot: :carrot: Everybody move, move, move. You can do it. Hillary you are such an inspiration with those declining numbers. Yeah, go girl. Wilma such good news for your BP. I know that has to be a good feeling to not have to take BP pills. I don't know if it is my BP pills or my anti inflammatory pills, but one of them makes me oversleep my alarm. Also, tonight during preparation of dinner, I munched again. Yep, I munched...........on veggies! Tonights dinner is Mexican Lasagna. Probably not the healthiest so I will have to watch portion size. For those who might want to try a new and extremely easy recipe. Brown 2 lbs ground turkey (I use 93/7 lean) I season with taco seasoning mix in large can of low fat refried beans layer in pyrex dish (I spray with a little non stick cooking spray for easier cleanup) tortillas, meat/bean mix, little bit of enchilada sauce, shredded cheese Can top with black olives before you put in oven and sour cream individually. I usally have 3 layers. Cook in oven on about 350 just to get chees and sauce cooked together real well. Maybe 20 minutes or so. Ok, can y'all tell that I don't usally use exact recipes. I do alot of guesswork and about 90% of the time it turns out good. But for all the chefs (Gary) out there, I think you get the point. Gotta go, dinner is served. Take care and God Bless. |
Aww, Beth, thank you:). I hope me losing weight inspires others wanting to be healthy. I know you will do well on your challenges.. I know you can.
Mmm, I love lasagna. I ate some yesterday, yummy:). Sounds like you had a great Friday, Gary;). I'm Irish (my last name is a give away) but I don't do anything for St. Pattys day.. *shrugs*. Wilma, I'm so glad your BP is normal! Keep up the great work. How is everyone? |

Sunday Evening
HI GALS~
I hope you all had a great week-end. We went to church this morning then Angie and I came home and did some yard work. The :rain: we have had recently brought a ton of weeds with it! :carrot: Monday is the first day of :flow2: spring! :flow2: My favorite season. March Madness is going fairly well for me, I am still high in one pool and Angie and I are tied in one with Ryan's buddies. I am too far out to win anyone of them and in the last 4 I am in I am not even close :( HILARY~ :carrot: So great to see you back dear!! :carrot:  So you are already on spring break huh? The kids don't get it here for a few more weeks. I like short hair on women, I am always trying to get my daughter to do it, and she does, but she always says she needs it long so she can pull it back when she plays tennis, which is frequently. Really admire you for reading the BOOKS! I am looking for a book the explains the bible in an easy way, more of a story telling. I enjoy in depth bible studies, but I also like to read the story first of the lesson before we start "getting into it". See you soon. BETH~Your lasagna sounds good, I am going to give it a try soon. My daughter has already requested one of my lasagnas for this week in a note she left me before she went to her mom's for the week-end ~ she didn't say if she wanted my spinach or meat one though. FOR~JOY~ Boy oh boy! you sure are hard on those American Idol gals over there ;) :chef: Angie made tilapia tonight with a rice and beans dish and veggies of carrots and sugar snap peas. She coated the talapia in flour and egg, then dredged it in bread crumbs combined with salt and pepper, parmesan cheese and cajun seasoning ~~ then she fried them in EVOO (RACHEL RAY;)) for about 10 minutes ~~ Very good!!! Well Angie and I are going to do the video thing tonight....have a great week Ladies!! |
